Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

Evening all.

Prayers for those who need them.

It is cold here but I did manage to accomplish running the vacuum. The electrician came out and I'll have a price in a couple days for the work needed in the kitchen. Not a lot just need a box raised to above the base cabinets and replacing the recessed lighting. I could probably do some of it but I really don't feel like it. My dad was an electrician and taught me how to change outlets, light switches, I can even change a ceiling fan. I did ask my dad about the box and he said I could probably do it but to hire someone to be safe. The work should be done in a couple days.

Most of the wallpaper is down. The easiest stripping I have ever done. It came off in sheets so I won't need to do a lot of prep work on the walls. Then I took down the one cabinet remnants. It fell out of the wall but left the backboard attached. I am surprised the others haven't come down on me yet as I cannot find any holes in the wall where it was attached. Taking another cabinet down tomorrow.

I was concerned that I shouldn't have taken this on but am sort of glad I didn't hire an outside contractor. It's a real sense of accomplishment to know I can still do some repairs.

Not much else on the schedule beyond that. The baby may be here on Monday. So I am excited to see pics. Because of Covid I won't get to see him immediately but I will be taking a ton of pictures when I can.

As far as the 2 QOTD

My husband plays for the BIG jackpots. We have talked about what we would do if we ever won. Trust funds for all the grandkids, pay off the house and finish the other major projects. Maybe get a small vacation house somewhere but since I like the beach and he likes the mountains I don't think that would happen. We would travel some though. It is nice to dream.

Disney Restaurants: Table Service I had an amazing experience at Crystal Palace on a trip with my daughter and her family a few years ago. We were paying out of pocket and the waitress did not charge me for the 3 kids. That was some major pixie dust.

I have had some great service at Via Napoli in EPCOT. I went with a friend and we had so much fun with the waiters. They even mugged for some pictures which was fun. I am easy to please usually. I have simple tastes and don't go in with high expectations so it helps to not be disappointed that way. That and I waitressed my way through school so I know what it takes and how hard a job it is.

Now BAD experiences, maybe that could be a new QOTD.

Have a great night all

Sending prayers for Auntie’s Mom. 🙏🏻 Glad SIL was able to get her to go in.

Happy about Jasper. :goodvibes It is a relief to have a good place for them to go when we go away.

It was freezing cold here today, too! Put some warm water on one of our cars to get bird poop off and it froze! Ugh!

We have a lot of vacuums, some also in our in law apt. Two Orecks, an Electrolux canister, I think somewhere we have a Sears canister, and DH got me a cordless Shark for Christmas. 🙄 (My own fault, I did mention it but didn’t think he’d take me seriously, next thing I know, he’d gotten it, lol.) I really like the cordless ones that I can use easily for small jobs. I always loved the Dirt Devil cordless ones but they stopped making them. I got a Dust Buster cordless but that was probably my least favorite - it plugged constantly. This one seems ok so far but I do miss my simpler Dirt Devil. Life is a lot easier having a dog that doesn’t shed than German Shepherds, that’s for sure!

Exciting about your kitchen, tazdev! Sounds like you were able to get a lot accomplished!

DS’s girlfriend finished college this week so we took her out to Bertucci’s. We had planned to make pizzas at home per her request (we have an outdoor pizza oven) but I forgot DH was having minor surgery so we decided to make that another time as he is the pizza connoisseur. Though we were all still craving pizza. Anyway, Bertucci’s was a HUGE disappointment, probably the worst experience we’ve ever had in a restaurant. On so many fronts. We sort of decided on the way home that from now on if we do go out, we’re mainly going to stick with local restaurants to help them out (and probably have a better experience).

I fear my hairdresser has Covid as I went to make an appt and they said she’s going to be out for the next two weeks. This is someone who never takes time off, works six days a week, doesn’t take vacations, etc. I hope I’m wrong. I am getting my second shot tomorrow. Hoping if I have any side effects they’re just minor. The silver lining is that there is a great breakfast place nearby. So looking forward to breakfast anyway.

I’m sorry to read that so many people are having problems here on the Dis. I have had that issue before but since I installed an Ad Blocker app on my iPad (which is all I use) it’s been fine. Sometimes things are locked up a little too tight but at least those annoying ads went away. All I did was find a free Ad Blocker app and download it.

I hope everyone has a quiet and peaceful evening! 🌷

Go and good for you, TazDev! What a great accomplishment! I know zip about electrical stuff that's for sure. Very cool that your Dad passed on some life skills in that trade to you :) Maybe you can get one vacation home in the mountains and a second at the beach? I have enjoyed books set at the beach and often have found such peace and extra Presence of God along quiet shores.

