We just got back Monday night from our first visit at the Poly. I didn't want to leave!!
It was fabulous. I can't think of anything that I didn't love.
We were in the Tahiti Longhouse - Room 3033, in case anyone wants to know where a PERFECT room in. We had the most beautiful view of the castle across the lagoon. We could also see Space Mountain. Our view to the right was of the ferry dock and we loved watching it go back and forth to the MK. The view to our left was of the Grand Floridian and the Wedding Pavilion. We were on the third floor directly overlooking a private beach area with a hammock. We bought a bottle of the Fairy Tale Cuvee and sipped champage while laying togtehr in the hammock watching Wishes. We also had a nice view of the Electrical Water Pageant each night. Our room was just a quick walk away from the Ticket and Transportation Center, yet we never heard any noise from the Monorail or the Ferry. It was just perfect.
Never saw even a trace of mold, didn't think the rooms smelled funny - I know people have reported that before. Our room was spotless and very comfortable. The only bad part was that my height and the patio furniture combined meant that when I was sitting on the balcony I was eye level with the railing so if I wanted to look at the castle I had to stand. If that's the only bad part - I can take it!!
The restaurants are excellent, the gift shops cute and plentiful, and the staff was very friendly. Also, lots of wedding parties seem to stay at the Poly so the evenings were fun - much more of an adult crowd at the bar in the evenings and lots of celebrating.
We are taking my 3 year old son for quick, inexpensive trip in December and will be staying at the ASMo. Now that I have ben spoiled by the Poly I'm sure it will be hard to go back to a Value Resort. We thought about giving another deluxe like the Wilderness Lodge a try but all the reasonable rates at the Deluxes are already booked. My little just loves the Toy Story play area so I guess I'll just have to rough it!!
