Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

Just finished dinner. The duck was good. But the cost, and the mess it makes means I probably won't buy one again. I watched Mystery On Mistletoe Lane, and I'm going go to outside and walk around for a bit. I'll walk over to the next street and look at the lights. Then it's into my jammies and just chill the rest of the night. All 3 of the kids called me to wish me a Merry Christmas, so that's something at least. My sister in law texted me and started talking about all kinds of sad things, and I finally had to tell her to stop. I had already been crying on and off all morning, I didn't need her doing that. It certainly was a different Christmas than I'm used to. My first all alone. But I'll get through it and come out on the other side. I hope you all had a lovely day.

We split dinner into appetizers at about 2:30 and dinner at 6:30 (that's when it was finished cooking). DD had ordered steak and shrimp. I ate half of what was on my plate and I was full, so into the fridge for tomorrow's lunch. The earlier appetizers were delicious, especially the tarts with feta cheese and caramelized onions.

Had a message from younger brother. His DD recently graduated from a science program in the UK and is now on her way to Australia. She'll be a tourist for a bit, taking a week to surf near Sydney and then attending a wedding in Tasmania. He and wife are vegging at home, but all told he's pretty active. Just a couple years younger than me.

I'm planning my February trip, mostly packing in my mind. I always bring too much and it's easy when I drive.

Very nice weather today although it called for rain. Went to 59 degrees. Met a lady I used to know at my job yesterday. She wants to get together. And had my DD's EX drop by. Life goes on.

Merry Christmas everyone truly with all my love and appreciation. I thank each of you humbly for every day sharing His love through your faith and kindness. Dad and I by God's Grace have had a lovely day. I especially enjoyed worship from yesterday morning's service. Carol, I hope you were able to attend! Should any of you want a link PM me. I think each of dear you would enjoy it. Grace of God alone, I am a ton stronger day by day! Dad and I agreed yesterday how very much more normally I am walking on Yelena's walker. Getting up with dad's help is becoming easier, too. God is absolutely gracing me with His healing. Today marks 3 weeks since I was in the ER. Wow by Christ alone how far I have positively come. To Him always be all Glory not about me. It is just so encouraging of course. Dad and I also got to talk with our cousins Steve and Ruth which is always a blessing. Grateful extra day all-around. Wishing all of you sweet dreams with love.

Good morning. Welcome to MD weather on Dec 26 (and tomorrow too). Foggy, raining, and temps in the mid 50's. I'm glad it's not cold and snowy, but this is just plain odd weather.
I spent a very quiet day yesterday, just as I wanted to. Except for a few phone calls, I did what I wanted to. I watched a movie, I took a nap, I opened my gifts, and I had the dinner I wanted. I have to say I'm glad the day is over. It was a tough one. But I made it through.

I'm going to dust and pass the vacuum today and clean and change out the litter boxes. I have a headache, I think it's from the weather, so I took some Tylenol. I'll have leftovers from the dinner my sister and brother in law brought me on Saturday. It's just no fun to cook for 1.

Have a good day everyone.

Good afternoon. I am still at Kenny's even though I have visited the condo a few times while here. I worked today, took the car in for tires where it still is now. Kenny took the kids to a video game place nearby. Too noisy for me. This afternoon our big trip is to Market Basket. I still need to give them their stockings.

Yesterday was a tough day. Bittersweet for sure. I miss Chris and our traditions together so much. It was tougher for me this year and I think it has to do with all the changes in the past year. I know this is probably my last holiday season spending time like this with Kenny and the kids. The GF won't be traveling without Kenny any more so I am going to be alone much more. See how it goes. I am thinking about booking a 3-4 night WDW trip for early next December. I can book it and cancel if I decide it is too soon to do a Christmas decoration trip.

Have a good day.

My DD would move!

Got to edit this and say, I appreciate that you can make it work!
We enjoy it, it's a great way to decompress & unplug honestly...the biggest thing we do is turn off the TV. Just enjoy quiet Christmas music and make the time/effort to sit together in front of the fireplace and talk quietly about both importing things to deal with in the New Year, as well as talk about ideas for around the farm, where our travels might take us. Sometimes we just sit and don't talk. It is a period of time we look forward to every year. We realized how little we spent time together without some sort of TV on or cell phone or computer near by. We do mini versions of this periodically throughout the year, mostly in the summer & fall where we just go outside and sit together and chat.
I'm planning my February trip,
I logged on to the computer for the first time in 48 hours to work on our trip later in January  Disney planning waits for no one:laughing: I needed to make a reservation with a car service to pick us up & drop us off. We usually just uber, but since it's 6 of us instead of 2 of us I thought something a bit more formal was called for. Next up, after the DIS forum, is to make 3 one-night reservations at POR since we are coming in a day early and can't get a reservation for our existing resort.
I have to say I'm glad the day is over. It was a tough one. But I made it through.
I was thinking of you yesterday. I'm glad you made it thru the way you wanted to do it.

We went once about a week after Thanksgiving - gave folks there for that holiday a chance to clear out. It was a great trip and seeing all the decorations was beautiful.