Hug, Pea. I hope you get to have a tastier meal to go soon! Prayers for your hairdresser!

It's pouring down rain here. Not one drop of USPS mail so far today.

I was grateful to have had a nice catch up conversation with a good friend.

Have a good evening, everyone and stay warm!

There you are! I haven't been able to get on in a couple of days so it's good to be back and see what you have been up to.

QOTD: What are some of your favorite Disney restaurants, and why? Share an experience there!
Casey's
Columbia Harbor House
Sci Fi
Rose and Crown
Tusker House

If I won the lottery I would take a lump sum. I would retire, my husband will never retire. I'd probably tell him to go build houses, it's something he has wanted to do for quite a while now. Put some in trusts for our kids and grand kids. Remodel my house, I like where I live. Maybe buy a big RV and travel. Donate/tithe carefully and thoughtfully.

@sparkle78, massaging my scalp sounds heavenly.

We met with the funeral home on Thursday. We were able to get the date and time we wanted for the graveside service. Hopefully the weather will cooperate. As long as it's not raining I'll take the cold.

DH cooked a crockpot of navy beans today with a ham bone. It turned out pretty good.

Cecil County is doing a winter lights festival in 4 towns. Winter Lights Cecil Nights so we took a drive tonight just to look.

My Mom had a Oreck for FOREVER when I was younger, honestly I didn't realize they still made them or had shops anymore. I wonder if there is a place around me - hmm, off to google!
Did you find any? DH had one for his office. Bought in Price’s Corner but had it serviced not long ago in Dover.

@AuntieMe3... And while asking, how does someone contact a moderator?
Usually, you can tag a moderator in a post, e.g. Hey, @moderator, I have a question! But the tag feature is wonky right now (as is the link feature and other things), so you could send a PM to a mod, just the same way you would send a PM to anyone else. Click on their name in the left sidebar, then click on Start Conversation at the bottom of the box that appears. Hope this makes sense!

Thanks all for the thoughts and prayers for my mom. No surgery/procedure yet. They want to treat the infection with IV antibiotics first before they do anything else. The good news is she's feeling better and she's comfortable. She'll still be in there for a couple days but I'm just glad she is getting better. I feel so relieved she feels better. My dad will be able to see her so he's going tomorrow. He was going to go tonight but it started snowing earlier... We are at the top of a mountain pass and the highway patrol was starting to do escorts down the freeway so he decided to wait until tomorrow.

It still going outside, wasn't really sticking earlier but we just looked out the window again and the ground is starting to get white. Hard to get a pic of the ground but here is DDs car when it first started earlier. 551991

The forecast the rest of the week is wild for us, especially since last week we were in the 70s/80s. In the bottom radar map, we are right in the middle of the light blue.... I love it....especially when we don't have to go anywhere or do anything and I'm sure it will be gone by afternoon tomorrow.

I am getting my second shot tomorrow.
Good luck, hope no side effects!

Glad you were able to make the arrangements that suits your family needs, good thoughts for great weather.

There is a place in Dover, and I think it might be the same place all those years (like, a lot!) my Mother got hers from! I took a look online at the models available and I came away feeling a little meh about them. If I can get over there this week I think I'll try to take a look at them in person.

Dang it's chilly this AM. Took the mutts outside, at least early as it is there wasn't much in the way of wind. They wanted to stay outside and meander over hill & dale! I gave them 15 minutes then we all came inside.

Looking for something productive to do with my day. Bed is made, coffee drank, I even got dressed already...ok, just sweats...and not much else to do.

Have a good morning everyone.

Good morning all..it was too cold to get out of bed any earlier..20 when I got up earlier and fed the cats, down to 16 now . Winter storm watch for tomorrow.
That goodluckdog thing popped up first thing as I got on here, reported it to WebMasterCorey again..it's annoying!
Just made some steaming hot cocoa,,going to fix us each a blueberry english muffin.
Getting baby back ribs ready to go in the oven laster, with baked potato and homemade coleslaw for dinner during the game.
Stay warm everyone--@AuntieMe3--you got more snow than we did yesterday, and you live in CA? yikes!60734-Relax-And-Enjoy-Your-Sunday.jpg

My dogs always want to do this when it's freezing out or I'm really tired and just wanna go back to bed. This morning, they didn't want to go out at all... Bingo went out real quick then ran back in the patio and stood like this while I was taking pictures. Buddy wouldn't even come out into the enclosed patio... he stayed right on his nice warm bed.

is it unusual for you to get snow ?
We get snow maybe once a year. We're in what they call the high desert because we're at 3500ft altitude... so even though were the desert and still get hot, hot, hot in the summer, we get cold temps from the higher elevation in the winter. I love the snow but don't think I could live somewhere where it always snows so this is perfect for us.

