Hi;
Heading down from august 8th to the 26th. Staying at Cypress Pointe and really looking forward to it.

I now understand as I read the many posts about PS's the importance of calling early for the most popular ones. But for an august visit how early do I need to call for most sit down meals?? I'm thinking in terms of Kona cafe or Boma's or Whispering Canyon for breakfast or Trails End for dinner. Even a Rose & Crown for Lunch.

Can I get away with phoning a few days in advance while I'm in Orlando?? I am looking forward to experiencing some of these restaurants but dislike the idea of being committed to dates and meal times so far in advance.

Also do I need a PS for Afternoon Tea at the Grand Floridian?

Thanks

ps. this board has been wonderful. It not only helped me find great accomodations (cypress pointe) but a great price (hotelkingdom.com). And has been a real help with a car rental. The tips I've picked up here are going to make this an incredible vacation experience. Thankyou everyone.

We will be there shorty after your visit - Aug.29/Sep.4 - and I plan to make no PS arrangements in advance. I have had great success making PS's from our room after we arrive. There will be many who disagree with this concept but it works well for us.

I'll answer that with a resounding Maybe-Maybe Not. You just never know. If there is one or two plces that you absolutely have to eat or your trip will be ruined - make the PS (which, by the way, will be reservations by then. Thank you Disney for adding yet another confusion).

On our Nov. trip, which was pretty crowded because it ws Jersey week and Veterans Day week, we made a couple PS but decided at the last minute we wanted to eat a few places. We were able to call from the park that day and got Sci-Fi for a party of 8; the night before and got CP breakfast for 8 and also the night before and got Kona Cafe dinner for 8. I don't know if that's normal or if we just got lucky.

if you are wanting to the more popular restaurants, and you have several on your wish list, i would recommend calling on the 90 day mark. having said that, if you want to be at the restaurant upon opening--whispering canyon cafe, boma, kona cafe, then you may not have a long wait if any. however, for afternoon tea, i would definitely make a PS as it is quite popular and i have seen guests turned away or having a long wait. yes, you could call several days in advance, but the times available may not be to your liking. good luck! :earboy2: :wave:
