Longest day ever!!!
I made sure to plan lots of things to do today, because "day before's" are always the hardest. I can't stop thinking about how my vacation is just about to begin.
I did laundry last night.

And did some more laundry late last night. and what do you know, did some more this morning. I'm the kind of person who just lets it pile up until I have five or six loads to do. Bleck, I need to get better about that. I am also the sort of person who puts clothes in the washer and forgets about them. I threw in my first load about 3 o'clock. Then, at 5:30, you see me running through the living room and into the laundry room, yelling, "Crap, crap, crap! Next load I'm going to remember." Then four or five hours later you see me running through the kitchen going, "Crap, crap, crap, I forgot my clothes again!"
Needless to say, doing laundry takes a
long time for me. But I managed to get everything nice and clean and folded and by about 8ish this morning, I was all packed up!
This is all for an 8 day trip. The backpack has all our Disney info, books for me to read on the ride, phone chargers, and our park bag is inside of it. The pink bag is my "overnight" bag. I decided since I'll only be at DBF's family's house for that one night, I might as well through my clothes, flat iron, makeup and toiletry bag into one place and not worry about lugging in my suitcase. I plan on using it to throw dirty clothes in when we're done.
I sent DBF a pic of all my stuff, asking if he thinks it'll all fit in his car and his response was, "Well, I don't have that much junk, but I guess it'll work." I politely replied with "All right."
Last night (between running back and forth to the laundry room) I took the advice of fellow DISers and made index cards with our ADRs and show times. I meant to take a photo of them, but I forgot to and the camera battery is charging. Hmmph.
But just believe me when I say that they are pretty cool. I made sure that on each of our EMH days (the 19th and 20th) we had three to four hours to go back to the room and rest. Luckily, DBF and I don't absolutely have to see the parades in the afternoon, which is going to give us a great oppurtunity to take a break from the madness.
In addition to packing this morning, I baked a cake!

Now, you must know, I am NOT a baker. Or a cook. Or any form of culinary genius. I am the dishwasher. The busboy. The waitress. Anything that doesn't involve food preparation.
(Except microwaving stuff. I'm a master at that.)
I felt bad, though, about going to DBF's parent's house without something to give them. So with my mother supervising, I made a butternut pound cake....from scratch!!!

And it actually turned out great. Of course, I ended up wearing half the flour and dropping an egg on the floor, but besides that, everything went smoothly.
Later today, my mom is treating me to a manicure/pedicure as a gift for getting A's in all my classes this semester. Yay! The last time I got pampered was when DBF came home from his deployment back at the end of June. The people we normally go to are fantastic with designs, so I am going to see if I can get either a really Christmas-y or a really Disney-ish design. By Disney-ish, I mean swirls and sparkles and firework appearances.
I think I'm most excited about this because it'll give me a chance to relax and enjoy myself. These past few days have been nuts with finals, packing, calling DBF every five seconds to make sure he's getting ready.
Speaking of DBF, I suppose I should mention that he's doing great about not procrastinating. He cleaned out his car last Thursday, got an oil change and money transferred yesterday, did laundry Sunday, and all he has left to do today is get a haircut (when you're in military, you can't have your hair touching your collar or your ear, so DBF has to get it cut every other week.) and pack.
Even better news, he convinced someone to let him get off work early tonight! Normally, he gets off at 12, and since he's the shift leader I didn't think he'd be able to sneak out before then. Thankfully, the guy taking over his shift while he's at WDW was amiable and agreed to start one day earlier.
This all means that he gets to go to sleep sooner, wake up earlier, and we get to leave ahead of schedule. Yay!
I'm sure I will post one more time before we leave, so I'll go ahead and end this post. I'll leave you with a picture of my bulletin board with my countdown down to one!!!
