Pumpkins, and candy, and Mickey, oh my! (TR complete!)

Beth just caught up with your tr. I'm so glad you enjoyed the tour. I guess that will be on my to do list if I ever make it to DL. Great pictures of the fall decorations on the strip, that thing creeped me out too.

:dancer: Yay! Make sure you include every last little detail, cause inquiring minds need to know. . . :rolleyes1
:rotfl2: I bet they do!

I
I also loved the Dept. 56 store displays..i have pics of the halloween one and the Christmas one in my report.
Oops, it's Dept. 56. I put 59 earlier. Oh well, I almost put Dept. 69 but I knew THAT couldn't be right! :rotfl:

So tell us, what happened Saturday!? Oh pleasseeee!!!!
I will, I will! :rotfl: Once I recover from my candy hangover as Callie calls it. LOL

I'd definitely recommend taking the tour. It's worth it. :thumbsup2

Hope you are all having a good weekend. Well, Halloween has come and gone. It was a good one. We had lots of kids come by trick or treating. Ruben did a great job of decorating the outside. He had fog machines, music, a graveyard, pumpkin patch, etc. Several people took pics and just about everyone said how cool it looked.

I spent all morning putting things from inside and outside back away and organizing the garage. I'm pooped! But it's done, all Halloween is gone and I now have my Thanksgiving stuff out. I don't have much of that though. Seems like it's hard to find nice Thanksgiving items. The stores all skip right to Christmas!

Speaking of which, I had an urge to watch Christmas With the Kranks today for some reason. LOL

Well, have a great weekend everyone. I will try to update asap. :)

We didn't have any halloween decorations. Just some Fall stuff that I plan on leaving up until after Thanksgiving. Later today we're going to Target and Michaels to see if they have halloween decor on sale for next year. We want to get into it more next year.

What kind of Thanksgiving stuff do you have? I rarely see anything Thanksgiving except throw pillows.

I actually put silk leaves on my fireplace mantle with pumpkin gords (three of them, one for each child). I also do put a paper turkey on my front door. I have a full glass door. That is the extent of my Thanksgiving decorations. I would love to hear what Beth does though. Oh and btw Beth do you have any pictures of your yard?

We still don't have a mantel over our fireplace. We need to have a shelf or something made but we haven't gotten around to it yet. I want to get one up before Christmas though.

That's the way to do it. But the stuff now for next Halloween. The stuff we have we've been collecting for awhile. We add an item or two after each Halloween.

As for Thanksgiving, it's all indoor stuff, except for a Welcome scarecrow type thing that hangs on my door. I have a display on my table with leaves, a mini hay bale, scarecrow, pumpkins, a turkey. And I have some candle holders and other ceramic things like......what are those called, the things with the fruit falling out of it? Cornicopia or something? LOL I have some of those.

I guess it's all stuff you could find at Michaels. It's more Fall really then Thanksgiving.

I don't do much. Mine sounds a lot like yours. Simple things here and there. Nothing like Halloween at all. LOL

Sadly I don't have pics of our yard. Our camera won't do night shots. They either turn out blurry so you can't make out what it is, or you can use the flash so it's not blurry but then it's all whited out. I've never found a camera that does good night shots. Well, not one I could afford!! :rotfl:

We had one side of the driveway as a graveyard. That had the skeletons, and tombstones, the strobe lights and the fog machines. Some rats, giant spiders and spider webbing. It was the scary side. LOL

Then on the side near our doorway, we had a pumpkin patch. About 7 or 8 different pumpkins. Some pumpkins lights and lighted bats hung in the tree. The bushes were all covered in webbing. We had some skeleton in a cage hanging in the tree with a motor that rotates it.

There was a flying skeleton dude that flew from one side of the garage to the other. Ummmm, what else..... Oh, another fog machine on that side. I can't remember what else. Ruben is in charge of the outside. I stay away from that.

We also had music. Songs like Thriller, the X-Files theme, the Halloween theme, etc. Really fun Halloween songs. It was funny to watch some of the adults who looked to be about my age, because when the Thriller song would come on, they'd start to dance. :rotfl:

It was fun. Ruben went to buy another fog machine this morning. And who know what else!! LOL
I want to check and see if I can find some cute costumes left on sale. Now's the time to buy them when you can get them cheap! :thumbsup2

We still don't have a mantel over our fireplace. We need to have a shelf or something made but we haven't gotten around to it yet. I want to get one up before Christmas though.

