(Just realized this year is my 20th year of breast cancer survivorship! Thanks to God and modern medicine!)
Wow! Congratulations!!

Well, furnace is out! Here I was worried about the pipes and the problem was going to be that we lost heat. 😵‍💫 So call is in to company. It’s fairly new so hopefully an easy fix (but probably going to get yelled at for not doing the yearly maintenance - I meant to, I swear!) We’re on a list but they may not make it out until tomorrow, they said.
Oh my gosh!! Do you have a fireplace or space heaters or anything in the meantime?

@Pea-n-Me --Congratulations!

Please keep a friend of mine in your prayers. We have been best friends since 2nd grade and even though we no longer live near each other we keep in touch. She has a small breast mass and is waiting for the biopsy results.
Prayers lifted up.

Congratulations!

So nice of you all to congratulate me. Thank you. ❤️ I hadn’t thought of it until Snowysmom mentioned her friend and I realized this is the “3” year. I knew I was getting close, but yes, 2003 was the year I found my own lump. 🙁 My kids were just 5 yrs old. 😭 It was a long year of treatment, and I was bald as a bat, and pretty beaten up 🤕, but I’d promised God that if he let me live I’d be the best mother, nurse and human being I could possibly be. He must’ve thought that was a pretty good deal, somehow. My goal was seeing my kids graduate from high school, so I’ve had a lot of gravy so far. It’s how I found this board back in 2004 - planning my post-treatment Disney Cruise! :goodvibes I was originally diagnosed ten days before our very first Disney Cruise. Our kids turned 6 on the ship, but it was a bittersweet trip for me. God love DH, he goes, “Book another one, it’ll give you something to look forward to when you’re done”. And it was. In fact, the place I went to in my meditations all during treatment (surgery, chemo, radiation) was the top deck of the Disney Wonder! That’s my ship. 🥰 I hope to get back on her someday, too. It’s on my Bucket List. We have a special relationship. 😇

If it was just for the thermostat, definitely, but it's the weekend service call that kills ya.

Anyway, glad you're warm again!
Sorry, I got my numbers wrong. It was actually $760! The service call was $250. Over $500 for a thermostat issue. And it’s still not working right, going on and off, so something’s still wrong. At least we have some heat. 🙏🏻 Going to have to call again tomorrow to let them know.

Pea That is alot of money to fix that issue but the cost of services has been going up alot. I hope your heat comes back fully.

Good morning. It is 19 here, a heat wave. At 1 am last night the fire alarms in the building went off and we had to go outside and wait for the fire dept who did take a while to get here. Remember the garage door that would not go up so people could get out of the garage? It looked like they fixed it at 7pm when I got back from Kennys. However, after that it was opened and would not close. Sprinkler heads froze and burst flooding the garage. While we were standing outside in the freezing cold, water came rushing out of one of the I guess overflow valves. We had to move it was so much and so forceful. Now I am sure it is frozen outside the front door. I felt so bad for those people with canes who had to navigate the stairs including 2 older people on my floor. I could not get back to sleep after getting the all clear and walking up to the 4th floor. I was up another hour or so. Now I am going to go check on my car. Another issue is that it appears that my shower may not be fixed after all. The water did go lukewarm again. I still think it has to do with the heat coming on and going off as I did not have the issue pre heating season. This heating system is strange and not a usual one. Now I am debating about replacing the handle (actually the handle, showerhead and trim) or not. I am thinking of moving out sooner as I just am tired of waiting for the next thing to happen.

Today I am off to Jeff's so see 3 of the grandkids. My youngest DGD has a birthday party. Her social calendar is beginning at almost 4. I made some banana muffins to bring to them as well as another snack. Then errands and more packing. I am on a packing binge lately and feel good when I look into the closet and see empty space.

Have a good day.

Good morning. It was 22 when I got up, but heading for 50 today.

@Pea-n-Me That sounds ridiculous for a thermostat-was it made of solid gold? I hope they aren't going to charge you for a second service call to fix what they didn't get right yesterday. Even the service call seems high to me.

@Snowysmom Yikes to the fire drill alarms and having to stand out in the cold. I hope they get their act together and fix things the way they are supposed to.

Nothing new from here. ProBowl today, the one game I have no interest in, but I'm sure Don will watch, just so he can have football on.

Off to get a roast ready for the crockpot for dinner tonight.

Have a good one.

Good Sunday morning Quackers.

@Pea-n-Me WOOT WOOT on your 20 years! And a big "boo" on the cost of getting your thermostat fixed, only to have it not even really be fixed. Hope they can get it figured out soon...for no extra charge.

@footballmouse hope you had a great time watching Mia.

@Snowysmom that sounds like a miserable night. Hope your day with the grandkids is extra enjoyable.

@dazedx3 That does sound super scary. I am glad nothing more came of it, but I too would be unsettled.

