I got my flu shot today after work this morning. I love to check things off my list and one more item off.

It was 43 degrees here today and now is 61. It is supposed to get to 72 but I don't think so. I would prefer that it doesn't!

So happy to hear that Madalyn is doing so well. Great news.

I have been going back and forth about my Disney trip planned for November. Seeing the pictures Bianca and Bernard posted makes me want to go. I just don't know if the cost is worth the lesser experience and the wait times and number of people in the parks are rising. I keep thinking Disney is my happy place so just go and chill out. If we don't go we will probably do a local trip maybe to Vermont and northern NH. I have always wanted to stay at the Mountain View Grand Hotel in Whitefield, NH. I will just keep reading about people returning from Disney and their experiences. I can see what is good and what is not so good.

I am making pasta fagioli soup for supper. I like that I get 2 suppers out of it and it is even better the second night.

Blustery is right! Expecting to see Pooh and gang coming by any moment! It really feels like fall here now. Leaves are beginning to turn, pumpkins are out everywhere, and homes are decorated for fall. So pretty! I am planning to do my fall decorating this coming weekend.

I got a lot of my housework done late last night while I was cleaning up and making lunches. One benefit to insomnia, can wake up to a clean house the next day! Had a busy day today, too. Also got my haircut! Took a chance on getting my hairdresser a pumpkin muffin when I got my coffee, wasn’t sure if she is a pumpkin person or not, but she is, and did a little dance of delight, which was nice. Then routine vet appt, Toto was quite sick in June so we had to delay his vaccines, and it took over a month to get an appt for shots. Now I find out he was supposed to have follow up bloodwork before shots, but I didn’t know. My bad. So poor little guys been in there for a while while he has both. He was so bummed out when we turned into the parking lot!

Im so glad to hear the good update on Madalyn! Maybe we have a future nurse in the making! That’s often how it starts! 😷

Enjoy the rest of the day, everyone! I think we’re having BLTs tonight. I got some of the nice Applewood smoked bacon, and bakery whole grain bread, as well as some fresh tomatoes and romaine lettuce. DH can cook the bacon out on the grill so no mess on the stove. I have some fresh corn on the cob, too, to use up. Can’t wait!

On my post, I forgot that I also did my Fall decorating this morning..so that much is done. Madalyn wants to be a professional soccer player and wants to join the Air Force, so unless she changes her 10 year old mind, nursing might not be in the picture, lol!
Dinner here is going to be leftover pork from Sunday, with baby red potatoes, steamed broccoli, and I have 4 ears of fresh corn to cook up and use. Good thing I won't have to cook much, I am tired, lol!

How does he cook bacon on the grill? Does he use a grill pan?

My DD wanted to go to Washington College in Chestertown, MD starting in fifth grade until freshman year of high school with plans of being a lawyer. Once she started marching band and Washington didn't have one, she started to want a bigger university. After a semester or two of political science and some law classes at University of Maryland, lawyer went out the window and she is a social worker now. So who knows about Madalyn. LOL

Snowysmom. I am also in the same boat with a November Disney World trip planned, suppose to stay at Wilderness Lodge which is closed. Hotel side. Hoping they move us to copper creek villas (DVC) at wilderness, but they may only have rooms available at Polynesian. 75% sure well cancel and try next March, but haven’t cancelled yet. We love to stay in the parks till 10 pm riding roller coasters, watching fireworks , etc. but with them closing by 7 pm has me bummed What to do, what to do

Aww poor Toto! Prayers he feels better soon, Pea. So glad you were able to get your haircut.

:) to thinking about Pooh and friends. I would love his ride at DL to be updated and longer. It's super short and too much of it, IMO, takes place in the storm with the weird dream sequence. Should be cuter and more too it than that. I am not even sure (don't remember) whether in the very final scene that speeds by at the end we see Christopher Robin attending Pooh's birthday party pooh:

I am always glad to see a bunch of new posts to catch up with each of you lovely friends :)

I have good chair news! Dad is assembling it as I type! I will share later how I like it. So thankful it is here.

We have have a grill that has a cooking surface instead of grates. It’s easy to cook anything on, like a big griddle. And easy to clean!

@lynxstch, so happy to hear that wonderful update on Madalyn!

@Bianca and Bernard, I love the photos of your "mini Jack Skellington!" Seriously adorable  It

I'm going to have to start writing things down when I think of something I want to tell you all. I cannot remember anything now! It turned cold here - we were 1 degree away from breaking a record this morning. And yet, it's supposed to hit 80 tomorrow. I put away most of Josh's summer clothes already! He had 2 good days at school, so now he's home for 5 days. I hope the next 3 days of distance learning go better than last week. I'm trying to be optimistic that it will get better as he gets used to it. He has a new "girlfriend" this year, as his preschool "girlfriend" isn't in his school. He told us last night at dinner that "Ava has curly dark hair just like Irene did." So...my 5-year-old child already has a "type." Great.

Today my mother and I ran a few errands, which included our flu shots. Had them done at Target so we could get our $5 coupons ;) So we're all done here - DH had his one day last week at work, and Josh had his on Saturday.

