PUSH isnt being saved! He is gone!

My son will be so sad about this change. Push was fun and surprising and unique. A dance party is kinda generic. No one on one interaction, no surprise. A little part of the magic is gone. :sad2:

While I like PUSH and will miss seeing it in the parks, the bigger issue for me involves two things:

1. Disney keeps rolling back the things that make it unique and instead is focusing on more generic things that any park has. This is unwise for the long term.

2. Their statement last week that PUSH was sticking around just makes them look like idiots with a PR department that doesn't talk to Operations (or each other). This just adds to the feeling that there's no guiding principle running the show and that it's just chaos internally.

While the second is more troubling for the parks' future, both are a big concern.

My five year old granddaughter was with me in WDW for a week in November. She has told everyone about the "talking trashcan". She has not mentioned any of the dance parties we attended.
Push was one of those elegant little surprises for children. It's sad that those are becoming fewer and fewer at Disney.

Never happened. If there's one thing that has always rang true at WDW it's that Disney NEVER admits they were wrong or that anything is their fault. Just like in that tweet, they will continue to make a joke out of things by telling the guests that "fabulous entertainment" like the dance party in Tomorrowland still exists. I've said it before - I am just one person and my family is just 1 family. However, we are as die-hard as Disney fans get. However, this year, we are not renewing our Disney Annual Passes, but are renewing our Universal Annual Passes. I would bet good money, there are many other families like ours, and if this trend continues (and it sure seems like it will - In fact, it seems like it will only get worse), then more and more families will follow suit. Bottom line - Disney thinks they are invincible. They are not.
While we still enjoy Disney we will visit the parks for 2 days this year instead of many days. We still go we just do less.

Very VERY sad :(
Another lost to just our memories.

However, DiVine better not be next. She is a staple of AK for me.Would be terrible. She wows and surprises guests every single time I see her.

This whole "contractor" thing is ridiculous. Who was under contract, the guy who operated him? Big deal. Hire someone else. Don't tell me the actual trash can itself didn't belong to Disney, or that they couldn't use another trash can and change his name.

The whole thing is typical, as of late, Disney silliness.

FWIW, and you probably won't believe it, PUSH was NOT owned by Disney. The trash can and it's operators was a local Orlando contractor and they owned the product and operations for the "attraction" and had been under contract to Disney to provide the service. My understanding is that some contract language came into play and the owners pulled the attraction, not Disney.

Couldn't agree more. Disney better get their act together. I do however wonder who the Orlando Sentinel used as their "Disney Source" since there was no name or group attributed.

Why would Disney want to invest in something that you can't list as a FP+ attraction or show? Doesn't surprise me in the least. Very sad that another little piece of magic is being taken away without something to replace it.

So pretty much what vicki c said on the first page is true. But it is more fun to just pile on Disney and blame them. Sounds like there is a bit of blame for both sides. Push leaving is not because Disney is a big mean poopy-head, as some seem to think.

While that may be true, Disney's PR department did an awful job explaining the situation. I know they're limited by contractual discussions, but they're just asking people to assume that it's a cost-cutting move by not saying anything.

I'm curious as to what these "revised intellectual-property rights provisions that Disney had inserted" actually are.

Sounds to me like a dispute over ownership of Push. Hopefully, they can get this worked out.

I hate to see another piece of entertainment gone. Watching kids play with PUSH was so much fun - or even adults.

We keep losing entertainment at each of the parks. This makes the day special. Just over the last year or two we no longer have

Miyuki - candy artist in Japan
4 for a Dollar - performed before beauty & the beast
Village Beatniks - AK - near FlameTree
New band at UK - even though they are really good
Ziti Sisters - Italy
Dragon Acrobats - China (replaced)
and on and on and on.

It seems that we have less & less options for casual entertainment. DISNEY - listen up and keep the extra magic a part of the parks.

So sad that Disney has to pinch every penny just to stay open, I'm sure they're about to close up shop and call it quits. It is all of the little things that add up to one "Magical Vacation". Don't get me started on the AC as one of the things Disney has skimped on recently. We were there late October last year and going through Spaceship Earth we were sweating, turn on the Air, quit getting rid of the little touches we love like Push, and quit being so darn cheap!!!!!!!!!!!

I was thinking the same thing, maybe a very strict non-compete clause that would not affect ownership of PUSH but really limit the use of PUSH.

Whatever it is it's nice to hear they are still talking, hopefully it'll work itself out and PUSH will return.

Exactly. It didn't belong to Disney. I doubt the name belonged to Disney either. I understand it was the creator and owner of the item they had the issue with, not the actors who operated him (don't know who they were under contract to, but if it was Disney they could be signed to other contracts with Disney. Unless the only person who ever operated PUSH was its owner.)

I heard the Ziti sisters were canned to channel extra funds into the Frozen meet and greet. Which at the moment is doubtless much more popular.

Just read that. Honestly, couldn't believe it.

Sadly, it all comes down to what it always comes down to with Disney:

It looks like it is as much if not more the contractor's decision as it is Disney's. I'm not sure why Disney is the one being bashed for a decision that isn't totally theirs and might not be theirs at all.

I have learned over the years that some people are unable to see past the "Disney wants to make money" thing. Which is also hilarious since Disney is a business. They think with a big company it always has to be their fault and it always has to be about money. They are always "evil". Big business bad! That sort of thing.

So, what CAN they say? No one knows.

This is all speculation. Unless someone here in this forum was a guest at the negotiations, then no one on these boards knows anything.

To the Disney "you stink" members - you are probably right - Disney does stink for not renewing the contract of a talking trash can no matter what they wanted.

To the Disney "you are great" members - you are probably right - the contractor stinks for not renewing the contract of a talking trash can no matter what they wanted.
