We just had eight beautiful beardie puppies. My wife took the mommy in for x-rays because she was trying to make a bed in the corner of our room and the vet saw eight puppies. After a long day of meetings and a closing, I get a call from my kids telling me that the puppies are coming and that Lessa had the first on the couch. Before I can get home, the kids moved her to the whelping box and delivered another puppy.

Four males and four females. We have one mis-marked (mostly white), six black and white puppies and one brown. It is unusual to get a brown out of two black and whites but the great grand dad of one of the dogs was a brown.

My kids did a great job assisting in the delivery. There was one breach birth. I stood back and watched and help but it was fun watching the kids do this. Of course, the mommy actually did most if not all of the work other than having the breach puppy pulled out by my daughter.

My DW made it home for the last three deliveries.

The puppies are so cute, even though they have their eyes closed..

Congratulations!! Beardies are some of the happiest dogs on earth..imho!

Where are the pictures? I must have missed another post, what kind of puppies are they? What an awesome experience for your kids :)

How delightful!!! Congratulations on the 8 wonders. Now the fun starts!! Ahhhh....the smell of puppy breath. And we'll be waiting for the pictures. We all need something to cheer us up with the world going haywire.

Congratulations on your 8 puppies!!! I agree, we need pictures!!!

Congrats, enjoy them!! :D
We did the "puppy thing" a couple summers ago with our chocolate Labrador. She had 9, DH was gone so I played midwife. We had a kiddie pool in the garage lined with some old blankets and that's where she had them, but she wanted me to be right there with her so I sat in a chair beside the pool and she was happy with that. She had no problems, so I was very thankful for that! We had such fun with the puppies, and it was a good "money maker" for DH as both the mother and father were registered. We did have an accident with one puppy though, he fell into a hole (the boards covering it had shifted) and broke his leg but the vet pinned it and he ended up being good as new. I had a hard time letting that one go to his new home, as I "bonded" with him during the whole process. But it was good to send them off to their new homes, as they were time-consuming...but still a great experience! :D

Congratulations on your first litter. I remember the first litter we had too. If you have one take a heating pad and put it under the towels that you have in the whelping box for added warmth. It is interesting that she had just one brown puppy. The genetics of breeding has always been of interest to me. We have a black and tan doxie that carries a red recessive gene. When she was bred to a red doxie, she had all red pups. We are breeding her daughter (red) to a black and tan male, so it will be interesting to see what she will deliver.

Awww, new puppies are so sweet. Congratulations :)
