@Snowysmom, so glad you found an alternative way to your condo, and your electricity came on without any damage to your refrigerated food.

@footballmouse , I sure hope your cough gets better soon.

I don’t know any more about my condition, so nothing to say. Drain is working, I get antibiotics through the drip, and my pain level stays a 3.

Looking forward to Tom’s visit.

Dear Bobbi, big :hug:my friend. I liked your post because thank God you are getting needed care and the drain is working. Enjoy Tom's visit and please take care🙏

Dear Snowysmom, what a harrowing ordeal. Power prayers indeed. I'm of course so thankful you are okay, my friend:hug:

Good Morning everyone:grouphug:Wishing each of you a happy day in some way. I will check back later.

50 degrees and sunny, going to 82. It's snowing in Colorado, but my friend is happy, because the Yankees finally won last night.

Summer texted at 10 that they made it to KY safe and sound, but that it was a very long drive and they were going to get some sleep as she has to take him to the job site at 7 am, and then start the long drive home again.

I now have one cat house sitting in the dining room assembled waiting for her to help me get it outside so we an attach the 2 pieces. I have 2 more of them sitting in boxes. I don't get it. I waited 4 days for the first one to get here, and the other 2 came within 1 day of being sent Fed Ex. One is Summer's , the other I'm going to put together after the other one is out on the deck, so I can put it on the front porch. I'm just hoping the cats use them, lol

Waiting until tomorrow to do marketing as she needs some stuff and wants to go with me, so I may get the tractor out today and make a pass over all the maple leaves in the side yard. Grass doesn't really need mowing yet.

Feel better @bobbiwoz

Have a good last Wednesday of October.

To much for me to catch up on, I have been a bit out of sorts lately. I want this election to be over so that people I know may become civil again. I am actually very hurt by my husband's nephew and some of the things he has said to me that I do not want to spend Christmas with Jim's family.

@bobbiwoz - hope you are feeling better soon. Appendix issues run in my family. My grandfather had his out and it was on the wrong side from what I was told. My brother had his out in his teens. My daughter and my niece, we always called them the twins as they were close in age and so much alike, had theirs out within a month of each other. My daughter actually had chronic appendicitis for several years and always had a flare up around Christmas. Our tradition was seeing Santa, going out to dinner, getting our tree and then take Beth to the ER. It never failed that as soon as we got to the tree lot she would double over in pain. I think the worst was my grandson Jay. His freshman year of high school he was constantly having "stomach" issues. It started getting bad in the spring but he didn't want to miss baseball so he acted like he was OK. Right before his playoffs started, he was running a fever and really sick. My son finally demanded that he go to the ER and asked me to meet Jay there. He was then taken by ambulance to the Childrens hospital for surgery as he had acute appendicitis and the hospital had no pediatric surgeons on staff. My poor son was beside himself worrying as he couldn't get to the hospital until early the next morning. His wife had their car and was at work and he had to stay with his other son. By the time we got to the hospital in the morning they had rushed Jay into surgery. I am eternally grateful my son insisted he go to the ER. His appendix had ruptured by the time he was operated on. When he came around Jay told me to leave. He wanted me to head to the ball field and tell his coach he really tried to put it off, so he was able to play in the game. He didn't want his coach to think he was faking an illness. I don't think he realized how close he was to serious complications.

I actually got most of my Christmas shopping done last week. The older kids will get cash as they are getting to complicated to buy for now. Boscov's, a regional store, had what they call Friends Caring for Friends last week. It's a fundraiser of sorts. We sell a coupon of sorts and get to keep the money for the church. It's only $5 but the coupon is 10%, 15% or 25% off everything in the store and is able to be used all day. I got some great deals so I was happy. I even got new curtains for the living room doors and the kitchen window for after they are installed. I spent about $200 but saved at least the same amount. I even got LJ his birthday present for January. A $36 Puma short set for $4.50. I was very happy with that deal.

My 50th High School Reunion is next weekend and I'm now a little sorry I am going. I was never the most popular in school, I was really shy. I did help with the menu for the evening and said I would help with decorating so I am going. I know I will probably enjoy myself but I get nervous about these types of things.

Not much else going on around here. Hope you all feel better, those that are under the weather. Have a good night

:grouphug:dear Taz and so good to hear from you. What a truly scary appendix story! Thanks to God it all worked out. Thinking of you and sure sending you and all in your family healthy and calmer days ahead!

