PTN ending in September

9/5 is probably going to be even more crowded if this is the last PTN for a while! It's a holiday and locals will probably come out of the woodwork :(

I don't think that the lack of mentioning PTN during the announcement of the Halloween Season means the night parade is definitely canceled. It won't be running during Halloween Party nights, so it doesn't need to be mentioned. I could see it continuing, at least on weekends again after the Holiday season. The parade was a considerable expense and draws large crowds and creates additional income in food and drink purchases by those sitting around waiting for the show. Maybe it will take a hiatus, get spruced up a bit, and return in the spring...

I think running it on weekends would be the right thing to do, at the very least as long as Fantasmic is dark. But I'm not optimistic. If they weren't going to mention things that only run on non party nights, I don't think they would have mentioned the fireworks.

And taking a hiatus and returning in the spring does not make me feel one bit better. We go once a year at most and I want some night entertainment in the parks.

They mentioned Soundsational in the MHP press release which leads me to believe they won't offer PTN this fall at all. Why mention Soundsational and NOT PTN, the amazing new parade that everyone flocks to the parks to see? If they don't run PTN, hopefully that means that the garland will be up over Main St. again and that they will run two Christmas parades like previous years. Plus, they aren't doing away with fireworks completely so perhaps they will offer the Holiday fireworks again, basically bringing the holidays back to their normal routines.

I have a feeling PTN will come back after the holidays or next summer, then they can tout it as "back by popular demand..."

I was thinking the same, will just have to make sure I stake out a spot early enough and hopefully don't fall asleep after the 11 hour flight haha

I think you're right. And I think it's nothing but a way to save even more money for a while. So I wouldn't be surprised if they decide they can't put the garland back up over Main Street either.

Sorry, just feeling kind of negative right now.

I am not happy about this. We go end of September from the East Coast and won't be back for another 3-4 years most likely. I am hoping it wasn't mentioned because they are still working on what the plan is (weekends, every night and so on).

I could see them moving this to DCA. Why not try to spread the crowds out and get some folks over to DCA at night? DL is always busy in the evening.

I think seating/standing wise it would be a nightmare in DCA! There are some benches along the parade route but not a ton and there is no curb for people to sit on while others stand behind them. Imagine the pushing and shoving and fighting for a place to sit or stand to watch!!! It's bad enough in DL where there is room for people to sit and stand!

Plus they have WOC at night. I can't see both of those being in DCA.

I bet that a lot depends on attendance. If attendance starts to slip they will want to make sure PTN is on the lineup because it's still a huge draw.

I could have sworn they ran PtN last christmas, doing the christmas parade late afternoon, then PtN in the evening, so I doubt decorations would be an issue for the floats. I'd not panic until there's some sort of official word.

That is what they did last year. And it's why they didn't put the garlands up over Main Street like in years past.

I love love love the garlands. But I'd rather have Paint the Night.

Since the Halloween time announcement made a point to mention Mickeys Soundsational parade but not PTN it has me really thinking that PTN will be ending on September 5th with the diamond celebration. There had been a lot of talk about Disneyland Forever closing after the 60th, but not much about paint the night ending so I as surprised and bummed to be thinking this may be the end.

Also dining reservation can be made through September 11th now, except for paint the night packages which only can be booked through the 5th. I think it seems pretty likely PTN is ending after such a short time for such a great parade.

On my March trip we did a dining package for WOC and I had assumed I'd do a PTN package this time around. Now I'm sad to realize I missed my chance.

Anyone else super bummed over this.
At mouse planet it is stated "Disney has not yet disclosed the nighttime entertainment schedule for the fall. We expect that the Paint the Night Parade and Disneyland Forever fireworks show will be performed even after the 60th anniversary celebration wraps up on September 5, but that has yet to be confirmed. There is also no word whether the World of Color – Celebrate show will continue at Disney California Adventure, or if the show will revert to the pre-anniversary version."

So I wouldn't declare PTN over until September entertainment is announced. Also, what would they replace PTN with on non Halloween Party nights. The Soundsational parade is a daytime parade-and since the party hasn't officially started when it runs but partiers can enter early and still see the sound parade is most likely way it was included in the Halloween party announcements. My guess is PTN will be around for awhile longer as even during Christmas last year they ran the Christmas parade in the early evening and PTN at night.

OK THEN. I'll keep my fingers crossed then!!!

Don't give them any stupid ideas!!! It's bad enough that DL is too cheap to run fireworks and F! except on the weekends (and I don't want to hear the disproven theories of sound ordinances), but just shoving parades to the weekends as well turns this place into Knott's Berry Farm. They should keep it playing all week - this will be the draw during the week when the fireworks and F! aren't playing.

I can't imagine, though, DL giving up on the one item that's a national draw these days. People from all over are skipping WDW to come see it. That says something. Why on earth would they say, "mothball the fleet". I strongly suspect we'll see it again come January.

So, uh, would there be any nighttime entertainment? No PTN, no Fantasmic, no fireworks? Sounds like theres not much going on...
