We are already resale owners and now want to look into buying direct. Is it a possibility to purchase a small amount and then build on it? As in we purchase 25 point this year then purchase another 25 point the next and so on. Thanks!!

Yes you can buy small direct and when you reach 75 direct you will get the perks but not before. Assuming that the amount needed won’t increase. .

Ps. Just edited my original post..

You could but why? Direct points are more expensive than resale. You will pay closing costs on each 25 point contract and it will just make those direct points more expensive. With at 25 direct points at a time, you would not qualify for any member benefits. You must purchase a minimum of 75 direct points to qualify.

I also believe that, unless you already own some DVC, the smallest amount that Disney will sell you Direct is probably about 75 points.

This is exactly what we have done. Bought resale first and have now added on 30 and then 33 points on direct. We know we paid more, but it is so hard to find a small contract with the right use year. And, with the prices of resale getting higher and higher, and the more reasonable closing costs on direct, we felt it was worth it.

We own at CCV and bought in September, 2017. Thinking of adding on a few more points there-maybe 50-75 points. My question is, if I want to sell those
50-70 points, is it hard to sell those little points? Or, is the number of points I buy (50-70) added to what I already own at CCV? Never have added
on points before... Thanks!

Little contracts actually sell at a price premium on the resale sites. Bill actually stated how it's easier to move smaller contracts in another thread.
Later selling a larger contract may be an issue, require a lower price or could take months to sell. Most buyers want a smaller contract. We have sold 50 pointers that were gone in 1 day, today we have a 240 pointer for sale and no bites for a couple of months.

Negative. Your membership will display them as two separate CCV contracts. Say, if your add-on is your sixth contract it will have a "[existing contract number].5" amended to it. Your contract purchased in September (assuming it was your last purchased contract) would read as "[existing contract number].4"

Ahhh.. Gotcha. That is what I thought about the 50-70 point contract that it would not be added to my current CCV contract, but was not sure.
Good to know that a 50-70 point contract would sell fast and for premium.. Good to know... THANKS! I would think that little a contract would not sell great as 50 points does not go very far as far as point charts are concerned.. I know at BWV 50 points would only get 3 nights or so... Or less....

It is possible but subject to availability. We don't know for certain it'll qualify for direct benefits but it likely will. My suggestion would be to save up and buy them at one time either resale or direct depending on an independent analysis of those 2 choices. You'll have extra closings on the 2 additional contracts and there's no guarantee that they'll be worth more or even as much going forward. Plus the same option might not be available to purchase in the future.

I’ve done the same; I needed to build up some additional points on top of a resale contract so matching UY and resort was super important to me.

BWV is actually one of the best places to make a small contract work!
I have BWV Dec 16-21 in a standard studio for 50 points. (5 nights)

Lots of people use 50-75 point contracts for every-other-year trips or
to buy their first contract while bypassing DVC minimum purchase req's or
to top off an existing contract (like you are doing).

At some resorts, small contracts are really hard to find because DVC was so strict for awhile on purchase minimums. We probably would have bought many years ago, but we didn't want (and couldn't afford) 160+ points and DVC would not budge.

Your small contract will likely have a better resale value per point than your larger one!
