Purchasing a 2nd contract at a different resort? pros / cons

OK I currently have 150pts at SSR and I also enjoy staying at OKW (but would consider others as well).

What are the pros / cons of having a second contract at a different resort besides the obvious?

One of the questions I have is when you transfer points from 1 to another how does the use year and home resort booking advantage come into play?

For example:
150 at SSR
100 at OKW

I want to use 140 at OKW... so could I transfer 40 from the SSR contract to the OKW contract and still get to book OKW using 140pts at 11 months or are those transferred points tied to the home resort they came from?

Home resort points keep their home resort status, you can't mix OKW and SSR at 11 months, only at 7. You want to buy the same UY and title the contracts the same so the contracts will be under the same master contract and you will have only 1 membership.

We have two resorts and love it. We use each differently or for different trips purposes. We have BWV - great for F&W, Star Wars Weekends, etc. We have BLT - great for the holidays, MNSSHP, etc. We sometimes do splits stays.

As Bill said, get the same use year and title everything the same so it's one master contract. It makes managing your DVC so much easier. We also like that we can use banking and borrowing of the two resorts to extend stays or increase accommodation sizes if needed. So, we may bank all of our BLT points (which we are doing this year) to do a nice long trip (i.e. we're doing Christmas and New Year's in 2016). Still have the BWV points for 2015 if desired.