Well, I hope everyone had a delightful Christmas Eve & Day. We started Christmas Eve by going out for a late breakfast, then we came home and saw to a few chores. After that we headed down to the fire pit by the dock with the dogs & a bloody mary & champagne to have a fire. Of course, the fire smoked badly...then one of the dogs fell in the creek. I had to fish her out since my husband doesn't need to be doing that with his bum knee. So I had to get down in the mud and fish her out. Then she shook all over me! All I could do is kneel there on the bank and take it! We must have laughed at ourselves for 5 minutes straight! Of course she - and I, were soaked and our fire was not doing it with the wind swirling around and blowing on us. So we hiked back up the hill, around the fields and back up to the house where she got dried off and I took a quick shower to get the creek mud out of my hair! Then we pulled our chairs up by the fireplace in the house and lit that fire and sat and enjoyed our bloody mary's & champagne and the afternoon. We are still laughing about it! BIL, SIL & niece showed up around 4 and stayed till about 7. We did fondue w/ them.
Christmas Day the kids showed up around 1:30ish, and we opened presents and had a mid afternoon meal of various seafoods & dips. Kids got started with a mexican train game tournament and we went to bed around 8:20. i got up around 11:30 and the fun was still going on down in the basement! Eldest and fiance headed home last night, youngest & wife left today around noon. It's a gloomy, damp day perfect for doing nothing. So that is what we are doing...dog are watching the Hobbit, I think they mean to watch the 3 Hobbit movies followed by the LOTR movies this week. The house has already been put back to rights and I'm itching to pack up all the Christmas decor, but I'll be patient and let it stay for a few days. The last of the Holiday Bayberry candle is burning and a dinner of odds & ends/leftovers and whatever is on the menu tonight.

Anyone have any NYE plans? We don't, but it's never been a big night out for us. And as normally we are early to bed, early to rise type of people we usually find it a chore to stay up late on purpose🥱 so it's just another evening in for us. One of these days we will summon up the energy to stay up late haha!!

Well, I think the washer is done so I'll go switch the laundry. Toss another log on the fire and tidy up the last of my travel arrangements for next month.

Have a pleasant afternoon everyone.

My trip was 4 nights BCV in early February and now it's longer. I added 2 nights at the Swan and 2 nights at Celebration Hotel. Brother and family were arriving on my last night. They are fairly late bookers and I usually do something at 11 months and then adjust as necessary. I had started with a week in December, dropped it back and eventually stayed 4 nights. Then I had 5 nights in February, dropped it to 4, then 3, while adding 4 to work with my brother and family.

Meanwhile I also created the week at the end of March with my DD's and Grands, staying at VGF and AKL.

Mixed in a day or two here and there at Hilton Head. So it's always a work in progress. I would have happily extended at Beach Club but getting those nights are an 11 month job. Waitlisted and will cancel Swan if either night comes through.

My brother won't be doing parks as far as I know, so I'll maybe do a day or two before they arrive.

Falling in the creek while rescuing your dog - you are the perfect person to lead the life you've chosen!

New Year's day plans - brunch at my son's home. I doubt anyone will be doing anything on New Year's Eve. My son has carried a lot of the entertaining this year. First, his family for TG, and NY's, and her family for Xmas this year. I'll have to get with my 2 DD's and see what we can do next year as we all skated this year. Older DD even went to a restaurant downtown for dinner last night. They ate at Mari Vanna. Her and her husband and the kids stayed in town at the St Regis, which was fairly convenient for checking out the tree and the ellipse. I was tempted because the weather was nice, but stayed lazy, plus younger DD was cooking. Last year was freezing cold as are many xmas holidays. And rooms are almost reasonable because the hill people go away in December.

@easyas123 , what a story about rescuing your dog ! You sure took things in stride!

We will be home this NYE, our tradition is to be in WDW, but we’ll be happy together at home. Tom is recovering very nicely. We will put Gus in the kennel because during Covid years, neighbors shot off so many fireworks, it was just too stressful for Gus.

The present that I got that is so true, and made me laugh is this one.

Does anyone else have something they wish to share?

Usually when we go to WDW around NYE, that’s when we visit resorts to see decorations, so this year we will miss seeing them.

I went at Christmastime once and really loved the decorations!

Not really, but we have a late Christmas party to go to on the 30th, so I'll be satisfied that we socialized around New Year's. :teeth:

Mona Glad to hear you are improving daily.

bobbiwoz I love the t shirt. Chris and I fed the birds and other small critters at our house. They would wait for the window to open and the food to come out. I miss that.

Good morning. I am still at Kenny's but heading back to the condo for 2 nights. Then back to Kenny's for the weekend. We have Ethan's birthday party on Saturday. He will be 7. Kenny hired a truck that is full of video games to come to the house. I plan on staying in the house where it will be warm and quiet. New year's Eve will be with Kenny and the kids. We get Chinese food and snacks.

Kenny will be working on my backsplash tomorrow and Friday. I am in the office tomorrow but he can let himself in and can find the snacks and drinks. I will buy him lunch. We also bought concrete filler to fill in the big crack in the basement as well as a couple other ones. We are expecting rain for the next 2 days so it will be a test of the grading project they did.

Have a good day.