It took my DH 8 years to fix our mantle (was nothing but bricks) and he's a carpenter for a living so I feel your pain. For Christmas I have holly and then I bought gold wire deer with ornaments in them at Joann's. Really cute I might add.

i'm picturing your yard in my head and it sounds cool. Oh and I would be one of those adults dancing to Thriller.

I'm back and all caught up:banana: I never did end up getting sick but it took a few days to get out of my funk but I guess its over:goodvibes...loved the ballagio pics....

Anyway, they bought me the Twilight book! Finally I'll get to read it and see what all the fuss is about. :rotfl:

I just thought I'd share that since I know some of you reading along are Twilight fans. :)

fans??? ahem no...more like obsessed crazed lunatics:lmao:

They had two CMs there doing free face/arm painting so the girls decided to get that done. (Ugh! Noelle is growing out her bangs but she will not keep them out of her face. I am always yelling at her about that.....and then I realize I sound just like my mother. "Get your hair out of your face young lady!" Yikes!)

gf dont you know thats the style??? they wear their bangs to the side covering one eye...my dd has had that for awhile now....

"Team Jacob... because I prefer my men with a pulse, thank you." :rotfl:

blasphemy...you are banned from this thread...go away!!!:lmao:

You know I am going to try a Tinkerbell twist next time we go. It should be warm and that will be refreshing. I finally figured out how to upload my pictures from my kodak to photobucket so I am thinking about puting my random pictures of northern California in a thread on the other California trips section.

They are good. Sour watermelon and sour apple. Yum. I can't find them in DL though. Only DCA for some reason.

mmm I bought 2 of them on my trip...it reminds me of watermelon jolly rancher

Hey Lynn, I just wanted to let you know that I read your review of the Halloween tour at DL. Sounds fun! Sorry it was so crowded though. We were lucky, our first three days at DL (Tues, Wed, and Thurs) were just fine! After that, Fri and Sat were a mess!!

Im glad you got to read it:goodvibes

Lynn, glad you like the Tink twists too! And that you are feeling better now. :goodvibes Oh, and when I first saw your sig......I thought why does she have 4th of July stuff up already?????
Then I read what it said.

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

This is my public service announcement for the day: Don't forget to change your clocks before you go to bed! Change them to what, you ask? Well, that's up to you. :rotfl: Heck, tomorrow's Sunday. Just unplug 'em!

That sounds awesome! We ended up getting a few halloween things at Target (they were all 50% off.) Michaels didn't really have much. I got some Fall garland for 70% off and some stuff for our window box outside. But nothing Halloween.

Our house is new...just built this summer. We didn't like any of the mantles our builder offered so we just have a fireplace with travertine around it. And the wall is totally bare. Here's a photo...

We just want a simple shelf above it so I'm hoping it won't be too expensive.

Sorry to hijack the thread.

I know! I kept grooving to it as well. Have you ever seen 13 Going on 30? It's such a CUTE movie and they do a whole Thriller dance scene in it. So funny. :lmao:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wO0810JIF4Q

That movie is cute. Whenever I see it on, I'll watch it. My husband will come in the room and go, "13 going on 30? Are you serious?" I like the Thriller part but I'm so picky that it bugs me that they don't do the dance exactly like Michael.

Has anyone else attempted to learn that dance? Or am I the only nerd?

That fireplace is nice. We have one too although why we need a fireplace in Las Vegas is beyond me. LOL

I've never tried to learn the dance, but each time I watch that scene I always think I'd like to! :rotfl:

Do you ever use your fireplace? We haven't used ours yet although there were some days we probably could have. Not today though. It was around 70 out, I think.

The dance is suprisingly hard.

Here are three weird Thriller videos....

Indian Thriller

A bunch of prisoners in the Philippines

Lego Thriller

I'd seen the first two before, but the Lego one was pretty amazing. Who has that much time on their hands?

Our 6th graders did the Thriller dance as the opening to our parade yesterday. Very impressive. They were my babies from my first year in the classroom, so it was very exciting to see them out there dancing.

