PTR JULY 2012: I talked my way into another Disney Day! 6-30

We have done the Cape May breakfast - cute characters - they are all wearing beach wear. The breakfast is good, but does not have the made to order omelettes like at some of the other restaurants. We have not done dinner - my kids are not into seafood. We thought about trying it last summer with free dining, wish I had, but we didn't.

I know what you mean about the "forbidden fruit" theory!

That is the most difficult thing I encounter as a travel agent now - when people are making choices that are not optimal (like staying offsite, not booking ADRs)...........it takes a lot of restraint! I offer the pros and cons, but it is ultimately their decision.

We liked the breakfast and the Clam bake. I loved the pictures with the characters in their beach attire! The buffets cost so much that we really wouldn't have selected it anyway.

I set up a tripod for these pictures...the servers are quiet slow and not around for photos. I was so happy I had my tripod!

I can only imagine how hard it would be to remain calm when clients aren't following advice that would help them have the best Disney experience! I would imagine that I would have a hard time restraining myself!!

I always struggle with the title thing too!

Well, I figured out a title... the link is in my siggy. :lovestruc

Was your trip wonderful?

It was better than I thought it would be - the girls actually got along most of the time. I think their dad had a "conversation" with them before we left. :thumbsup2

Your tr was quite busy while you were gone. I didn't jump into the party; I just sat in the corner amused.

Yah - my Dis friends like to hijack... They claim it's not because they like me - they just like to interfere in my space. :confused3 LOL It's all good, I'm not all that possessive about my threads anyways.

I think I read somewhere that one of the girls was sick. I hope it was short lived.

Yah, Allison was sick the last 2-3 days of our trip. There was something going on with her stomach... It would come and go - but when it came there was some pretty fierce cramping - she never vomited though - which isn't unusual, my girls are like me, and they will hold it in, because they refuse to be "sick" anywhere else, but at home. I really thought she had a virus of some sort, but we have been home for a week now, and neither V or I have come down with anything (knock on wood) - and we did a lot of bottle sharing in the parks, until Alli got sick. So, now I am leaning towards possible food poisoning or something a long those lines.

The day we flew out was probably the worst because I just wanted to take her to the Dr. but if I would have done that, we would have risked missing our flight... In the end - she was feeling well enough to fly. I was going to take her to the Dr. the minute we landed - but she said she wasn't feeling as bad. When she woke the next morning, after sleeping in her own bed - she said she felt a million times better. She hasn't been sick since.

The girls play travel soccer so it is pretty competitive. They are on the "C" team for our club, and try outs are coming up next month. We are hoping they move up to the "B" team. They really enjoy it; I hope they continue to, because dh sure does too. :rolleyes1

I hope they make the "B" team - how awesome for them! :lovestruc

Okay so I haven't had my morning brew yet so lost you a bit but think I managed to get it by the end lol.

Well, you completely managed to confuse me! That's not saying much, though because it's Friday night and need I say more?!:goodvibes

I know what you mean - people who don't plan at all make me nervous! Especially when it's their first trip. I mean, really, you could probably go at the drop of a hat and be fine. Do a quick check of EMH days and such, and you'd be good to plan as you go when you get there.
But for a first trip - well, that's just way too much!

My neighbors went last summer for the first time and had a great time, still rave about how wonderful it was. However, I'm not sure if they got everything out of it they could. She still thinks the meal plan is something that "came with the room" and they ate breakfast and dinner at the hotel every day. :sad2:

Sorry. I hope to refrain from late night writing myself...:goodvibes

Oh my! It always stresses me out when I read that someone hasn't done any planning!

I always want people to come back from a terrific trip and talk about how wonderful "our" happy place is! :thumbsup2

They certainly missed out on some great restaurants! Since this family isn't staying on property, it is even more worrisome. They don't have the extra magic hours or the Disney transportation that dh and I rely on to get more accomplished! :scared1:

I'm sure they will have a great time. They are the type to make the best of situations anyway.

Yep; it's because you didn't drink your coffee :rolleyes1 nothing to do with my lack of cohesion!

HOORAY!!!

Glad to hear it! My girls pick up pixie dust as we enter property. They are quite touchy feely with one another. Something they never do at home!

I thought it was fun...Made for fun reading when you returned, I'm sure! :rotfl:

that absolutely stinks!

Maybe she was homesick (with a ting of something else?) Glad she's better!

D~

Thanks- We hope so too--super scary. The waiting after tryouts feels like an eternity too!

Love the pictures!!!!

Thanks!! I have so many; I really need to organize them (still.) sigh.

Hello Dis friends!

After a very disappointing tournament with the girls' team playing terribly, we headed to the indoor game today where they were undefeated. were. They showed up and played, so no shame to their loss. It was also to an A team. The girls held them to only one goal and a penatly shot.

Dh is miserable: he's doing poorly in his March madness pool, Union lost, and his dear daughters lost.

On to happier thoughts!! TRIP planning!!!

I asked dh where he wanted to eat. He replied, it doesn't matter, I won't listen to him anyway. I told him that of course I would. He wants to eat at Prime Time.

I have several places I want to eat on this trip. I think I will have to cut back though.

Must do:
Prime Time (dh)

High Priority:
The Plaza
Via Napoli
California Grill
Brown Derby
Sanaa or jiko
Captain Cook's or Kona

Consideration:
Rainforest Cafe
La Hacienda

Your dining plans look great!
I think Rainforest would be pretty neat to eat at

So sad that the girls lost. :( That's always hard when they are undefeated going into the game.