@flyingdumbo127 Happy belated birthday to your day.

Not much to report from this end. The kids are with FH until 5:00 today. I am trying to be productive and get some laundry done. I also need to do a "major" clean of the litter boxes and figure out what I am going to make for supper. I printed off a few new recipes the other day, none of which look too difficult, have few ingredients, and I "think" are something the kids will like. I need to do a major grocery run tomorrow after work.

I am finding that the closer our court date gets the more anxious I am. I just want this to be over, or as over as it can be from a legal standpoint. I know with FH he will always, or at least for a very long time to come, be a jerk to me. I just need to know legally what is going happen with the kids and the rest of the settlement, so I know exactly what I'm dealing with going forward. I think I have mentioned it before, but we are going to put in a settlement offer and see what happens. I would bet all I have he won't take it, but at least it will give us an idea of what he is wanting/expecting from the settlement. I am just worn out.

Anyway, we are supposed to have pretty nice temps here all week, which is nice, except for the mud. I loathe mud. I always. joke that I'll stay put for winter, but I need to head somewhere else for the spring thaw. And, we aren't even really to spring, so we have much mud to look forward to.Ick.

Take care everyone.

@lynxstch You echoed my thoughts exactly. Hope we’re not charged again when they have to come back for what didn’t get fixed right in the first place. My jaw dropped when the guy said the price. And at first, he didn’t add in the service call fee. I wasn’t expecting it to be quite that high. Oh well, I guess that’s how things are now.

@Snowysmom Shocking to hear you and your neighbors had to stand outside in that Arctic air! :faint: My heart hurt just thinking about it, especially for the elderly and frail. I could barely come out from under a blanket in the house yesterday morning. (Make that several blankets, thick socks and a scarf!) Saw so many weather-related problems on the news. That could’ve turned bad for any of them with the stress of that. Hope all are ok. And hope your friend does ok, too.

@frog3101 Thanks, and extra hugs. :grouphug: FH 🤬

Thinking of all and praying for everyone. 🐥

Good Morning dear Friends and Happy Sunday to all.

With all my heart, thank you all for your kind birthday wishes for my beloved dad yesterday, Thanks to God we sure enjoyed a lovely celebration. Dad loved his personalized plate and used it for morning pancakes! He also enjoyed his other surprises. We even got to talk with our cousins in Houston which is always a blessing indeed. I have attached a picture of his gifts opened on his birthday table. Today we will bake cookies to enjoy and mostly share tomorrow with various friends at church. Dad will be dropping them off on his way tomorrow to Walmart and then to Costco. I am looking forward as always to watching online worship.

:grouphug:to all and 🙏extra and always to you Frog! I know I missed a lot yesterday. I did read all the posts. Know each of you is always in my heart and prayers. I thank you always for keeping me and dad in yours. Have a wonderful day and I will check in later.

Pea Thankfully some of the older residents and those with illnesses were able to stay in the small lobby as you enter the building. I stayed outside with others who don't have any major issues. There was not enough room for all of us in there. I felt bad for the doggies too as the noise of the alarms scared them so much they were shaking. And some of the doggies are elderly too. Hopefully they will take this seriously and be sure the problem is fixed permanently, not just a quick fix.

@dazedx3 I hope you had a better night last night. Thinking of you.

I just got back from Jeff's. Sam did not want to take his nap so we just played and watched him crawl around trying to get into trouble. Ellie was very silly today and fun. Luke just wanted to do his artwork. Jeff is going to replace a piece in my shower that he believes will take care of the problem. He did it on his own shower. I picked it up at Lowe's on my way home. I agree that with Jeff that the whole thing does not need to be replaced. Both kids told me not to spend the money yet as they will fix it. This company I use is very good at what they do but they tend to want to do the whole thing and not just replace parts. Not as profitable I guess.

Have a good rest of the day.

Mona, what a lovely birthday your dad had!

I felt so bad for those people with canes who had to navigate the stairs including 2 older people on my floor. I could not get back to sleep after getting the all clear and walking up to the 4th floor.
Something to consider when looking for your next place. I don't know what variety of accommodations are available where you are. We do have some senior facilities here that are all one story duplexes or four plexes. DH's older brother lived in one not far from us and was very nice.
I am thinking of moving out sooner as I just am tired of waiting for the next thing to happen.
Definitely something to consider to take away stress.
I am just worn out.
Many hugs and prayers for you and family.

