Pros and Cons of Disney Gift Cards?

Okay so I have the target red card and I wanted to purchase the Disney gift cards to save the 5%...I'm only getting $500 worth...but I want to use them at Magic Kingdom the day before the cruise. Are there certain situations where we couldn't use the gift cards? Places? Will they be a hassle to keep us with?...will receipts print out the card balance....so many questions! TIA!

Personally I don't think it's worth it to save $25, I'd be afraid I'd lose one.

I did this for our trip in April and didn't really have any issues. If I need to come up with a con I would say that I could only have them in $50 increments so I had to try and remember which ones I had used! They do print the balance on just about all of the receipts and I didn't run into any situations where I Couldn't use them. We didn't try to buy balloons or anything but I believe even those vendors carry around the waist computers that can scan the credit cards and gift cards now (maybe someone else knows this for sure ) It was very convenient for us and I loved knowing I didn't have a bunch of charges coming out of my account or a bill to settle at the end of the week! I will be doing this with our trip next year as well as using them to put credit on our stateroom account for our upcoming cruise! Hope that helps - if you have any other questions let me know!

You can use them most places, but every once in a while a place you think will take them won't. The Swan and Dolphin won't, and I don't think the Downtown Disney hotels will either, even though they are 'friends' of Disney.

Yes, the receipts should print out the balance on any card.

You'll need to keep track of which ones you use. If you buy merchandize and might return it, you'll need to keep that card as a refund would go onto it (although you might be able to get it on a new card)

There is disney gift card app that will keep track of the balance on each card.

Wouldn't it be easiest to charge everything to your KTTW card and pay at the end with the gift cards?