Thinking extra of and sending love to AuntieMe3, Frog, and Kirby who all (I believe) have not posted in quite a while.

I do not celebrate traditional Halloween in any way, not for me. Tomorrow in my area is a huge (adult oriented) public party/carnival. People drive out here just for this event and often park on our quiet street. Dad and I both have cars. He parks his inside the small garage to our building (one space per tenant) and my car is parked on the street. Dad when he went shopping this morning thankfully noticed sudden signs up across the street where my car is parked. Today and tomorrow morning until 2pm are tree trimming days. Tomorrow and Friday mornings are also street cleaning days. Dad moved my car safely today. God willing after 2pm tomorrow, he will find a space on our side of the street which is safe for street cleaning on Friday morning. Why am I sharing all this? Vivian was/is scheduled to come tomorrow. I texted her earlier to give her the heads up about tomorrow and offer to reschedule to next week. I have not heard back yet. I would feel awful if she tried to come and ended up endlessly searching for space only to not find one. That has happened to me in the past and is never any fun. So, we shall see.

Wishing all of you a lovely good evening with sweet dreams. I know! I want to share that dad, and I are both truly pleased with the humidifiers and would definitely recommend them :)

Sorry you are spending Halloween in the hospital, @bobbiwoz!

And congrats to your Dad's Dodgers, @flyingdumbo127! (You are a bigger person than me for wanting both teams to win - I kind of feel like the Yankees were hit with some karma from their fans' horrible behavior.)

What crazy appendix stories, @tazdev3225 - I'm glad everyone was OK! (I wonder if there is an allergy component to some of it - like the tree lot just overwhelmed Beth's system?)

Looking forward to the trick-or-treaters tonight!! 🎃🎃🎃

Tazdev I agree with you about this election. It is very divisive and just so much vitriol out there. We all need to agree to disagree and be civil about it. Your family history of appendix issues is interesting.

Lynn I hope Summer and her husband can find something close to home for work so she doesn't have to drive him to work so far. That takes a toll. I hope your cat shelter gets set up.

Bobbiwoz Good thoughts and prayers for you.

Dazedx3 Hope you are feeling better.

Good morning. Relatively warm here today at 57 with temps heading into the 70s. I am not a fan of Halloween. Chris loved it and liked to pass out the candy. I do not. We are having alot of kids trick or treating here tonight so I will just have to pass out the candy which I have not done since 2020. I have been with Kenny and kids at Halloween since then. Once the candy is gone the light will go out. This is a small town with some busy narrow roads so families like to come to a small safe neighborhood like this one. I am happy not to be driving down 495 today. I am grateful for the every other week now. I hope to walk at the lake today. I am looking forward to my NH trip soon as a nice break from reality. My friend and I were talking about it yesterday. We are keeping an eye on the weather but so far it looks good, no snow just a little rain.

Have a nice day.

Good Morning everyone and Thursday:grouphug:

Dad (and I am, too) is very happy about the Dodgers. There will be a parade tomorrow that thankfully will be televised. Dear Lynn, I sincerely wish the Yankees a wonderful 2025.

I never did hear back from Vivian yesterday. I will find out more later as to whether we are rrscheduling to next week. Meantime this next week ahead I sure pray God willing to somehow amp up my recovery hugely. I appreciate more than I can say each of you and your belief in me. With all my heart always thank you for your prayers for my dad. I will check back in later. Have a great day, friends.

Happy Halloween

Good morning. Going to be 82 today, 62 overnight, it's nutty!

The Dodgers definitely played better than the Yankees, but I'm not a fan of baseball in any form. I would root for the Red Sox when I lived in MA just because, lol

Summer made it home from KY yesterday afternoon, but scared the heck out of me when she said she was home, but on her way to the hospital. Gracie's boyfriend had an accident and totalled his car, which he just bought 2 weeks ago. He was on a back country road and I guess a deer ran in front of him. He swerved to avoid it and hit a tree head on. Hit so hard the car bounced back quite a distance. Thankfully he had a seatbelt on (as well as thankful that Gracie wasn't with him). A neighbor heard the crash and called 911. Tristan called Gracie before he thought to call 911 for himself. At first they thought he had a broken jaw, collarbone, arm, shoulder, and leg, and he bit clear through his lip.
After being in the hospital for 3 hours, they finally did a CT scan and found out that he has a broken back. 2 more hours later and they said they were stitching up his leg and lip and sending him home, that he needed to see a specialist in Morgantown. We have no clue why on earth they sent him home with a broken back. Gracie was a mess, Lily drove her to the hospital and she stayed with him until Summer got there and made her go home. They went to his house and cleaned his bedroom so he wouldn't be tripping over anything. We think his mother should have insisted the hospital get an ambulance to take him to the ER in Morgantown. He's going to have a long recovery ahead of him, so any prayers would be a blessing.

