I'm taking DS7 on short weekend trip in November. He's a very picky eater - pb&j, chicken nuggets, hamburgers, and pizza look to be all I can see on the menus that he'll actually eat (aside from fruit, applesauce and a few less healthy dessert options). He drinks mainly water, no carbonated drinks. Initially, I gave no thought to a dining plan because he's just not much of an eater and I figured I could do much better OOP, but I'm wondering if it could make sense for us to do the QS plan. Though we'll be there for F&W, I don't think we'll spend much time, if any, in World Showcase, so I wouldn't use any credits there. I'm still of the mind the OOP is the way to go, but I want to be sure I'm covering all the bases. If anyone has a different POV, I'd love to hear it. Thanks!

I think the answer may lie in how much your DS can eat. Will the kid's meal portions be enough for him or would/could he eat an adult size burger, pizza, nuggets? If he's a big eater, then the QSDP will save you some money since you pay kid's price for the plan, but can get him adult meals. Having the plan would also mean you could say "YES!" every time he asks for a snack since you would have the snack credits too.

But if he'll be satisfied with the kid's meals, then you'll probably break even, save a little, or lose a little. Just depends on how YOU end up eating with the plan. If you'll be getting an alcoholic beverage or two, then again, the plan will probably save you some money.

Thanks for pointing this out. I need to get my arms around the included alcoholic beverage and factor that in. I won't drink much, for sure, but a drink a day is certainly possible. Might make the difference.

I agree that it all depends on how your boy will eat on vacation. Will he want thos especialty kind of beverages that some of the CS restaurants offer? Does he like to graze, and so will those expensive snacks might be a special treat? Do you eat three meals a day, and will splitting breakfast and lunch make sense? Do you like a glass of wine with dinner, and perhaps something else that is offered? It makes a difference. I knwo that your son drinks water, but if he wants to try a different beverage, you won't cringe if he does not finish it if you are on the plan.

The plan is not for everyone, so check out teh QS meals in the parks you are visiting, as well as in the resort, and go from there. You will then know about how much you will use, and can factor if your son will be getting enough without buying a plan, or if you will be close enough in cost to just bite the bullet and purchase it.
