Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

Good morning. 29 degrees now, going to 60. Yesterday started sunny, then the winds came up, the temp went up to 65, then it got cloudy and the temps dropped. They dropped enough by afternoon that I turned the heat on, after having windows open in the morning. I took down curtains and washed them, took down the mini blinds, washed windows inside and out and then put up new blinds. Washed the windows in the front storm door, and passed the vacuum on the front porch. Did a load of clothes, a load of the cats blankets, and by then I was so tired I could barely move. Climbing the step stool to reach the tops of the windows strained my knee, but I was very careful.

I made a meatloaf for dinner, and have plenty for leftovers, even though it was a small one.

Bath and Body Works had a good sale this weekend, so I ordered stuff online and took a run to the mall to pick it up. I thought they would be crowded, but there were only a few customers in the store.

Taking the day off from cleaning today.

@Snowysmom I loved the name 'Dadbachi', too cute.

Have a good day everyone.

Thank you dear Snowysmom. Dad is bringing Uno later which will be a fun way for me to sit up for awhile. I pray you enjoy time today with Jeff and your precious grandkids. As always your walking route sounds lovely. May you dear friend experience extra peace and presence of God on your strolls.

Dear Lynn please give yourself a day off! Please take kind care, my friend and stay warm.

Good early Sunday everyone. My door is open to loud hallway noise. I don't understand why nurses don't automatically close a room door that was closed when they came in as they leave. Especially over here where it can be super loud.

I was partly wakened by the male resident in the room across from me yelling and cursing. All day yesterday he sat in his wheelchair outside his room loudly calling out. That and his animal music (1,2, 3, 4, 5 everyone do the animal jive.")

I found out later last night that a new resident moved into my old room yesterday. The very room I was made to leave Thursday afternoon so it could continue to be remodeled. Dad walked by the room when he visited yesterday. He took a picture showing two empty beds.

Earlier this morning my main regular nurse from the old room was assisting me in here. She confirmed about the new lady and didn't understand why I had to move. It seems as though none of the CNA's here were told about the remodeling of rooms in my old area and eventual resident-wide reassigning of rooms based on why someone is here. An example would be that long term patients such as my roommate will all be in rooms adjacent to each other in the same area.

I'm not a complainer. I was given zero notice on the work being done on my old room or that I would need to spend three mornings out of the room while it was being painted. Then to be told on Thursday afternoon (after the third morning I spent in the pt room) that I had to move right then and there was a bit much! Why weren't we moved us before the work started so we would not be impacted?Communication and patient care are so awful here...no surprise.

Now to be stuck amidst cursing mere feet away and all day yelling is too much. The daytime charge nurse in my old area who I saw daily and became friendly with when she did her rounds and brought medication to my elderly roommate should be here today. I plan to talk with her about my options if she is here. I understand I may need to wait until tomorrow to talk with the admissions/social services lady who moved me. I sure am going to try to get either my old room back or another in that area. I definitely need good sleep and rest!

Thanks as always for listening dear friends. Have a great day. I will check back later.

Mona, There shouldn't be patients in rooms while they are being painted. Paint takes awhile to dry and while most paints are low odor these days, I myself wouldn't appreciate being put into a freshly painted room. None of what they do in that place makes any sense. I hope you can get yourself moving more and get the heck out of there!

I completely agree dear Lynn. I am not a paint smell fan at all, yuck. I'm pretty sure I posted here in our thread a few years ago about how I chose to cover part of my wall at home with bulletin board paper rather than have to smell fumes from the cheap paint that would have been used. Dad and I could smell the awful paint from other apartments the odor was that strong. I was amazed that the paint used in my old room here had no smell. Dad did share later that day that the room stunk of paint. So perhaps workers repainted or what was used initially was like a primer, who knows?

I did talk with Lisa (the charge nurse). Like everyone she, too, had no idea this was happening. She herself said admin rarely chooses to involve nurses (let alone patients) in this kind of choice, they just do whatever :/ Lisa did ptomise to look into this for me. I will probably need to wait until tomorrow when the admissions/ social service lady will be here. God willing a new quieter room update to come.

This week ahead God willing I will continue to make strides in escaping from this horrible place indeed!

Sunday extra hug to all.

Big hugs dear Bobbi with a whole lot of love.

Dad, God willing, should be here soon. Yay :)

Since my earlier posts, I've learned that the woman in my old room is a screamer. It sounds like she may be in pain and have memory trouble. God Bless her indeed. I don't see why my roommate and I can't move into our old room and have the new lady either move in here or the first new room I was put in with the woman who loudly carried conversations with herself constantly.

I shall update later. Love to all of you always.

Dad and I had another lovely lunch and visit. Those few hours are precious to us both. We did talk with Lisa who kindly said she would put in a word on our behalf with social services. First thing tomorrow, I will tell my CNA that I need to immediately speak with the social worker/admissions lady and to please let her know that. Dad, if need be, will also try (remember calls neither always go through or are answered here) to get in early touch with this lady. I want to get an eatly jump on letting her know I want my old room back before a second person is placed in there. Update God willing tomorrow.

Good evening and sweet dreams to all.

Bobbiwoz I hope your wrist feels better soon. Lovely flower!

Mona Thinking of you. I hope you get your room request and continue to make great progress with PT.

Good Morning. It is 31 here now with temps going into the lower 40s and rain. Yesterday was a cold windy day. Jeff's kids wanted to go outside but it was so chilly with the wind. I had fun with the grandkids. Today is salt therapy day and I so need it.

