Project Runway - Season 3 Official Thread (SPOILERS!!!)

I am sad that Allison is gone. She had talent but had problems with the material on this challenge.

Laura is a nasty women. I agree with her being a "one trick pony" and she will eventually get called on it down the line and then we'll see if she can step up to the plate.

I loved Jeffrey's dress, it was so cool, funky and "beautiful/ugly". I liked Michaels also but I think Jeffrey should've won even though he's a cocky jerk. ;)

I think the reason Michael and Nina couldn't go after Vincent anymore was because he had full confidence (real or fake) in his design. They wouldn't get him to back down.

I totally agree.

Glad Michael won instead of Jeffery, because I like Michael alot better, but do think Jeffery's design fit the challenge better, even if it was sort of ugly.

I can't believe they keep keeping Vincent. He is so weird, but I did like that he told Laura off. I liked Alison, and think she is more talented than Vincent, who is almost always in the bottom three.

I liked Kayne's outfit.. I liked the drama of it.. maybe I'm too much of a theater person ^__^ I personally liked his original design, bottle caps and all!

Larua.. is interesting.. I have to respect her as a woman - she has baby 6 on the way and remains as classy and sassy as the best of them.. and she does have her point of view picked out - you can't say she's all over the place

Jeffery needs a major attitude adjustment

I really wish Allison would have stayed over Vincent.. she is so passionate over everything - while Vincent is just a big ball of passion towards himself and his vision.. it's like Santino's "do it my way" attitude but in a bad way.

I'm glad they only had until midnight for the challenge though! I was getting so sick and tired of "you have 2 days to make everything!" What happened to the 1 day wedding dress challenge from season 1!?! I can't wait to see who this "Everyday Woman" is next week.

One last thing - I want Vera Wang back!! Michael Kors makes everything 100% more catty.. he's so prissy about his critique where as Vera Wang was so much more helpful and level headed!

When did they say Laura is pregnant? I totally missed that. Is she pregnant on the show or is she now that the show is finished taping?

I actually don't mind Laura much. I like that she can dish it and take it. When Kayne was insulting her about her character, she just laughed it off.

Not a Laura fan. I was in the beginning but she has grated my nerves. I agree with the poster that said she is a one trick pony. And dayum, if you are flatter than a pancake rolled over by a UPS truck in July, don't be wearing necklines that plunge wide open to your navel. Not a good look!

I'm in the minority because I like Vincent. Not as a designer but just as a character on the show. I think he keeps things from being boring. From what I have heard though from other sources, one of the main reasons Vincent is still around is that he is one of the best in garment construction, which is a big thing with the judges. They probably do a much more upclose viewing of the garments that we don't see, and supposedly his are weird, but constructed to perfection.

Angela - bleck. Can't stand her and her roses.

Kayne - like him but I'm worried that he is the Austin Scarlett of this season in that he is only good at making gowns.

Robert - liked him at first but he is in a serious slump

Jeffery - not crazy about his designs. I think they are more over the top than Vincent's. I do have to admit he did a good job last night.

Michael - Right now I think Michael is the best all around designer on the show. Good construction - not best but good - and can do a variety of looks (I'm talking to you Laura)

Uli - she's good and I like her, but I also think she's close to a one trick pony - maybe a one and a half trick pony. All of her dresses seem to have the same basic idea - full skirt, low back, some kind of belt type thing in the middle, low neckline. Pretty, but lets shake things up a bit

For next week's challenge about designing for every woman, I was thinking that maybe they were challenging for a female family member like their mom or wife?

I would LOVE to see anyone design for a real woman, not the human clothes' hangars models. Let's see them construct something that will look good on a c cup or higher, and with real hips...maybe even some love handles! :rotfl: It's easy to give the illusion of more bust, hip, etc but much more difficult to hide it, or design something that celebrates femaleness, without crossing the "tasteful" line.

That was my thought too based on the designer's reactions.

I'm not sure why Jeffrey keeps making comments about Laura's "one look". From what I've seen Jeffrey has one look as well. Everything he does looks punk. In the end, classic design will win over punk. I think top 3 will be Laura, Michael, and Uli. We'll see though.

I agree. I would like to see that too but after Heidi Klum's look of disgust when she said that Alison's model looked like a "plus model" I'm not sure we'll ever see that.

One thing I'm wondering about is will Vincent somehow make it to the top 3. He's had Gia (sp?) as a model for quite a while now and we know that the designer who is with Gia ends up at Olympus fashion week!

Yeah, how dare they make one of the models look like a size 2 instead of a double zero.

That's how I feel. She's in your face and not making backhanded comments like Jeffery did about Michael.

The judges comparing Vincent to the vision of Santino....no way. Nothing that Vincent has designed has been visionary (Twiggy dress, awful hat, hat on dog?). Pieces of his paper dress were falling off, while his model was struggling to walk normally down the runway.

Allision being voted off because she should know how to fit a woman is a lame reason when compared to Vincent's dress.

Something we should all remember from previous seasons - Even if the judges vote for a designer to go, based on design, the PRODUCERS have the final say. So, if they felt Vincent brought more "DRAMA" to the show, he stayed and Allison went. If the producers would just butt out and let the designers move on based upon "designer merit" and not "controversey merit", we would see a much more level playing field.

With what Vincent has been putting out and having been in the bottom 3 the last 3-4 challenges, he SHOULD have been gone. Bye-bye, see ya later.

I love Project Runway, and have been lurking here for a while so... hi!

Does anyone else think that the Every Woman is Oprah? That was my first instinct because I think she may have been voted that in some magazine because of her body type or something? Am I making that up?

Allison is on the Today show now and they're showing some clothes from her new collection.

I found an interview with Robert and Kayne, and it's mentioned on page 3:

I figure she was pregnant during the show because they knew about it.. the filming period isn't that long from what I understand.. so I just kind of assumed that..

That would be really cool. :smooth: I would love to see them design for Oprah. I hope you're right!

... I hate that they kept saying he Troumpe L'oeil-ed that belt. He painted it on. It wasn't like he made it look like a 3d fountain was sprouting out of her dress. It was a painted on belt! ...

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that what trompe l'oeil is? Not some 3-D pop-up thing, but a painting that looks realistically like something else? We had a trompe l'oeil exhibit here, and some of the paintings were uncannily realistic. It did look like belt to me until I saw it close-up -- of course I wasn't wearing my glasses. LOL

Laura is consistent, but she needs to shake it up if she wants to win. I'm rooting for Michael.