We got these tie-dye bagels today at the grocery store. I just thought they were cool ;)

I made what I hope is the last batch of squash fritters for the season as well today. My SIL doesn't seem to have any more summer squash coming up. I altered the recipe slightly a few days ago - I replaced the flour with Italian-seasoned bread crumbs, and substituted garlic salt for plain salt. Can I say that they are WAY better than previously? And I won't say how much cheese I dumped into today's batch... :rolleyes1 Having them tonight with pineapple-bacon chicken sausages.

Slowly getting the house turned over to fall/Halloween stuff. Our Michael's stores are really low on Halloween decor now. I had seen a throw pillow and raven with purple roses figurine that I wanted, but wouldn't pay full price. Now they're 50% off but no stores around us have them. I was able to order them online, though, and I can't wait to get them! I also bought a Frankenstein's Monster costume for Josh at Target. He really wanted us to be characters from Star Trek: The Next Generation, but I don't really have time at this point to make the costumes. Plus we don't know what's happening with Halloween around here anyway. Lots of people say they will not be handing out candy this year. So we'll put off ST:TNG until next year and even if we can't trick or treat this year, he likes to dress up anyway and he LOVES Frankenstein's Monster :)

Love the colorful bagels, apirateslifeforme. So funny about Josh and his girlfriends! :)

We had a power outage for just over an hour. Thank God, lights and a/c are back on now! Not so hot outside as I shared earlier, just in here!

Frustrating chair update :( Dad spent WAY too much time trying to get the chair to properly assemble. It would not due to a defective seat part. Office Depot is coming sometime on Friday to pick up the chair. Once the warehouse receives it, we will get a full refund. So back to limiting chair time for me which I need to do anyway. As I told Dad, one day this plague will be over. I will be able to go with him (which, of course, I was not able to do this time), to Office Depot and Staples and we will find a chair.

Got the rest of the waterproofing done on the porch. The furniture is back out but not properly arranged until the part I did today completely dries. At least now DH can get his car back in the garage.

Then tonight we went to UDairy Creamery at University of Delaware. They had a special flight of ice cream; 2 ounce scoops of 4 different flavors for $5. it was good.

Absolutely gorgeous day here too,,wish we could head to the beack with you @Breezy_Carol! Hubby had appts at 2 clinics this morning, and got his flu shot, so he's all set. Madalyn is happy to be home and to see her brother and sister, and their dog Honey. I am going to the discount place with one of my sister in laws, and then taking the rest of the day off. Have a great day DIS family!

Morning all!

DD#2 is at Epcot today, then they are heading up to Jax. She is picking me up the rest of my "where" Starbucks mugs, if they have them (I just need AK, HS and DS, Hoth and Tatooine? I have Bespin/MK/Ep/DL/CA plus some states). She's also getting me 2 keychains for my Reddit secret santas...one is a keychain exchange (this month) and the other is for the Christmas exchange (Nov/Dec). I think I'm going to make an advent calendar of sorts, using bags and stickers/ribbon from Michaels; I'm thinking of things I can use for fillers, and a keychain from WDW will work! (also going with scratch off lottery tickets, small bottles of alcohol/bottle of wine if they are ok with alcohol; deck of cards/Uno? game; gift cards to Starbucks or other retailers...I really won't know what all to buy until I get my giftee and can tailor some of the stuff for them. But I can pick up some of the general stuff starting now, to spread out the cost some. I want to get it shipped the day I get their information, if possible, so it's there before/close to Dec 1st. So excited!

I made a baked rigatoni for lunch today (what, no ziti?? No, the store was out of ziti pasta in my preferred brands...), with a homemade garlic and herb focaccia and then lemon cake for dessert. I was in a cooking mood today! We have some beautiful weather today, in the low 70s still...a much needed relief from the 80s and 90s of the last few months!

Jim Butcher has a book coming out Tuesday; another Dresden novel. It's pretty much part 2 of the book that came out in July, but that works for me. DS has to read a novel for English class, and we looked everywhere....no where does it state what kind of book or how long it has to be, so he wants to use a Dresden book for it. LOL

His US History teacher sent an email; she's having surgery for her cancer next week, so will off and on for classes the next few weeks. She gave the kids the go-ahead to move forward, bypassing the DBAs (direction based assessments) and quizzes that follow them, until she is back and able to do them with him. Otherwise, all the kids would be weeks behind. (he's in all honors classes except Algebra 2 and his 2 electives....guitar and programming). So, anyways, everyone send good vibes to her, if you please.

And. my daily photo set...a very tired DGS after his fun at MK the other day; and something to get your tummies rumblng (I hope)...

It is a beautiful day here today. The temp is 72, sunny, and breezy. Jasper enjoyed his walk in the nice weather. Now he is sleeping on top of his chair.

@flyingdumbo127 Sorry to hear about your chair. I know you were looking forward to being more comfortable. Would a pillow help make you current chair more comfortable? Sometimes I have to place a pillow behind me for support.

How nice that Madalyn is now home.

Today I am feeling very tired and headachy. I think it is one of those days that the stress and anxiety of it all caught up with me. I have a work meeting at 2 and then I will chill out for the rest of the day. I will meditate later too. I am not cooking tonight so it will probably be takeout at our local place. I love their grilled chicken salad.

I hope everyone has a good day and enjoys the good weather wherever you are.
