PTN ending in September

Well...Disney just made my mind up for me. I was waffling in between dining package for PtN...or dessert party for WoC...looks like it will be the dessert party.

Just tried to book the Dessert Party, and it's booked every day of our trip (Sept 8-12). :(

I'm hoping this is just because they don't have the entertainment calendar loaded yet, but man, it seems like they're stopping EVERYTHING during this trip. And the last time they went, just about everything we wanted to see was down down for refurbishment or a holiday overlay. I guess there's no point in September trips if you want to avoid crowds any more.

reservations end on the fifth (when you open the calendar all dates after that day are gray and can't be selected while every date before then can be) so while its a possibility that they are withholding them while they sort our fall schedules its also possible that the PTN packages' along with PTN end.

I also find myself wondering if they are thinking of sending it to florida since its so popular at DLR and attendance at WDW has been diminishing. pure conjecture of course. I'm just trying to think of reasons it would end at DLR since its so popular and you don't just throw away your most popular parade when it hasn't even been around for very long.

I could see the doing Paint the Night at Hollywood Studios, given how much is shut down over there. They could use some entertainment.

So, uh, would there be any nighttime entertainment? No PTN, no Fantasmic, no fireworks? Sounds like theres not much going on...

The Halloween announcement from Disney mentioned Fantasy in the Sky returning on non party nights, so it looks like maybe the fireworks rumor was wrong?

Still, I can't imagine PTN being gone with Fantasmic dark. :( I suppose they would run the Christmas parade at night again during the holiday season, but I really wanted to see PTN one more time.

Yes..this, the entertainment schedule hasn't been officially announced. I see no problem of you getting this reservation for your vacation. There are still reservations to be had for this weekend...so it's not an event you have to reserve waaaaaaay out in advance like you would @ WDW. I suspect the entertainment schedule for your trip will be up within a couple of weeks.

So is there still going to be some sort parade at night?

Nobody knows for sure. But no night parade was mentioned in that Halloween announcement (that did specify other non Halloween entertainment).

I know there wasn't a night parade for a long time at DLR. But to have it go away when Fantasmic is dark would be really rotten IMO. (Not to mention when the DCA parade is also going away).

No night parade, Fantasmic! is dark, and rumor is the fireworks will be dark after the 5th also. So basically, no nighttime entertainment at DL at all.

Well, we have a largish group, so I'm more concerned about this one than maybe I need to be. A couple of my family members have bad backs, so having to wait for the show standing (or sitting on concrete) would be less than ideal. I'll keep an eye on the entertainment calendar ... hopefully my concerns are unfounded. :)

The recent Halloween announcement from Disney indicated that Fantasy in the Sky would return on non Halloween nights, so I take that as an indication there will be fireworks.

I'm still not happy though if PTN is dark at the same time Fantasmic is dark.

This is the quote from the DLR News Release:
On select, non-Mickey’s Halloween Party nights, guests visiting Disneyland will enjoy a special treat: the “Fantasy in the Sky” fireworks spectacular. In addition, the dynamic “Mickey’s Soundsational Parade” will march down Main Street, U.S.A., each day throughout Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort.

It sounds like they're going back to the weekend only fireworks schedule (Fri-Sun) during HalloweenTime, which would be consistent with how things were before the 60th. I'm guessing that if fireworks were going to be presented on all non-MHP nights it would have said something like "On non-Mickey’s Halloween Party nights" instead of adding in the "select" wording.

For PtN, I wonder if it's a mixture of a cost cutting move and refurbishment move. For the 17 nights where there are MHP, they wouldn't need to present PtN (because there will be a Halloween Cavalcade during the party) and then shortly after HalloweenTime ends, the Christmas parade would start. So maybe they felt that cutting PtN during this period would be a "good" cost-saving method because guests would still come to the parks to see HalloweenTime and the holidays even without Disneyland: Forever and PtN. They might have also felt that the parade has been running for 18-months and might be in need of some serious maintenance (I noticed that this parade did seem to be missing some elements - mostly characters - more often than any other parade I've seen). I'm still hopeful that it'll be back at some point!

We will never know if it's pure cost-cutting or maintenance issues if it does go dark after Labor Day. But it sure would have been nice if they could have held off until Fantasmic is back.

The Christmas parade is great but I still feel like the park needs one more form of entertainment that time of year.

I don't think the entertainment schedule has been released yet but It looks like these dates are available to be booked now. Is it normal for Disneyland to release park hours and entertainment schedule this late? I am used to WDW so this seems late to me.

DLR usually posts their operating schedule about 45-days in advance. There can be times when information is not added right at the 45-day mark, so it's best to check back more than once to see if anything has changed.

Yup, I know all that. And I tried to book the dates, and ever single one from the 8th to the 11th is "unavailable" when you try to book it.
