Psycho-ness over Dream Dooneys

All I can say is REALLY??? Why would anyone want to spend their time waiting in line on their cruise for a purse? I guess that means more rides for everyone else on the Aqua Duck.:woohoo:

Did they have the "regular" Disney cruise Dooneys or just this pattern? I personally like the other pattern better then this!

I am wondering the same thing, they are adorable and if they are still available I might consider getting one, but I am not waiting in line and the date on it ruins it for me, are there any regular disney cruise D&B purses????

I'd be one less person in that line.
For one thing, I won't stand in line for anything.....except for getting onboard.
And I really don't like D & B. Never have. They're too heavy, and in my opinion, cheap.
I personally would feel a little silly carrying a Disney purse everywhere I went.
So good luck to everyone who wants one, I won't be standing in your way.

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Standing in line aside ..... during a cruise; but why would you threaten someones job over a purse? It's a purse...... That stupid sense of entitlement rears its ugly head again!!!!

I had to check this thread out as I had nooooooo idea what it was about.

Not sure if its because I live in the UK or because I'm not very fashionable but I've never heard of a dooney.

The bag is nice though but not worth waiting in line for hours;)

Hello, I'm an American currently living in England. Dooney and Bourke are "designer" purses in the states, but I have not seen them for sale over here.

They are cute..how much are they? I will not be one in line either but DD may want one so we'll try to catch an off time. Thanks for the heads up on the handles. I must say though..my Kate Spade ;) from Nassau lasted a good 2 years b4 the handles/seams or anything started weathering...so I'll probably stick to those nice market ladies. haha!

Yea, I paid $160 for mine, used it for less than a month and had to put it up in my closet. It looks tacky now. I told myself years ago I would never buy anothey Dooney after one of mine (white w/ hearts) turned yellow, and look what happend to this one. Oh well, live and learn. ;) I'll stick with my Coach, those things hold up for years. :thumbsup2

I mean I do want one...I'm not going to lie. But no way will I wait in line for hours...that's crazy. I bet if you snuck over right when it opens on a sea day it would be less busy! The shops are always busiest around dinner because of the location and the shows....so anyone wanting one- don't go during that time!

Ah what happened to the good old days with the smiling and kind Dis'ers on the planet? remember? All Disney folk who were kind and generous, picked up their garbage, did push and shove and didn't DEMAND freebies.

boy life was good and such fine traits to pass on the the next generation.

some of us exist!!!

They are cute, like little girl purse cute.

To each his own. I happen to be a Disney Specialist TA and enjoy carrying my Disney D&B purse. It's a conversation starter for sure. ;) I didn't stand in line for hours to get it, it cost a LOT less than a Coach, and I like it. That doesn't make me crazy or a little girl.

So did they run out of stock on-board? My guess would be no, meaning waiting in line was a waste of time. If they did run out, Disney will just increase stock on-board to accomodate demand on future sailings. After all, they are in business to make as much profit as possible.

Folks tend to get crazy about special merchandise opportunities. The funny thing is, the powers that be at DCL seem to be surprised by it all over again every time it happens. :rolleyes1

At least there was no overnight sleeping on the floor waiting to be first to get the bags... ala lines for limited edition pins on some of the special DCL itineraries.

Like many who have commented here, I wouldn't have waited in line for those bags either, but I have waited in ugly long lines for other merchandise.

I do think we need to be careful of the "I wouldn't pay x amount or wait in line y hours for item xyz, so anyone who does is crazy" attitude.
Different strokes an all. ;)

The date on there ruins it for me. in 2012, "that purse is sooo last year!":rotfl2:I want purses I can change out for years, not be fashionally handicaped by a date.

:rotfl:

I generally tend to pass on dated merchandise too.

I do have several bags from the Dooney & Bourke Disneyland collection that have references to 55 years on them though, I guess technically they're already sooo last year, but only to people who know DL's 55th anniversary was in 2010. ;)

Me too. Someone posted a picture of merchandise in the shops on the Dream on another thread, and I saw the regular D&B cruise collection in the background. :thumbsup2

Yep, I've had very nice conversations with folks I probably wouldn't have ever spoken to had I not been carrying my DL D&B bag.

I read these boards and sometimes am in awe of the loyalty and passion many here have for Disney. I respect that and the fact that they want a particular item so badly. I say go for it!.
The part that bothers me is when the "want" of an item leads to discussions..even jokingly...that they may have to put it is their suitcase, as in the case of the red pillow in the Dream rooms, or the discussion board of the accounts of the behavior at the "Black Friday" Sale on board the Magic. I guess it bothers me more because the only thing I ever had stolen on a Disney cruise was my baseball cap with the 2 ship logo that was no longer available. Makes me say... Really???:confused3

Okay, So I like my name brand stuff just as much as the next girl, BUT personally, this purse is cute but not that cute! The date on there ruins it for me. in 2012, "that purse is sooo last year!":rotfl2:I want purses I can change out for years, not be fashionally handicaped by a date.
Now, I do go shopping Black Fridays, but if the line is long I REFUSE! ToysRus opened at 10pm Thanksgiving night. The line was 6 hours long before you could even get in the store!!!! We walked to see how long the line was, turned around and left. Went back to a small store at 4 am and we were the only ones there! Got what we wanted and left in 6 minutes! Not worth waiting in line to be the first of the first. After all like Previous Poster, "They will make more!" I just wont be buying one. Ill find my name brand purse in Cabo!!!! :rolleyes1

Wow Mindy, thanks for that insight. I was just thinking, dang I am gonna have to waste 3-4 hours and stand in line for this thing. But, you made a valid point that I didn't think of- the date. I really like the tan color of this one vs the white they had on my Thanksgiving cruise (which I think will also make that one a very seasonal purse because of the color). Gosh, I really wanted to get a DCL Dooney for my birthday present, but now I don't know what to do cause I am not interested in the wristlets that come in the different colors. Oh what to do now? Ugh!

I honestly don't get what the big deal with these purses is anyway. Like OP said, yes, they're cute but it's just a darn purse. I can't fathom why people go through what they do to get them. Last thing I'd be doing on my vacation is spending 4 hours waiting for one...you can find me spending that money and time at the spa!

That's good to know. I think some of them are cute, but personally, I like my Coach purse that doesn't have the name or symbol ANYWHERE but inside. And no way am I waiting in line for more than 15 minutes for one. I'm not a fashion plate. I just like quality and that purse (my Coach) wears like IRON! I've had it almost 10 years and it's had almost daily use. Not a worn spot nor popped seam n the whole thing. I'll skip this craze. ;)

Adding, I agree about the date. I don't want DATE on something I want to use for years. To each their own I guess.

I wanted one but now I'm rethinking it. 1- if they don't hold up and 2- I am NOT standing in line for hours! Not that crucial. :goodvibes
