Purchasing a second contract at home resort.

We have a BCV contract with a Sep UY and we are looking at buying a smaller BCV contract to give us a bit more points. I know that it’s easiest to buy with the same UY, but is it annoying as it sounds to have two different UYs? The thought of waiting for a small BCV contract with the same Sep UY seems like it could be a very long process.

I would buy whichever use year comes up in the price point you want and points you want. Honestly - its fine to have more than one use year - You just end up borrowing a few points from one and banking a few from the other

How soon do you need the points? I think it definitely can be worth waiting for, but obviously not for too long.

I would not recommend a small contract in a different UY…it’s a whole new membership.

That means you can’t use the points with your Sept UY without a transfer which is limited to one per UY.

And, you don’t see them online until you book and can’t use during home resort without a call.

I’d wait for the Sept UY. Or go direct and pay more.

If buying resale contract I would wait at least a couple of months for the right size contract with your UY.

If buying direct.... I would call your guide today and see if you could get a contract today with a September UY. That way you get double points.

I would just buy direct if your looking for 50 points or less. The savings and difficultly of finding a 50 point contract in your UY isn't worth it.

I have two use years, but the second use year is only for BLT where everything else, resale and direct is in the first use year. That makes things easier to deal with.

Under no circumstances would I recommend buying a small contract in its own UY.

The difference between direct and resale at BCV seems a bit extreme to me. I'd probably wait a bit for the right resale contract.

It is except when you are talking 25 point or so and needing certain UY, it might be worth the difference.

What I wouldn’t advise is a second membership in a different UY for a small # of points

I understand your point about very small contracts but you'd still be paying nearly double in the case of BCV. This hurts, even for a small contract. Banking, borrowing and renting points occasionally in some years might be a cheaper option.

I have quite a few 25 point direct BCV points because I wanted small amount of more points at the time. :)
All same UY though, right?

This!

The difference might not be as bad as you think once you pay the fees for that small of a contract.

I’d agree with @Sandisw if 50 or less I’d wait till last minute which might be today (or end of Sept?) and buy direct and get the extra years worth of points.

If you pay $275 for 16 years, that's $17 per year (without fees). If you add the dues at $9 you end up at $26 per point per year. You'd be paying a lot of money for convenience.
