Current work at the Fort

Thanks for the current pics, @tidefan.

The monstrosity grows so close behind Trails End.

The cabins take the view from us on our Clementine's Beach.

And the new Zero-Entry pool (last pic) construction is meant to make us feel grateful (when they take away the very MEADOW the Meadow Pool/Trading Post area complex is named for). My heart hurts for all the kid fun and games I've seen in the decades on that open patch of grass.

Again thanks for the pics but this is another proof that the people making decisions have no idea what is valuable to the Fort and Fort guest (and what isn't). Put any of us campers in charge and we could drop a new inconsequential Disney IP DVC/resort nearby (not with a dumpster view of TE).. And expand the pool options (but not pave over the open Meadow).

And not kill the goose that laid the gold egg. As Disney is (un)knowingly is trying to do.

But again thanks for the status pictures.

I saw this kind of blind decision making in my own company before I retired. And that company is now in a slow tailspin. But hey, Helen Keller and me saw it coming.

Yep. Ed hit the nail on the head. It’s not that they’re building a DVC/Cash resort, it’s where they have decided to put it that’s the problem.

Full disclosure. We own DVC and have loved being able to stay at the Cabins. We love the vibe of the Fort. I do not like the monstrosity at all…. I mean, you don’t exactly get rustic western vibes when you look over Pioneer hall and there’s a tower that looks like it could have been built by Marriott…

We check into the campground in 6 weeks! It's been a year and I can't wait. We stay in the clover leaf so we won't be impacted by construction. I'll send pictures.

I am most sad about the view from Crockett's. When the scrim most recently came down I was euphoric. Do we think the resort has reached it's permanent height??

Was told by a bartender 2 weeks ago, a 10th floor and a roof was to be built. Probably done by now.

How has it taken this away. Sorry I haven’t read through the thread. Does this mean they will change premium meadow category sites?
All of this saddens me!!

For those who have recently been to the Fort - does the DVC complex take away from the campground atmosphere?
We couldn’t hear any construction (400 loop) and it did not affect the joy we had camping at the fort. It sucks going down to the beach to watch fireworks, getting on the boat or going to pioneer hall because the new building obviously looks awful as a backdrop. But the “feel” of the fort itself did not change for us. We were there April into May and they had not started the pool construction yet but my grandkids will enjoy that addition. I know there are a lot that disagree with the new pool, and maybe they could have put it somewhere else, but the main pool was quite crowded when we were there.

Was there at the end of July. At Wilderness Lodge. I use to love looking out over Bay Lake, from Geyser Point. WL is that place that takes you away from the rest of the race that is Disney. Much like the Fort does. Now I can look at another hotel from my seat at the Point. The new hotel totally overshadows the campground marina area. Maybe imagineering has a plan of having it blend in. The massiveness of the new resort is going to make hard to blend in. Its 700+ rooms! I do worry about future plans for campground.

r.e. bold -- Heard from a bus driver that Imagineering Dept. has plans for the building of ‘sequoia sempervirens’, or ‘coastal redwood’ trees to blend in and block the buildings. :duck::teeth:

Our first trip ever to Ft Wilderness will be in Nov. will the construction disrupt our trip - we are in a cabin?

I’m so HAPPY to hear that!! I hope it actually happens.

No, the cabins are closer to the Outpost section of the campground. The construction is at the Settlement/lake area.

There is also construction going on at the main pool area, but the pool is still open and this construction also wouldn’t affect the cabins area.