I'm waiting for Summer to get here so we can go to the market. Then she's going to help me get the top and bottom of the cat house outside and screw them together. She's going to take the 3'rd cat house I got yesterday. Chewy has no idea why they sent 2 replacement ones, but I ended up with 1 more than I expected. They told me to sell it or donate it, so I'm donating it to Summer for her cats, lol.

Nothing else new, but I guess that's more than enough for one day, lol

Have a spooktacular day!

Happy Halloween!🎃

Supposed to rain today but they're saying it should be over at 5:00, trick or treating starts at 6:00 so fingers crossed that they actually correct this time. Evan said he'll be taking Mia out in her Cinderella outfit. I have to work tonight so I won't be able to pass out candy this year.

I had a job interview at my old high school this morning. Sounded really great, they offer benefits like insurance and 401k, on a school schedule, 1/2 days during the summer and off on Fridays and your pay stays the same. They had me right there. Then I ran the numbers and it looks l would be taking a $3 pay cut. I think it would be too much for me to adjust. I have a civil service test scheduled in a couple of weeks for a police/911 dispatcher. We'll see how the test goes.

Tiana (now Pearl) is home from her spay appointment, everything went well.

Dumbo - congrats to LA for winning the World Series, enjoy watching the parade.

Lynxstch - wow, that was a heck of a wreck. Glad he was wearing his seatbelt.

I'm also ready for this election to be over because I'm tired of all the commercials and text messages. I learned early on not to discuss politics with anyone. My sisters and I don't agree on the candidates and for the life of me, I don't understand why they think and feel the way they do so I'm just keeping my mouth shut.

Have a great day!👻

Happy Halloween.

@lynxstch - that was a scary accident and thankful he had on a seatbelt. My dad had a "broken back" years ago. He was in an accident at work. The hospital wasn't as concerned about that because it was just a fracture on a vertebra that didn't actually involve the spinal column. It's possible it was something like that if they sent him home. He will need to follow up with ortho and will need to take it easy. I'm always concerned about deer popping out in front of me because even though I live in a big city I am in an area with a lot of woods and the deer are being displaced by construction. I bought a huge pumpkin for Halloween that I am going to toss in one of the areas for the wildlife.

@footballmouse - good luck with the job search.

@flyingdumbo127 - congrats on the Dodgers although I was rooting for the Yankees. We are Phillies fans but my grandson Wyatt is a HUGE Yankees fan. I wanted them to win for him. He will get over it and look forward to next year. Maybe a Phillies/Yankees series for some friendly family fun.

Not doing much today. Ordered everything for the 2 decks yesterday so that will come on Saturday, way too much to fit in my car. There are 67 deck boards alone at 16 feet each. I am looking forward to the finished projects which should be done by next weekend. We haven't had any measurable rain all of October, I can almost guarantee we will get it next weekend! The doors and windows should be here in about 2 or 3 weeks so the deck has to be done before then. What is there is not safe to walk on.

Jim will be handing out the treats tonight. I have avoided it for several years because of the issues from when my next-door neighbor still lived here. I just don't want to be around certain neighbors, and they all sit out front. I miss the days of taking the kids and the grandkids around. I always got Chinese take-out, but I can't get that anymore either because of my allergy.

Hope you all have a safe Halloween

I reluctantly picked up treats today. We've gotten very few kids in recent years.

DD did not love my choices. If I bought what we both like, I'll eat too much of it.

Checked my mail and BJ's sent me a membership offer. $15 for the year, plus spend $150 and get a free butterball turkey.

Going away for Thanksgiving and don't really need a big turkey.

And, we already have Costco and Sam's memberships.

I'd probably be interested if they had a good Disney Gift card discount. Anyone know if they ever do a 10% or better discount around black friday or something similar? I have my DVC dues coming up soon.

Hello everyone. I am finally starting to feel human again. Besides feeling better, I know it is reaching the end because I am so bored. I really want to get out of the house. I’ll wait a few more days so I am not contagious.

Lynn… feel so bad for you and Summer, she just doesn’t catch a break.
Bobbiwoz… Hope you feel better soon.
Tazdev…. Hope you have fun at the reunion. I’ve never attended mine and don’t think I will in the future.

