PVB Tower Charts, Sales Date and more!!!

I think the tower is going to put pressure on GF’s transportation and pools. Just eyeballing the distance but GF monorail/bus might be the same distance or even shorter - I easily could be wrong about that though. I also really am banking on wrist bands for the pools - I have seen it posted multiple times on FB that tower guests should just use the GF pools.
I’ve got some bad news about that. I went to the first board meeting for the Polynesian and asked specifically about crowd control at the pool. I don’t remember the name of the board member that answered the question. She was understanding of my concern, but shared that they are reluctant to wrist band pools because it creates a different set of issues when you restrict access to amenities. 🤷🏼‍♀️ She did say that they will monitor the situation, but are not anticipating an issue because there is no slide at the tower pool.

Somewhat off topic but related. The reason I like the older Fast pass+ was because we could make our choices for a little later and avoid the opening mob. The busses and monorail will be much busier at Poly and GF so I'm sure they will add more busses to cover it, but not sure how much more they can add on the monorail line. We liked to go to the pools when they first open for an hour or two "almost always no crowd" then head over to the parks. Maybe this updated Genie plus will be different, but it seems wasteful the last time we were there in June to purchase it later in the day. Poly was sharing the gym with GF, so hopefully they will end up with their own as well.

Clearly DVC/disney have their own logic about things but using that logic there is no reason to band storm along bay. I do worry the GF main/feature pool will have even more crowding issues going forward because the Poly Lava pool is already consistently crowded even without the tower.

As far as pools - I really think that with the DVC discount- the ultimate pool is Typhoon lagoon and using that makes any pool hopping unnecessary. SAB is kinda a nightmare IMO with kids for supervision

Some fun with Google Earth measurements (obviously some margin of error with these given exact start/stop points and exact path chosen as some have multiple options). :-)

I could be off, but I believe that's shorter than the distance we had to walk from our Kidani rooms at the end of the hallways. We have been at both ends of Kidani. One is slightly shorter, but there's not much to look at.

I also recall a long walk from a BWI hotel room in the 90s when we were the room next to ESPN Club. Seemed like we had to make a number of twists and turns for those hallways, but it's entirely possible we didn't know the shortest route.

Oh I agree! I bought BLT resale this morning and I’m actually looking forward to booking there. I’ve never paid much attention to that resort because the theming in the contemporary just isn’t my thing. Now my attention has shifted from “how pretty is this” to “how crowded is this”

This is so frustrating to hear. If I had to take a guess as to what their biggest "issue" is in restricting pool access to only those who are PAYING FOR THOSE AMENITIES, it would be that they have to add multiple employees to the payroll in order to staff it 7 days a week. God forbid they improve the experience quality for their paying customers!

I called MS this morning to talk through how booking would work. The CM I spoke with was almost clueless. We have a stay already booked with combined poly and RIV points so I just wanted to confirm they could free up my poly points to swap 3 VGF nights for 3 poly tower nights. She had to ask about using non-poly points during the opening booking tomorrow (I already knew the answer was no) then she told me I need to be aware the tower isn’t scheduled to open until Dec 28. After I told her DVC is messaging the 17th she spoke with someone on hold and confirmed it is the 17th.

Based on this I feel like tomorrow morning is going to be an absolute nightmare. We are split booked DEC 18th-26th and I’m wanting to swap our VGF nights for Poly IT 23-25. I’ll see how it goes.

Maybe I don't understand everyone's concerns about the Tower pool. But who are you expecting to go to the Tower pool other than Tower guests? I see no incentive for GF guests to hike over, and I see no incentive for Poly1 guests to use it. But maybe I am not seeing something. 🤷‍♂️

My concern isn’t GF guests going to the Poly pools - it’s the other way around. The GF pools were plenty crowded when we were there in May and I overheard people talking about how they were staying at Poly but had come over to GF to use the pools because they couldn’t find spots at the Lava pool. I also have seen FB posts advocating that poly tower guests use the GF pools if the tower pool seems too crowded - admittedly the FB posts were right around when the poly pool pictures came out and everyone was saying how small the pool looked.

Edited to add: who knows if people were being truthful when they said they were staying at poly though.

I pointed out to them that the point chart for the tower is very high, and with that comes the expectation that I will be able to use the services that come with that price point. (Honestly, price shouldn’t matter, you should be able to use the services at OKW also, it’s just not an issue there). I pointed out that Moana 2 is being released end of November and the Moana water feature is going to draw attention. That one lady said that they are going to monitor the situation.

Unfortunately, there are non guests that come swim at the Disney pools. Poly is vulnerable because you can walk over to the TTC when you are done, and nobody is going to question you. Saratoga Springs is vulnerable because people park at Disney Springs.

This is my concern. I genuinely want all resorts to have wristbands for pool access. It's less about Poly Tower people going to VGF's pool or the other way around, and it's more about people who are not staying at the resort but using its pools because they're easily accessible. Some resorts are obviously more prone to this than others. Poly happens to be one of those due to proximity to the transportation center, MK/Epcot, and visitors coming for popular dining reservations.

It happens more than you think.

I remember my first (and only) stay at Poly in June and the Lava pool required Magic Band to enter. Has that changed ? Why wouldn't Disney do the same for tower pool?

Haven’t they just changed the policy at Caribbean Beach Resort because they recognised that people were coming in on the Skyliner to use the pool?

I believe this was a brief test that has not been implemented on a full-time basis, FYI.
