tried snakehead for the first time this evening.
First thing I thought when I read this was that they were an invasive species and had no idea people ate them. Of course, I am local to you.

We have a winter weather advisory for overnite, for freezing rain/sleet??
Oh yuck! I put the hose out this weekend and turned the water on to the outside so I could fill the birdbath, which froze last night.

Good morning! Well the weatherman was wrong here, thankfully. I don't think it even rained overnite, and it's just barely sprinkling here. Temp only going to be in the 40's today though. Hope it's just Winter giving it's final hurrah with these last few cooler nights. I want Spring! Hubby has a virtual Drs appt this morning, and I want to do a little more Spring cleaning. Tomorrow will be grocery day. I find Wednesdays to be a lot less busy/crowded than Saturdays were. I keep forgetting that since he's retired we can go any day we want, lol..

@easyas123 I wish you were closer and I could give you the firewood I have in the cellar. We bought one load this year instead of 6, and we didn't use the wood stove at all, lol!

Have a great morning everyone!fa923ed1b92293acfed867f31a3a27fa.jpg

Happy One Year Anniversary Quackers!

Hard to believe we’ve had this going for 365 days. Shared births and deaths and made bonds with people that were strangers before. This is a safe place to come with joys and frustrations. Many thanks to Tina for starting this thread.

I hope this thread will continue when, God willing, life returns to some kind of normal.

Good morning everyone.

I am in such a good mood today in spite of the cold and my allergies. The kitchen is DONE, except for the grouting which needs to wait for the tiles to set and the plumbing which will be hooked up this afternoon. Here are some pics of the finished project

I forgot to fix this one but this shows the countertop

The bottom two are better pics of the backsplash and the floor. I love the flooring because it can look more gray depending on the light hitting it. Now the task of getting everything put away.

Hope everyone has a good day.

It is hard to believe that it's been a year. Sometimes it seems like it has been forever, sometimes it seems like it has gone by in the blink of an eye.
I'll add my thanks to Tina for this wonderful thread as well.

I LOVE that subway tile backsplash. It looks great !

Well husband is fighting a bit of a bug so he stayed in bed this AM and I got up with the dogs and got everyone in and out and coffee started and all that good stuff. Since I had free time and was up extra early I decided to do my daily check of vaccines sites for my folks. I've been unsuccessful for weeks now, as has my Mother who is working on the same thing from FL. Low & behold there it was! Two appointments at the local Winn Dixie for next Tuesday! Yippee, so I snagged them and emailed my Mom....and as fate would have it today is her 70th birthday! I know she is still asleep but I'll hear from her in a bit I'm sure. They have a multi week trip planned to Chile & Argentina in December/January so I am so glad they will be vaccinated and able to resume their globe trotting once things get better.

Congratulations! It looks beautiful! :goodvibes

Thanks everyone I am really thrilled with the way it came out. Now the job of trying to get everything back in the kitchen. I think a lot of things will be donated. I just don't need as much "stuff" with just the 2 of us. What my kids can't use will go to a drop off place.

I can make my first real meal tomorrow for St. Patrick's Day and I have a nice cold Guinness waiting in the fridge.

Enjoy your day.

tazdev3225--Kitchen looks beautiful ! Kudo's to you for all the work you did yourself on it. That was a big job! Enjoy cooking your first real meal in your new kitchen tomorrow!

I am sitting here laughing. Noone from Drs office called by 10:15..hubby calls office and nurse says oh yes, we can still do your virtual appt today. Took all his daily info like BP, weight, oxygen etc. Says I will call you back in a few min. Almost 20 min later she finally calls back, and then puts the Dr on the phone (in my book virtual appts should be like Zoom?),,and 4 min later the appt was done. Says labs were all good, kidney function is same..see you in 6 months? And for that they charge insurance /medicare $90???? Glad we only have a $20 co pay..
Its raining outside..and I do not feel like cleaning. The time change doesn't normally affect me,,but this time I thnk it did!

Good Morning, Quackers,

Amen to what you said Carol. Much thanks to Tina for starting this thread and all of you for keeping it going! I absolutely pray one day when this pandemic is over we stay in touch right here and can also have our DL meet up, too.