Haven't heard anything about my mom yet today so I'm taking that as a good sign...I'm going to call later to see how she's doing before my dad heads down to see her.

Happy Sunday.

Happy Sunday!

AuntieMe3, so thankful your Mom is more comfortable. Continued prayers for her and you, of course, too! Smart Buddy! Wow to the snow. I know you live higher up but didn't realize it actually snowed there. Here it poured later afternoon-evening. We had a brief 15 minute power failure around 9pm or so. Today is chilly but the sun is out. Tomorrow night is supposed to be in the 30's here, yikes! Time to get down my comforter!

Prayers, Pea your second shot goes smoothly with no affects.

Kirby, hugs, friend and much peace.

Zero mail or Amazon package through the USPS yesterday. Not really surprising given the weather. We shall see what happens tomorrow!

Have a warm and good Sunday all! :grouphug:

We managed a 30 minute walk, took the pups for a proper romp through the fields, down to the creek and thru the woods. Duke came upon a whole flock of geese on the hill down to our dock and had a good time chasing them off. We saw a fox down on the creek bed as well, the tide was super low and he was able to get out to the middle of the creek. Husband cast a few lines and got a bite, so the little fishes are active. Luckily the dogs didn't notice the fox and he made his way back into the phrag before they saw him or I would have had one cold, wet and muddy dog! It was just so windy that it's not that fun to be outside this afternoon.

Looking like some snow & ice here overnight tomorrow night, and more snow on Thursday. I have a flight on Friday morning, but it doesn't sound like the weather will be a issue by then, so no worries for now. I am on the road all tomorrow afternoon, but it looks like I should be home by/before the precipitation starts. I am comfortable driving in the snow, but that icy crap after dark is what I don't care for, so I'm glad I will be home by 5 or 6.

It wasn't supposed to snow till tomorrow but its snowing pretty good here. Ground is already getting white :( Buc's are beating the Packers at the moment, and hubby isn't a happy camper. Dinner is almost ready, smells so good I can't wait! Ribs are one of my favorite meals!
Have a nice nite everyone..stay warm..
@flyingdumbo127--Mona,,isn't the 30's pretty low temp for LA? Get under that comforter and have those fuzzy socks on!

Easyas123, you are brave to have lasted 30 minutes outdoors in that weather! I am glad you and your dogs got in a good walk :)

30's is freezing for LA, Lynn and extra for me lol! Today the sun is out which helps. Oh no, maybe dinner will put your hubby in better spirits! I hope so :)

Guess what came today? Mail! Actual mail in the mail box! What didn't come still (after being out for delivery for at least 2 days) was a package from Amazon that was supposed to be delivered through the post office. We shall see tomorrow whether that comes and more importantly almost whether we get mailbox mail as well!

I hope all of you are keeping warm and well!

Ground is already getting white

After you posted this I said to my husband, "hey it's snowing up your families way already!" so he pulled up the I68 camera at Grantsville, and then I think maybe the one in Frostburg, then the one in Morgantown....all to show me it was still snowing....I said to him I KNEW it was snowing, I heard it from a reputable source on the DIS boards!

One football game down and one to go. I don't have a dog in the fight, nor the interest or knowledge of the game to have an opinion - still there is something nostalgic about a football game playing in the background. Reminds me of being a kid. Anyway, I think we were rooting for the green guys/Packers, who evidently lost. I personally find Tom Brady to be irritating (actually a personal interaction, long story short) Husband is a 30 year Chiefs fan, so that is who he's rooting for during the next game.

One of the dogs keeps looking at me as to remind me that we were going to go watch a movie in the other room and he was going to get to lay on the bed - as if we had some sort of unspoken agreement. "Dad's up late yelling at the TV, you said I could lay in bed with you and watch nonsense TV!"

I did make a point to plan out my 4 weeknight meals for dinner this week and pre-prep what I could. I pre-sauteed some chicken breast to have with some pasta and roasted veggies tomorrow. Tomato basil soup w/ grilled cheese already on deck for Tuesday. I'm trying.

Have a wonderful evening everyone. Safe travels to those on the road tomorrow & Tuesday for those of you who are impacted by the snow & related weather headed to the mid atlantic this week.
