i'm not a 100% sure - but i wouldn take the chance. british consoles and TV sets and video are in a different format and frequency to American TVs and stuff.
In britain we have the "PAL" system (it says this on the boxes for the wii games") but in america they have "NTSC" - 2 different formats
therefore, i dont think NTSC games (bought in AMerica) will work on PAL consoles (I presume you have a british console). however it may be different with a PSP (playstation portable) - i think the games for this console are region free.
however, there may be a solution even if not technically legal. i know you can have your gaming consoles "chipped". this allows you to play pirate / copied games - which people sell soooo cheaply. we had our PS1 (i know - very old - this was like 9 yrs ago) chipped and i remember being able to play a NTSC game on it.. (dont know why i remembered that - i might just be weird)

therefore, u may be able to have your console modified to allow to play games from other regions but i expect there is no guarantee that this wont damage your console.
so...i know i've left a huge message, and it's not a 100 % certain - sorry about that! but i hope it helps a little. maybe it's not worth risking. check out eBay for great deals on games! they're always in good condition and at least £10 cheaper or more!!!
