Publix near HIFS

What kind of store is Publix? Is it similar to Walmart?
Can I buy items such as milk, juice, snacks, diapers, and tylenol there?

Publix is a grocery store. It is not nearly as big as Walmart, but you can certainly buy diapers, snacks and groceries there! If you are going to WDW before 2/3/03 and staying at the HIFS, I have some coupons for a free pizza party at their Pizza Hut Express which is onsite. Publix is a good grocery store.....and you do not have to fight the crowded WalMart store if that is what you are needing....and it is very easy to get to from HIFS.....any other other questions email me or ask....use the Publix often...

Can you give us directions from HIFS to this Publix store? I know I can ask for directions once I get to the hotel, but it would be nice to know how far (as in miles and minutes) beforehand. That way, I can decide whether to go the first day and not lug water bottles and juice on the plane or go later in the week.

We were staying on 192 west of Rt 4 and there was one about two miles down the road on the right. There was also one on 192 east of 4. Actually, there are quite a few markets around there but are hard to spot because of all the neon clutter along the strip. If you are from outside the area,watch out for "supermarkets" all over the place. Most are low-end convenience stores,not even up to your basic 7-11. Orlando businesses play fast and loose with business names in order to sucker in the tourists.

There is a Publix on 192 but every time we try to use this road (we usually go during the summer months) it takes forever to get anywhere. Even with the construction done, this road moves very slowly a lot of the time.

The new Publix, which is near HIFS, is actually on SR535. HIFS is on SR536. Take a right out of HIFS on 536, opposite direction as the DisneyWorld gate, and take this road until the first major intersection with a stoplight which is 535. On the corner is a small shopping mall. Take a left on 535 and follow this past the Holiday Inn Sunspree, under I4, past Crossroads shopping mall and the Goodings supermarket, and then about 1 1/2 miles on your right you'll see the new Publix set back off the road.

SR535 also gets busy, but we still like it better than 192.

I believe the grocery stores in Florida pretty much all sell wine and beer.

Hi,

I hope that you and your family LOVE HIFS as much as mine did!

There is actually a Publix very close to HIFS. If you leave the hotel turning right and go through the first traffic light (past the new Gaylord Palms Resort), you will see the Publix on your left just after you pass under the Greenway/417 Highway. Much closer I think than going into LBV off of 535, although the other Publix has other shops around it that you might find fun. With regard to beer and wine, the Publix does sell a full variety of both.