How cool is that!

I'll have to check out those videos. I have some running around to do today and then I will update tonight. Promise. ;)

I know some of the dance but not all of it. The prisoners' one I think I saw somewhere on the news or Oprah or some kind of show like that. The Lego one was cute but weird.

ive seen the indian thriller and the prison one a long time ago but had never seen the lego one...that was amazing...especially them clapping...

After we had said our good-byes to Ruben's parents, and gathered up our stuff, we were back in Disneyland. The horse and trolley car were up by the front of Main Street getting ready to load passengers, so we quickly hopped on. I realized I can't remember ever riding down Main Street. We are usually to busy to be bothered. It was nice.

As we were riding along, I happened to notice the horse's back side. It was staring us in the face after all! LOL It had a Halloween decoration on it! :rotfl: Boy, and I thought the Halloween napkins were impressive. This was a whole new level of holiday theming.

After the horse ride, I let Adam and Noelle take off on their own for a bit. They wanted to do Autopia. Ruben and I took the twins and went on Snow White, and then the Storybook boat ride.

I wanna live here!
DSCF5828.jpg

Or here! I'm not picky. One can be a summer home. ;)
DSCF5830.jpg

The detailing and work that goes into this ride is amazing. I love it.
DSCF5832.jpg

We went on the Matterhorn and then headed over towards Big Thunder Ranch. The twins wanted to take pics with the little pumpkin dude. They had on those Ghouls Night Out tees I had posted in my PTR, the $3 ones from Walmart. They got so many compliments on these! I had two CMs and one parent both stop me to ask where I got them. LOL

Me and the lil pumpkin dude.

We met up with Adam and Noelle again and decided to get some dinner at French Market. I've never eaten there before so I can't comment on how their food used to be before the menu change, but now.....it was soooo good!
They had the band playing and Queenie singing while we were there too, which was nice.

I got the Four-Cheese Pasta & Vegetable Gratin - A creamy blend of Cheddar, Smoked Gouda, Provolone and Asiago surrounding tender pasta and smooth, subtle bites of Shiitake Mushroom and Cauliflower Florets topped with Seasonal Breadcrumbs. Oven-baked to a golden finish. With Seasonal Vegetables and Cheddar Corn Bread.

I would absolutely order this again.
DSCF5844.jpg

Ruben got the Plantation Citrus Chicken - A French Market specialty! Succulently Roasted Chicken Breast, seasoned with Citrus and Cajun spices. With "Market" Smashed Potatoes, Seasonal Vegetables and Cheddar Corn Bread.
This was also really good, I sampled some, lol and he liked it too.

DSCF5845.jpg

The kids all had the chicken and rice. They liked it well enough, but it was nothing spectacular.
DSCF5848.jpg

And of course, no meal is complete at Disney without dessert. Especially when it's Jack! It's hard to make out in the pic, but the whip cream was shaped like Zero. LOL
This was cheesecake with raspberries on top. It was nice and creamy. Yum.
DSCF5842.jpg

After dinner, we waddled, lol, over to Haunted Mansion again. Can't get enough of this ride and the Nightmare Before Christmas theme!
DSCF5850.jpg

From there we took some pics in New Orleans Square. They had the stairway decorated for Christmas already which was a little weird, but oh well. Nothing like Halloween tees and Christmas trees.

DSCF5857.jpg

DSCF5858.jpg

We went on POTC and then climbed Tarzan's treehouse. It's been ages since I've done that.

DSCF5859.jpg

DSCF5862.jpg

DSCF5863.jpg

From the treehouse we walked over to Jungle Cruise. I love that ride at night. Then we stopped in to see the Tiki Room show and of course, we had to grab a Dole Whip float and pineapple spear while we were there. (Sorry it's blurry! My camera hates to take pics in low light. Grrrr!)

DSCF5867.jpg

Disneyland closed at 8 again that night, so we decided to start heading towards Main Street. We ended up hopping on the last train for a circle around Disneyland, then it was time to go back to the hotel.

I was so tired, but it had been another good day. Tomorrow we'd be at California Adventure and the Mickey's Trick or Treat party!! I wonder if we'll get enough Halloween candy......:rolleyes1