Besides DS's good news Friday, we got some other good news about our property taxes. I'm sure it's this way with all of ya'll that own a house. We get a tentative property tax statement in June, giving homeowners an opportunity to appeal their property tax. Then in October, we get our statement showing how much we are to pay. It only varies if we appeal the amount and win. We turned 65 in October and took our statement to the County tax office to freeze our taxes. I don't know how it all works but we assumed that what was on the statement would be about what we would pay every year in the future with maybe a slight increase. In December we received a new tax statement with an increase of almost $4000. DH took it to the tax office and they couldn't or wouldn't say why it went up and the person that we should talk to was conveniently out of the office. DH has a client that appeals property taxes for businesses and consulted him about it. He normally doesn't do it for homeowners but since DH is his plumber, he said he would look into it. Five weeks later he calls us and says that we should be receiving a check for $600 where we have overpaid and our property tax would not be going up. And he also said that he would continue to look at our property tax statement each year just in case they tried to pull a fast one on us again. Yay!!!!

Good afternoon

It warmed up to 46 degrees today so that was a pleasant surprise.

I have been lazy all weekend, mostly still trying to get the hard drives figured out so when the new one comes I can get everything backed up. I did find out from a cousin that Amazon Prime offers free cloud storage for pictures so I may start loading them to there. It's just frustrating but I did need to go through some of the Disney pictures anyway to find a couple I want to put on shirts for the Disney Trip. I will be getting very busy by the end of the month with Ella. She is playing Volleyball for 2 local youth organizations and going to Volleyball Camp. My daughter works Friday and Sunday, my son in law is no longer permitted to drive, so of course I get the sweet phone calls. She is a con artist.

@Snowysmom - That did not sound like a fun ordeal in the card but it brought back a memory that made me laugh. When I took one of the Scotland trips with my mom we were staying at a really nice hotel in Peebles. Mom goes to bed earlier than I do but she insisted I needed to be in the room when she went to bed. I just read so it wasn't a huge deal. All of a sudden there were bells going off. Mom told me to turn off the TV. I started to when I realized the TV was off. There was a commotion in the hallway and it was a fire alarm going off. We were told to evacuate immediately. My mom decided she HAD TO GET DRESSED. We were all telling her to throw a jacket on over her jammies but we had to get out. Not my mom. I left her and told her I wasn't waiting I wasn't going to die in Scotland. Scottish weather in July can be wet and cool so we were all outside waiting for the fire engines to arrive. It turned out that some younger people decided to smoke in their room and set off the fire alarm. I still tease her about it.
Here's our group

And the hotel. The lighted room in the middle on the top floor was the culprit room

@Pea-n-Me - Hope you got your heat back. That was a lot of money for a thermostat. If it's the type on the wall for adjusting the temps it was really a lot of money as they only run about $100-$200 and are easy to replace. I have done it once or twice.

@flyingdumbo127 - glad your dad had a nice birthday.

@frog3101 - I hope things resolve soon for your own peace of mind.

Dinner is a pork roast with sauerkraut, mashed potatoes and applesauce. I'll make a vegie too just not sure what kind yet. Not much else going on here. I have 2 doctor's appointments and Jim has another follow-up this week so I'll be running around. My ankle has been swelling so seeing the ankle specialist at my foot drs. practice. I will not get surgery, but I did want to make sure it looks ok.

Hope you all have a pleasant evening.

Snowysmom… thanks, no more incidents last night, I was pretty anxious but just tried to talk to myself to remain calm. I did call the sheriffs office today and they said they did apprehend an intoxicated person.

I finally got all my Christmas decor down this weekend. Late, I know, but they just helped me to feel Kris‘s presence. He wasn’t a fan of Christmas but, always ”played” along because he knew how much I loved the holiday.

Thank you also, Kirby and :grouphug:in your son, continuing prayers of course for him and hooray for property tax win!

Thanks, Taz! Wow that was quite an ordeal!:hug:Picture and plain R&R to you prayers!

:grouphug:❤️Dazed all the extra. Thank God you are safe! Just reading of your ordeal was :scared1:Reminded me of years ago how beyond blessed grandma and I were that we were okay. i was visiting her in Houston when one late night someone came knocking at her door. It was an unknown man. I don't recall specifics at all just that he was definitely not expected, and I don't think had a true purpose for his coming that he shared. Thank God he left peacefully.

:grouphug:extra Snowysmom and may this week ahead bring you extra 🕊️too.

Wishing all of you a good night with sweet dreams.

I’m sorry @dazedx3 I missed you saying that yesterday. We must’ve posting at the same time. Sounds pretty unnerving. Hopefully it was just a one time, strange thing. Do you have a dog with you? Your hitting the window reminds me of a story my mother used to tell when she had an incident like that. She always felt what she did was heaven-sent. Maybe your pounding was, too. ❤️
Trying again today...so far so good...the cursor was jumping all over and words I was typing were getting garbled and then big huge spaces in between sentences and paragraphs. Soo weird. Still kinda happening the longer I take to post this but not as bad as the other day. Soo again this is short...so annoying.

ok....so i had to edit from my laptop because it posted crazy. UGH. Really annoying. guess I cant post from my phone anymore.
My daughter always tells me to make sure my phone is updated when that happens. It usually helps. Try checking for software updates. Glad Dolly is doing well.

Night, all. 🐥
