PTR-Cheating on Mickey w/Harry!...OMG! Only a month to go!

She's cranky! :rotfl2: We're waiting for the nurse to come and set up the IV. He's already half an hour late, we got up and out of bed early for us!

Sorry he is late, but glad she is cranky, that is an improvement....:rotfl:

I hope things went well today with Fran. And I hope she is feeling more relief. Be sure to take care of yourself too...you definitely need to keep up your strength right now. Still thinking of the two of you, and praying that she is back to herself really soon!

Thanks Bonnie!

So here is what I am going to have to do twice a day for the next six and a half days. Tonight I do it at 10PM and tomorrow I can switch to 9AM and 9PM. Two of the little tubes are "Normal Saline" and the Yellow tube is Heparin. I have to set up the bag of antibiotic and put the drip tube into it. Then I sterilize the little Injection port in her hand. I put the saline through it, then hook up the IV to her hand and let it go for about an hour. When it is done, I turn it off remove the tube and sterilize it again. Then I put the other tube of Normal Saline in and the tube of Heparin. Then I close up her Injection Port. I don't think I'm going to be enjoying as many glasses of wine this week! :lmao:

You're amazing for doing all of this! Fran is so very lucky to have you.

OK, so you can't have too much wine this week, so you will just have to make up for it the following week! ;):rotfl2:

You took the words right out of my mouth or should I say fingers? I also was thinking Alison could have the wine after nine.:rotfl:

All kidding aside here's another vote to make sure you take care of yourself too.

I couldn't agree more!

And I'm sure that Fran wants you to make sure you are taking care of yourself too!

Oh, and...wine after nine...I'm likin' it! :rotfl:

Well there is still something that I have to do an hour after the IV is started. At the end I have to do a saline and heparin flush. So an hour after nine, but tonight, I can't do it until 10PM because we started this mornings one at 11:30AM, so I have to move them back gradually.

I couldn't agree more!

And I'm sure that Fran wants you to make sure you are taking care of yourself too!

I did lay down in my chair today for a couple hours, didn't sleep, we just put on a movie, but I had the computer closed up. However, all this stuff is really tiring. I'm going to need to try and nap every day if I have to be up by 9AM!

Thanks Bonnie!

Is 'George' Double Jointed?

Just get yourself some empty saline bags, fill it up with wine and hook yourself up to your personal 'Ethanol' IV as well. :thumbsup2

Alison, please take care of Fran and yourself...:goodvibes

I am and we are. That's why I got the take out Chinese. We have yummy food now for a few days and I'll actually eat!

It took me a while to figure out what you were saying. I have less than an hour until I hook her up. I better not have any more wine until she is happily dripping. :rotfl2:

I retyped my hand written instructions for extra retention value (and that they are easier to read) :thumbsup2

I have her medication coming to room temperature, I think I'm going to get the supplies ready so I can start prepping everything at quarter to 10 and then at 10, drip drip drip.....

I'll feed the cats while she's dripping and we'll be all ready to go to bed once the drip is over. That way when I try to get us up and in her chair for the 9AM drip I'm not having as much difficulty getting up as I did this morning. When you're in the hospital a different nurse does the evening drip than does the morning drip.

Sounds like a good system.....now you just need to add your ethanol roster into the system. :rotfl:

So I completed the second treatment on my own and only had to call the nurse for a question once! I was afraid because for the second treatment we used the morning "tube" and there was still medication from the morning left in the tube. The medication is supposed to be refrigerated so I was concerned that it had been in the tube all day, but he said it was OK, so I did tonights treatment OK. I just put her to bed and now I'm having a glass of wine! :faint: I did have one once I started the treatment, but not in a relaxing manner. It's 12:30 and I need to go back to bed but I wanted to post a couple things before I go to bed.

Tomorrow we have to be up by 8AM so I can get the IV going by 9AM. I've got Mac with me right now, and he's being so lovable and cute! All day today he slept on either Fran or I while we watched TV. He's fitting in quite well!

sleep well Alison.