Lots of good choices -- how will you ever decide which ones to go with?

Ya know, I have only been to a couple of those. Sanaa.. Kona and well, RFC here and DL.

So Prime Time is the must do? You have me curious. What is it that makes it a must do? Is there a particular menu item?

Plaza and Via Napoli are on our list for the summer, as well. I hope we can make both of them.

Don't stress about the soccer. There are going to be lots of wins and lots of losses. It's a game, and you're on to another day in life. Lessons in being good winners and good losers are learned. Trent ended his soccer career in a hospital having emergency surgery, so it quickly put everything into perspective for me.

I think so too, but I am not sure if it will make the cut.

It doesn't bother my girls (which is a good and bad thing...)

Not sure how to decide!

Ya know, I have only been to a couple of those. Sanaa.. Kona and well, RFC here and DL.

It's a must do because dh prefaced it with "You don't listen anyway..." :rotfl2: So, to prove that his input is important, we will eat there. I don't know why he wants to eat there. I have to wait to ask or he will think I am trying to weasel out of it.

We ate at the Plaza for the girls 7th bday, so it holds that special memory. We haven't eaten at Via Napoli. I am anxious to try a pizza, but we will have to order something additional too. Hannah doesn't like pizza...:confused3 she likes dough, cheese, pasta sauce...just not together?;)

I told the girls that I don't care if they lose every game as long as they are doing their best. Emma always gives 100%; Hannah - eh- maybe I am too hard on her... They are terrific losers- they don't care...:rotfl:and they are terrific winners...they don't care....:lmao:

They love the game. DH and I are competitive people, so we want them to win. In the scheme though, it has no importance to anything. We both know that. That must have been awful for Trent and frightening for you!

I want them to make the B team because they will progress more (neither of them like when they are in a sport that they are not improving) and I think our soccer club has more interest/ more investment in the better teams. It is a high likelihood that they will stay on the C team, and that will be just fine too.

For some reason today, I started thinking about our pictures from Disneyland. I started to worry that I didn't have them saved, and I only had the prints (that I printed) of some characters! After a little bit of time, I was able to locate the back up disc. So let's go back in time...

Emma was born with a cavernous nasal tip hemangioma. She was on a steriod from 3 to 11 months of age to prevent its growth. By the time she was three, it stablized to look like this...

i-Jp6j59q-M.jpg

Notice the robes...(no doubt purchased my mom- the girls' memom...)

i-88M4jpj-M.jpg

Long story- if anyone is interested I will trace our journey, but for now I'll jump towards the end.

We took Emma an outpatient facility in Beverly Hills for Dr. Reinisch to remove the hemangioma. (He was at the time the head of ped plastic surgery at LA Children's hospital.) Dh's family lives in the San Jose area and two of his aunts flew to be with us during the surgery. (We are so blessed.)

My sleeping beauty...
i-WqMRMZV-M.jpg

I planned for us to drive the hour to Disneyland the day after surgery. My FIL graciously bought our tickets.

Since I wasn't the Disney freak I am now, I didn't get any pictures other than character shots...haha.

I have to tell you that Chip and Dale were wonderful. Really, looking at these pictures - all of the characters were wonderful!

Hannah got right up to hug Dale.
i-bxncGns-L.jpg

Dale went to Emma in the stroller and coaxed her out. I think he felt they had a lot in common!

Thinking back to this is making me cry!

What a wonderful meet and greet...have a seat, let's talk!

i-DwMXKsR-L.jpg

How did we get away with touching Tigger's head :confused3

i-TNqnZ78-L.jpg

We saw Goofy as we left... (and we really only went in serach of characters. We only did like three rides...Snow white or Winnie the Pooh which scared the heck out of my girls..., Dumbo and the Carousel.)

i-dXZ5pZR-L.jpg

The one character we missed was Donald. Of course it wasn't until we were home that Emma was upset about it...

When we saw Daisy in AK in 2008, Emma was ready to burst!

She was worried about being "too cool" at 6-1/2. She asked her sister if she was going to get Daisy's signature...I interjected immediately. I knew that Emma was tickled by the approaching Daisy!

i-jTJgz7H-L.jpg

She still looks pretty tickled, huh? (Dec 2011)

Thank you so much for taking us with you down your walk down memory lane. I love reminiscing! Disney is a great place to visit after you have taken a journey like that. Your girls were (and still are) so cute! What age were they? Then in 2008 they were about the age my dd is now. They look so much more grown up than in the DL pics.

They were three and a half in Disneyland. Then, they were six and a half. My girls are tall and always have been. The Dec picture is of them two months shy of ten.

Here is a picture of them at 6-1/2 with a princess with their hair down.

Awe... too cute. They are tall aren't they. Course, my dd is just now catching up to others... she has been pretty short up until now.

All caught up... I have been swallowed up by all the projects I have to do in our house.
Your Pretrip picked up but I may still write/type about dining plan, later. Your nephew is adorable. I am sorry about the girls loss. I love your pictures of the girls when they were little. We love Rainforest and go almost every trip.
Sorry about spelling and grammer as I am typing this in the dark and it being so late I am barely fuctioning.

:flower3: to you, Mom. I know that had to be a rough time for you to watch your baby go through that. It's so nice that you had the family support and :woohoo: for getting to go to Disneyland!

You are so blessed to have your beautiful, healthy girls. :)
