Purchased CCV (Fixed Week)

Can you modify a fixed week reservation? The "starts on a Sunday and reserves thru Saturday" is the problem for us. So, could you keep the days on your reservation that you want, but cancel a couple at the end and add onto the front (subject to availability and paying actual required points) to travel say Thursday to Wednesday instead (for example)?

Cant modify but if we use the fixed week I have extra points with the plan to add on to the reservation. It's why the extra points will come in handy not to mention our other contract at BWV.

Am I reading correctly that you paid $124/point? I thought that starting price for direct CCV was $220... thanks

The baseline was $205 ish for the 118 point fixed week. By adding an extra 32 points you hit the 150 point incentives. So those extra points that I originally didn't plan to buy were that lower cost because of hitting that higher incentive.

When I saw it so cheap it was a no brainer since we could still do cash.

Yeah, it was easy for us because we always do at least one weekend and we love Food and Wine, so it's perfect for us.

I love, love this idea. If I could do this a resort that fit 5 in a studio I would have called yesterday. I just can’t pay direct prices for enough points for a 2 bedroom.

Do you happen to know what happens if they ever stop doing the food and wine rundisney weekends? Do you just have a certain set FW at that point?

Well going back and forth for a while and thinking about it since March when sales shut down I ended up moving forward with direct points at CCV. I sold my 2 smaller BWV contracts I had purchased in the fall for a wash (but stripped the contracts) to set this up.

I ended up doing:
Fixed Week 49 - Studio - 118 Points
37 Additional Points

Based on the extra incentives by getting to 150 points it was $124.03/point for the extra 37 points inclusive of all closing costs which was a no brainer since I can afford it and always just sell that smaller contract off if we find we really don't need the points.

As a heads up there was no September Use Year Points currently but we ended up putting this in line with our current UY that we have for our BWV contract anyways.

We may or may not use the fixed week but figured it was a good long term benefit to have the point totals locked in for when the kids get to high school or college.

I think they are just saying the additional cost to add on 37 points was only $4588 (because at 118 points you only get $5 off but at 150 you get $25) so $4588/ 37 points = $124 (i'm just backing into these #s). They didn't pay $124 for all 155 points. Not possible. Technically paid $195 per point for all of them... it's just a different way of looking at it as it became very inexpensive to "bump up" to the bigger discount level.

Actually, I kind of wonder if they are computing as if there was no discount. It's messy because closing costs are being included...

Haha sorry what it is:
118 points fixed week for $25,945.00 (very little incentive)

I made the decision to buy off that math. I then looked at buying the extra 32 points.

32 point contract for $3969 (the incentive applied to all 150 points but I only looked at the cost uplift from 118 to 150 when doing this math).

It was two completely different decisions. Buy the fixed contract then after decided on that look at what the next discount was.

Yep, our FW is deeded at week 44, so if the Wine and Dine races were ever cancelled, our FW would revert to week 44. That's why we did it - we love Food and Wine and go pretty much every year, so we're still happy to have a FW during Food and Wine. Even though Marathon weekend is the least likely race to ever be cancelled, we wouldn't really want to be "stuck" going for a week every January if it ever was. Ditto April with Star Wars (although that is the newest race so it seems like it would be the most likely to be axed first). Princess Weekend is of course a great race weekend as well and Festival of the Arts is fun, but it's more expensive points-wise.

Yeah I mean if you were buying week 44 or one of the weeks before or after, it makes far more sense to get the Wine and Dine week instead because it's much more flexible. You don't have to run or register for the race. But if you weren't buying one of those weeks, it doesn't make nearly as much sense to alter your long-term planning that much.

I do think we're ultimately happiest with our FWs of 47 & 48 for two weeks of Thanksgiving and the beginning of Christmas Holidays. But we DO also love Wine & Food Festival, and having a fixed week for that so we don't have to deal with Fall Frenzy booking is pretty nice -- but admittedly we also MNSSHP, so it's likely I'd want an October date instead. If the trend continues to keep W&F going to right before Thanksgiving, though, at least it means my Week 47 will, most years, include a few days of W&F, tough.
