Pros and cons in travelling to Disney in March vs November

Hi everyone! We were in Disney last November. It was our first trip and we loved it. The crowds weren't too large and the temperature was perfect for lots of walking. We're now planning another trip but we're thinking of going in March instead. Has anyone by chance been to disney in November and in March? Are the crowds much bigger? Is it much hotter in March than November?

Do all the schools in Canada and the U.S have the same week off for March break?

Any help you can offer will be appreciated. Thank you.

Crowd wise you will notice a huge difference-March will be packed!

Temperature wise it is hard to say, but I would think March might be a tad warmer.

I would reconsider it! Don't forget Easter is real early next year!

I know our school board has decided to put the two together and then Spring Break for some US States are going to be then also! If you don't like crowds, stick with November!

Have fun with whichever you chose!

Hi hockey mom and scratch. Thanks for the advice. With my daughter starting high school in September and with the school using the semester system, it may be hard for us to pull her out for a week like we did last November. If anything, we'll pull her out a few days before March break starts and head down to Disney on the Wednesday or Thursday before March Break. Maybe we'll miss the bulk of the crowds. Thanks again!

Hi,:sunny:
We were there 2 years agao during spring break. I pulled my
teens out a week before and stayed a couple of days after in
order to get a good vacation. The weather was warm enough for
us to go to the water parks and sun tan. We are going this year
as soon as school is out, I haven't been in the summer. We are
buying PP so that we can return next march over spring break.
The kids have to work hard in school and get good report cards.
With the intranet they can keep up on any homework from home.

We've been both of those times and I would go in November if it was me. Actually we are going in November. How many days does my clock say?

We had considered going next March Break as well, but with Easter the next weekend we decided against it. I like to be able to wonder through the parks without having to jostle for a walkway. November is so great. Both months can be the same weather wise.

If your daughter is only going to miss a week, I'd say go for it. If she works hard and gets ahead there shouldn't be a problem unless there are midterms. When I was in Grade 12 (many, many years ago) we went to Florida right during midterms. All of my teachers let me write the exams either before I went or after I came back. They understand that not all people can get their vacation when their kids aren't in school. We like to go when everyone else is in school because then we have the parks to ourselves. My DS is in Grade 3 and we always pull him out at least once in the school year to go on vacation.

Usually there are better deals on the hotels in November as well. Next year there will likely be no deals in March because of Easter being in March.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

Hi bcnancy and Susan. Thanks for the replies and your help. I'm really leaning on going again in November. I totally enjoyed the experience last November. The temperature was right and the crowds seemed just right. Not too many and not too few. My daughter is pretty good in school so I don't think she would have a problem if she missed one week.

Hi Frieda: I know your problem well. We like to go in December or January to avoid the crowds and have always pulled my son out of school. He is a good student and everything has been OK so far. Next December I traded our DVC points for Hawaii and booked it for November (I had to book/pay for airfares already) and am nervous about exams (midterms) whatever might come up then because he will be in grade 10. Does anyone have any tips about this? We went down to Florida on a whim for March break this year but did not go to Disney because I hate crowds. We just drove down and had a cheap vacation this time but it just about killed me not to do Disney!

We were there the first 10 days of Nov 2003 and found it to be much more crowded than usual for that time of year. I really had never seen or anticipated such crowds at an "off' time. In the past I had usually travelled during the March break, or at Christmas time. If you were okay with the crowds last November, you should be okay in March.
