We enjoy it, it's a great way to decompress & unplug honestly...the biggest thing we do is turn off the TV. Just enjoy quiet Christmas music and make the time/effort to sit together in front of the fireplace and talk quietly about both importing things to deal with in the New Year, as well as talk about ideas for around the farm, where our travels might take us. Sometimes we just sit and don't talk. It is a period of time we look forward to every year. We realized how little we spent time together without some sort of TV on or cell phone or computer near by. We do mini versions of this periodically throughout the year, mostly in the summer & fall where we just go outside and sit together and chat.
I logged on to the computer for the first time in 48 hours to work on our trip later in January

Disney planning waits for no one

I needed to make a reservation with a car service to pick us up & drop us off. We usually just uber, but since it's 6 of us instead of 2 of us I thought something a bit more formal was called for. Next up, after the DIS forum, is to make 3 one-night reservations at POR since we are coming in a day early and can't get a reservation for our existing resort.
I was thinking of you yesterday. I'm glad you made it thru the way you wanted to do it.
We went once about a week after Thanksgiving - gave folks there for that holiday a chance to clear out. It was a great trip and seeing all the decorations was beautiful.
Well, I hope everyone had a delightful Christmas Eve & Day. We started Christmas Eve by going out for a late breakfast, then we came home and saw to a few chores. After that we headed down to the fire pit by the dock with the dogs & a bloody mary & champagne to have a fire. Of course, the fire smoked badly...then one of the dogs fell in the creek. I had to fish her out since my husband doesn't need to be doing that with his bum knee. So I had to get down in the mud and fish her out. Then she shook all over me! All I could do is kneel there on the bank and take it! We must have laughed at ourselves for 5 minutes straight! Of course she - and I, were soaked and our fire was not doing it with the wind swirling around and blowing on us. So we hiked back up the hill, around the fields and back up to the house where she got dried off and I took a quick shower to get the creek mud out of my hair! Then we pulled our chairs up by the fireplace in the house and lit that fire and sat and enjoyed our bloody mary's & champagne and the afternoon. We are still laughing about it! BIL, SIL & niece showed up around 4 and stayed till about 7. We did fondue w/ them.
Christmas Day the kids showed up around 1:30ish, and we opened presents and had a mid afternoon meal of various seafoods & dips. Kids got started with a mexican train game tournament and we went to bed around 8:20. i got up around 11:30 and the fun was still going on down in the basement! Eldest and fiance headed home last night, youngest & wife left today around noon. It's a gloomy, damp day perfect for doing nothing. So that is what we are doing...dog are watching the Hobbit, I think they mean to watch the 3 Hobbit movies followed by the LOTR movies this week. The house has already been put back to rights and I'm itching to pack up all the Christmas decor, but I'll be patient and let it stay for a few days. The last of the Holiday Bayberry candle is burning and a dinner of odds & ends/leftovers and whatever is on the menu tonight.
Anyone have any NYE plans? We don't, but it's never been a big night out for us. And as normally we are early to bed, early to rise type of people we usually find it a chore to stay up late on purpose

so it's just another evening in for us. One of these days we will summon up the energy to stay up late haha!!
Well, I think the washer is done so I'll go switch the laundry. Toss another log on the fire and tidy up the last of my travel arrangements for next month.
Have a pleasant afternoon everyone.