Beautiful kitchen, Taz Dev, congratulations! :)

Hug, Lynn, I am glad you and your DH did not end up having to trek to the doctor. I am sorry the virtual appointment was a hassle. My Dad will have a virtual by phone appointment tomorrow. At least twice now on such days there has been no phone call. The second time I reminded Dad that I thought the last time the doctor's secretary had said he only did appointments on such and such days (the day he was supposed to call not being one of them) Turned out I was right yet the person who scheduled him for that day must have forgotten that, again. Anyway I am thankful your DH is doing well that is what counts :)

It's only 46 here at the moment, Brrr! I would love to burrow back in bed but I'll cozy up soon on the couch instead.

Have a good Tuesday, friends.

So true! I also really love this thread and hope it continues even after we're all busy with everything again. Many thanks, @lovemygoofy, for bringing us all together!

dang, isn't that quite chilly for southern CA? I think that is the temp here in MD at the moment! Hope it warms up soon for you!

Only 41 here in Western MD but the rain ended and the sun is coming out now.

@flyingdumbo127--that is cold for you Mona,,stay warm! :sunny:

Post Office still continues to amaze me. Last week hubby got a letter from Prudential about retirement benefits due him. The letter said he never returned the paperwork to complete the process..ummm,,maybe because we never got it? She said it was sent at the end of January. She said she would send another one overnite today. So what comes in today's mail? A big packet from Prudential, doesn't say overnite delivery, so I look at it..it's postmarked Feb 1--isn't today March 16- 43 days later? And it came all the way from PA to MD????? That is just ridiculous..considering I got 2 Amazon packages that were mailed from PA yesterday morning, in my mailbox this morning too!

Its cold here, we got about an inch of snow last night, but most is gone already. I'm really hoping this is the last snow for the season. I'm not going to hold my breath though. My birthday is toward the end of the month, and my Mom used to tell the story that when it was time to go to the hospital, they had to get the snowplow out , so they could follow it to the hospital!

Tazdev Love your backsplash! I'm jealous

Mother got her Smith Island Cake, two thumbs up!

Ironically enough I found out this weekend that her favorite is...Baked Alaska??? I've never once, in all my years seen or heard her mutter a word about Baked Alaska, not to mention that it's not a good contender for overnight delivery:joker:, but at least now we know.

It is just cool, gloomy & grey outside. Blah. Husband ended up staying home all day, most of it laying in bed. He's feeling better, just still very lethargic. But better. I'm glad he spent the day napping & doing nothing. I'm a firm believer in water/hydrating and rest.

Today when I went into town I noticed several homes that had daffodils already blooming. I hope mine look as nice, they are a few days away from blooming I think. We are quickly coming up on mowing season, all the trees are starting to bud up and my willows are that yellow green color. Mothers day weekend is usually the weekend where I buy all my hanging plants and flowers for the porch planters, out of habit more than anything else. I'll be hard pressed to wait that long this year - I'm just really feeling like I'd like to see those pops of color on my porch sooner rather than later.

Planned on cod for dinner, but not sure husband will be feeling like it. Will just do scrambled eggs if he doesn't. Either way I'll get some protein into him.

Ugh, this day - this week - is crawling by for me. As if I'm moving in slow motion.

OMGosh....time change is really kicking my bootie this time. I am sooo tired, I had a nail appointment a couple hours ago and I've been sitting on the couch since I got home, barely able to keep my eyes open. I need to get up and start moving. LOL

DH had to, last minute, head up to San Francisco again late yesterday and 2 of the three routes he would go were closed because of snow....lol So he had to drive way out of his way to get to the 101, the coast highway. He ended up having to sleep in the truck for a couple hours before continuing on this morning. He'll be gone through the weekend, he was bummed I couldn't go with him but I have the take the dog to the vet and my niece is coming to stay a couple days.

I'm think DD and I will get something take out for dinner tonight. Maybe some fish tacos for taco tuesday, we haven't had those in a while.

@tazdev3225 I love the kitchen, looks so pretty.

@easyas123 I also thought you were eating snake when I first read it.... :scared:

It's been a great year getting to know all of you and I'm so grateful for this post and all of you. :grouphug:

I hope your DH will feel much better tomorrow, Easyas! I am glad you are enjoying seeing more signs of Spring 🌼

Safe travels to your DH, AuntieMe3. I'm glad you will get to spend time with your niece. Continued doggie prayers.

Gratitude:
Better night's sleep last night was much appreciated