Off to work. Have a good day.

Early morning hug to all. At the moment it feels cool in here. Today is supposed to be 86! Cooler the rest of the week.

Dear Snowysmom may salt therapy indeed be relaxing, my friend.

Dear Bobbi, please do be kind to yourself. We all believe in and are praying for you.

I'm looking forward to pt later. God willing this week ahead will have me continue to step closer to recovery. I also pray to have a positive room update later.

Monday hugs to all with love.

Good afternoon!

I have my long stretch of work days, Monday-Wednesday, but then I'm off Thursday-Monday. Of course it's supposed to rain Friday-Tuesday. I didn't get as much done last week as I was hoping and if it actually rains like is predicted, I won't get anything done this week either. I'm watching Mia Sunday morning so Bailey can sleep, she usually gets home from work at 4 am. Evan is going camping with his Army buddy this weekend. Bailey's mom is spending the night Saturday night. I'll pick her up and probably take her to breakfast and shopping. Maybe we'll go to the museum for the morning.

Baseball starts Thursday!!!!! The Reds opening day parade is Thursday and I tossed around the idea of taking Mia, but that's Bailey's day off so I'll let them do something. I'll just watch the game on TV. Glad baseball is back.

On Wednesday, I plan on telling my manager at the hospital that I accepted another job. I'm so nervous. I just don't want them to say that I can't stay PRN, that would be hard. I don't want the hospital's contribution to my retirement account to stop. If so, I'll just roll it to my account with the new company but having 2 accounts would be nice. And I hope they say I can stay b/c I'm really tired of working at Kohl's. My back just can't take the standing anymore. I'm getting old!!!

That's about all from me. Have a great day!

Dad is looking forward to watching the Dodgers. Wishing the teams of all of dear you, my Quacker family, a great season, too.

Dad left a little while ago :/ How grateful we are for God's absolute grace of our daily time together. I'm waiting for Jessica, my pt to come. I normally do pt before lunch which I much prefer. Today this time works better. ETA Pt went great. I walked steadier and further than on Friday, thank You Jesus! It's so heart lifting to be making progress day by day by His grace.

My room update isn't what I hoped it would be. I learned early this morning that the area my old room is in has become a very short term (as in 2 weeks max) rehab area. Before I knew this, I requested that the social services/admissions lady come to my room. I'm still waiting for her. I would like to share my thoughts about this move and how all the constant noise is impacting my sleep and rest with her. I also want to speak up so that God willing in the future patients and their families are treated much better!

I pray for a quieter evening tonight!

Relaxing evening prayers to all with love.

Mona I hope you had a better night. Great news with PT.

Footballmouse I hope you can continue at the hospital PRN.

Good morning. It is 34 here now with temps heading to the mid 40s. With all the rain yesterday the ground is so muddy and mucky. It will be treadmill at the gym day as the lake will be a muddy mess. I had my weekly meeting with my boss yesterday. She said we can discuss my coming into the office just once a month next time we are both in the office. And they are thinking of closing the main office once the lease is up and we would all work from home every day. That would be in 2026. A reason to keep working especially when I cut back my hours.

Have a good day.

Good morning. 47 and sunny here, heading for 65. My friend in CO is supposed to hit 80 for 3 days this week. I'm watching the grass grow, the trees bud, and my peony bushes are poking their heads out of the ground. I expect to see the rhubarb popping up soon.

Since I have the windows open, I may get the carpet cleaner out and start on those, my last Spring cleaning project. It dries faster when the air is coming through the house.

@footballmouse I hope you can continue your hospital job also

Mona, keep working on the PT. It's great that you are finally able to do a little walking.

Have a good day everyone

Thank you dear Snowysmom, thanks to God I had a much better night sleep. Hugs and prayers. Please be kind to yourself as you krep going forward with a work choice in prayer. Remember also we're all here for you.

Thank you dear Lynn. Yesterday was in the upper 80's here. It's supposed to be cooler today. How are you feeling? Thinking of your knee with extra prayer.

Dear Footballmouse an extra hug to you and absolutely new job prayer. You make a kind difference.

Dear Bobbi thinking extra of you. Prayers you are feeling brighter todaym

I am extra grateful to God for sleep. It was so loud around here yesterday later evening. A near to me resident has a private aid who stays with him. The aid and another person were loudly talking for hours it seemed. I don't think they realized how noisy they were. I will sure try to politely nip that in the bud later for tonight.

I will check back later, too.

Love to all. Happy Tuesday :)

Rhubarb! Is this a plant that you've had for a long time or one you acquired recently? I'd like to know where to get some. Any ideas? I've done absolutely no research so hoping you have an easy answer.

Haven't had rhubarb in many years!

All I know about rhubarb dear Judique is that many years ago a friend I attended college with enjoyed rhubarb pie. Dear Lynn, I'm sure you have a more helpful answer :)

I am excited and so deeply thankful extra to God. I walked further today with two different therapists than yesterday! After my first pt session, I sat in the wheelchair and read for half an hour. I sure saw firsthand last week how sitting upright regularly helps me recover. Dad God willing will be here soon. Afternoon hugs to all with love.

It was here when we bought the house 24 years ago. There were 3 plants in various places in the yard. It's down to 1 now. It comes up every year on it's own. To be honest I don't like rhubarb and give it to the neighbors every year. Sorry I can't be of any help in finding any.