Take good care of Fran tomorrow...and yourself. Glad that Mac is working out great and is providing some lovin' for you both.

OK, I"m going to bed. Unfortunately Mac will be on his own because we are sleeping with Olga. Fran is closer to the bathroom in that apartment.

Wow! So they say things happen for a reason. I know a $99 Lunch isn't a reason to cancel a trip, but I was supposed to meet up with this gal and several other DISers at this F&W event. She mentioned on her TR that this was the worst menu of all the events that she went to and I think I might agree.

French Regional Lunch

After our breakfast we headed back to the room for a little while & began packing from our weeklong vacation & goofing off online.

I headed towards EPCOT around 11am & went through the France shops until I saw some of the people I knew from the disboards hanging out around the the pavilion and went and talked with them.

Sadly, I was not sat with them & they were unable to place me at that table. Instead, I got placed with a group of 3 friends that were travelling together & had done so for years so it was a bit awkward there.

After everyone was seated & the first glass of wine poured, the speaker for the winery began talking. They served the amuse bouche during this time.

Amuse Bouche

It was an asparagus mousse.
It was refreshing and light as an amuse bouche should be & paired with the wine well.

OK this probably would have fine.

The first course
YLCm6.jpg

Yup thats pig feet in there along with some veal wrapped and fried.
I do believe some people around the restaurant loved it. I personally hate pig's feet but I also live in middle georgia where some people try to put pig's feet in recipes they don't belong so I have a bias against them. Its one of the foods of my top 10 food hate list. The vegetables were tasty though.

Now I have never had pigs feet, but I would certainly try it, I mean it's pig right? But of all the menu items on the list, this is probably the one I would have liked the best!

The second course

Sauerkraut w/ Salmon, Monkfish & Smoked Haddock
Sauerkraut is also on my top 10 food hate list. (Other foods on this list include chicken feet, creamed corn, sardines, regular mayo, chicken livers, anchovies, pickles, headcheese)
The salmon was good - especially with the sauce that was used around the dish. I didn't enjoy the smoked haddock. The monkfish was ok.
I did really like the wine.

I don't eat salmon, I do like Sauerkraut and probably would have liked Monkfish and maybe even the Haddock, but overall this doesn't sound like a really stellar dish.

The cheese course

Comte
A strong nice cheese. I really liked it with the grapes as it balanced out its strong flavor.

Perhaps this could have also been my favorite course.

The dessert.

Blueberry Flan
I liked the flan as it was nicely prepared. The sugar on top was really sticky in the teeth. The ice cream reminded me of the Flintstone Push Up Pops I had growing up so it was great!
The final wine wasn't sweet either which was great.

Overall, I think this individual lunch was a bust for me. I'm not really a picky eater but this just hit the jackpot on foods I hate. I realize that is also a risk you take when booking these type of events. I will book this event again as for the price point - you do get a really nice experience. Hopefully next year, I will get a better menu for my personal tastes.

I did enjoy a lot of the wine so I grabbed a taxi back to the room where I took a nap as rainy weather always makes me sleepy until it was time for us to get ready for the dessert party.

I'm not a big fan of Flan, so this would have been a bust for me as well. As she says, it's a risk you take at these kinds of events, but maybe I'll reconsider booking it for next year, especially since we're there the same weekend as the Dolphin Wine Festival.

I'm starting the formative stages of planning for F&W 2012, so we can figure out dates and resorts.

Fran's infusion went well tonight, I had some issues, but DOH! I forgot to post it here! This morning I couldn't get the thing to drip so I had to call the nurse. Luckily he lives about 20 minutes away, and was able to get here within the hour of my call. He got her drip going and showed me some possible trouble shoots. Those helped tonight because again we had the problem where it wouldn't drip, but I got it to drip and actually it dripped faster than it was supposed to, but I hope that's OK. They must include a margin of error when novices like me are handling it!

OK now I'm going to enjoy some wine, but we have to get to bed since the guy is supposed to be here at 8AM to take her blood for a test. :faint:

Hang in there, you're doing great! See you even made it to the wine after nine.