Big hug dear Dazed and I am truly thankful extra to God you are feeling better. Please continue to take extra care!

Lynn, I'm so sorry. Thank God indeed he was wearing his seat belt. Absolutely extra prayers.

Vivian and I rescheduled to next Thursday.

Sweet dreams with love to all!

Dazedx3 Glad you are feeling better

Lynn Such a scary accident. I hope he is feeling better and he gets his back treated correctly.

Flyingdumbo127 Glad you could reschedule with Vivian.

PollyannaMom Lovely balloons and treats.

Good morning. A warm day coming up with temps near 80. Then tomorrow back in the 50s. Honestly I like the more brisk weather this time of year. I am watching the weather for NH. One night it says snow showers but the temp is forecast to be above freezing. At least the travel days are snow free and temps in the 40s. I did not get as many kids as I thought for Halloween, maybe 25. I have tons of candy leftover. Some will make its way into Christmas stockings. Some I will bring into work next week. Today starts my busy week of the month at work so it is a crazy day. Kenny invited to dinner for takeout tonight which is nice. He doesn't have the kids but we can talk about stuff. I may or may not see Jeff and family this weekend. They are in Maine until Sunday morning. If they get back early enough I will venture over but if not we will video chat. Next weekend I am away. I don't like not seeing them for so many weekends. But, they do have a busy schedule.

Off to work. Have a nice day.

November hugs dear friends!

Thank you dear PollyannaMom for so thoughtfully providing treats for both kids and pups alike.

Thanks dear Snowysmom. Enjoy your dinner with Kenny.

Footballmouse and Dazed, prayers you both are feeling better today. Bobbi extra healing prayers to you as well.

Love to all.

Good morning. 62 overnight, going to be a high of 67. Perfect temp for me. Slight breeze and sunny.

Summer and I did our grocery shopping yesterday and on the way home stopped at a local furniture store that's going out of business after 70 years. A couple of years ago we had gotten a power lift recliner for Don. I hated it, it was too big, and I never found it comfortable. It's been sitting in the living room untouched for the last year, except for 'his' cat who is the only one who goes near it.
Yesterday I found a recliner that I loved. It felt like I was sitting on a cloud, and it was a really nice shade of blue which goes perfect with the couch and other chair in the living room. I got a heck of a deal on it, but they wanted $99 to deliver it. They had one still in a box in the warehouse, so we're taking Summer's truck to go pick it up today, and she's going to take Don's chair. She's going to help me get that cat house out of the dining room and out onto the deck (after I move the furniture around out there) while she's here.

Then I can put the other cat house together and put it on the front porch (after moving furniture around out there, see a pattern? lol)

I wasn't planning on having to mow again, but this warm weather has made the grass grow, so it's going to get one more mow, and mulching of the leaves. Then I'll call Dave and ask him to get the mowing deck off so we can clean it well and lubricate it for the winter.

Gracie's boyfriend is in a lot of pain. They didn't send him home with anything, told him to take ibuprofen. He has to see a neurologist for the concussion, a plastic surgeon to redo the stitches the ER did, an ENT for his ruptured eardrum (due to the high pitched sound of the airbag supposedly), and an orthopedic surgeon for his back. The police say he was going 50 but he says he wasn't. All he remembers is that it felt like the back wheels locked up and he couldn't do anything. The car started spinning and hit the tree. Poor Gracie was a mess yesterday. She got someone to cover her shift because she never got home from his house until after 1 am. She decided to clean the 20 gallon fish tank, and emptied a lot of the water. Was carrying it to the bathroom to wash it in the bathtub, when the cover slipped off and shattered glass all over the floor. She cleaned that up, washed out the tank and brought it back to her bedroom, got the hose from outside and started to fill it. She went to clean something else, not noticing that the hose was on the jet setting. When she went back to the bedroom she found the tank overflowing and her carpet soaked with water. It wasn't her day for sure. She was too worried about the boyfriend and not concentrating on what she was doing.

Have a nice first day of November!

Good day to you all.
Nothing much new going on with us. November is upon us. Weather has been beautiful this fall, although some rain would be welcome.
No terribly exciting plans for the weekend, tossing around getting Chinese take away tonight .... does that count as exciting?!?! probably not! I did order a new travel guide on Scotland and am looking forward to checking it out on Saturday.
My thoughts go out to everyone going thru illness & /or injuries at this time, hope you are feeling better.
