Project Runway - Season 3 Official Thread (SPOILERS!!!)

Oh, am I glad to see that it's back. I haven't seen the first episode yet, wasn't feeling good so I recorded it, but I did see the casting show...Malan has to be the new Santino...I already can't stand him. Can you believe he, Malan, turned down the show for the 2nd season!? Why? That boy is going to be fun to watch. As soon as I started to read where someone got booted off I stopped reading. I'll post again tomorrow, or tonight after I see the show. Until then, auf wiedersehen.

Oh, I just noticed this thread, after I started another "official
thread! You can disregrad mine, sorry!

I loved the white dress with the red trim and silver...really loved that one, I'd wear it in a heartbeat! I also really liked the one made of coffee filters. I was surprised he wasn't in the top 3.

But I was in total agreement with the elimination. Though if the guy with the tatoos on his neck had gone, I wouldn't have minded, either.

I wonder what the big controversy they keep eluding to is.

The "Barbie Guy" made the white dress. He is my early pick!!

Who else thought Malan was just creepy :scared1:

I loved the grey coat by Laura. I hope the guy that won last night gets over confident, because I can't stand his attitude. I did like the Barbie designer, nice dress and seems like a nice guy. I thought the coffee filter one was the most innovative.

I love this show. I think Laura will be someone to watch! I loved when they asked if Malan's accent was fake! :lmao:

I hadn't slept much in 2 nights due to high stress and laying awake thinking about it. I didn't make it to 11:00, but I checked out the bravo website this morning. The elimination that occurred, IMHO, HAD to be made. I knew it without even seeing the final creations.

I already like Michael (the coffee filter guy). Even though Tim Gunn wasn't impressed in the casting episode, I liked that he took 3 of the challenges from last season and did them his way. He is very talented!
The guy from Oklahoma's video cracked me up ("No wire hangers!") :rotfl:
Malan is bizarre.
I didn't think Stacey was the worst last night although if she can't use a sewing machine, how long was she going to last anyway?
I can't believe Vincent wasn't sent home for the ridiculous bowl hat and the pockets on that dress ruined it. They looked like the were made of jeweled wicker! He's going to be fun to watch though.
Bonnie's very lucky. Her dress was nice but it didn't cover her ****s. It stuck out a mile from her chest.
Robert (the Barbie guy) seems to have the funniest comments so far and yes, Keith (the winner) is extremely arrogant. Although the blue bed sheet dress was really pretty I thought.
Sorry to ramble. Those are my thoughts.

Of course I'm rooting for Robert. :thumbsup2
I prefer to call him "Mr. Silkstone" though since he is the exclusive designer of the silkstone Barbie dolls. I OWN 15 of his 'designs'! :rotfl: He makes VERY elegent and sophisticated outfits, and hopefully his designs are going to translate well to real sized clothes and wow the judges.

I cannot stand Malan!!! He is so stinking arrogant! I want to beat him w/that "beauty pageant" designer's wire hanger!!!!!

I loved the coffee filter dress for the only reason that it was a unique, innovative use of materials!

However, my winner would've been the dress w/the red bows and metal trim. I could def. see myself wearing that. I also loved the cool fur collar jacket. Again, soemthing I would wear even though I'd have nowhere to wear it!

I am not thrilled w/neck tattoo man and wouldn't have minded if they kicked him off. He seems a bit on the arrogant side as well. "Oh, I've designed for all these bands". Whatever.

And, the chick who didn't know how to use the industrial sewing machine? How did she think she could get any further than she did???

Mind if I jump in? I had never watched this show before yesterday, but they were running the reruns all day and I had a fussy baby, and found it quite interesting. I caught the first Season 3 episode this morning (same fussy baby, unfortunately!).

Anyway, I wonder if part of the elimination decision had to do with her not knowing how to use the machine. I mean, come on--that's pretty basic, and hand sewing would only have hampered her when they're under such time constraints. Although I'm sure she could have practiced if they had an off day, but still!

Not sure who I like yet, but I did like the top three outfits this week--innovative and classy. It seems like these reality shows always have one :confused3 person, and basket-head guy is it. Think Danny on the Apprentice, Cynthia on Top Chef, Chicken George on Big Brother... Okay, maybe I spend way too much time with my fussy baby in front of the tube!

This is going to be a great season! I ahve nothing to add since I agree with what you all have said so far.

I love this show! I also liked the white dress with the red trim and the coffee filter dress as well. Also the jacket by that woman with the red hair with the 5 kids.....she seems really funky and cool. I will be watching every week! Oh, and Heidi is pregnant again! Maybe she is trying to catch up with that woman with the 5 kids! I loved when she said that women her age with 5 kids wear sweatpants and drive a minivan! lol

I don't think the judges even knew she didn't know how to use the sewing machine. Tim Gunn never saw her not using the machine, which leads me to believe the judges had no idea. They're not around when the designers are creating their clothing.

Also, she never brought up the fact that she didn't know how to use the machine during the critique of the outfit. The judges criticized her choice of fabric (too sheer), said that it looked like she didn't finish it and that it could've used some more layers so it wasn't as sheer. Had she known how to use the machines, she would've had time to add more layers. Her big panties under the outfit and the design of the whole thing were factors, too.

DW Lauri got a copy of season 1 on DVD when Suncoast was going out of business (90% off! :thumbsup2 ) so we got hooked on it and had to buy season 2 when it just came out recently.

Anyway, that Malan guy just strikes me as phony. He reminds me of the character Kevin Bacon played in Beauty Shop. He's probably really Marvin from Iowa.

DW & I both loved the grey coat by Laura! :cheer2: We were rooting for her to win the challenge.

Thumbs up to the coffee filter dress, too. :thumbsup2

I do not like Malan either.

I hope that they deal with the disqualification that they have been hinting at soon. It sounds like someone tried a dirty trick and got caught

AGH! I hate so early in the season when I dont know everyone's name. It drives me crazy. Im gonna try to watch the show a few times this weekend so I can get it all straight.

I did like the coat with the chandileir thingys on it the best.

The interesting part of this show is that the producers have a lot of say in which designer is eliminated. If you watch the credits at the end, it says that they use the judges scores and the producers input in making the final decision.

I guess that's why Jay said to be nice to the production people! ;)

:rotfl2: OMG -- I would absolutely love it if someone dug up some dirt on him and found out that he *is* Marvin from Iowa and a total "I was born in Taiwan" phony!!!! I would prob. die from being so hysterical!!!!

V. interesting -- I had no idea that the production people would have any input! I never watched the credits, so that comes as a surprise! Thanks for the info.!

That's really funny! :happytv: Marvin from Iowa! I bet you are right.

My favorite designer is the chic mom who won't wear sloppy sweats. I think she said something like "after 5 kids its easy to fall onto the the slippery slope to sloppy sweats".... She is very elegant. Even if she doesn't win or finish in the top 3 I think she has untapped talent that will be recognized by the fashion world and she'll work somewhere. Kind of like Austin, who is now in a job I think suits him perfectly -- designing wedding dresses.

This was a great season opener.

I really liked Kayne, Laura, Robert, and Keith's designs. I also liked Malan's design concept, but felt it could have been executed better.

I didn't really like Stacey, Bradley, Katherin, Angela or Michael's (coffee filter) designs. I vaguly remember building outfits from paper bags and coffee filters in elementary school.

So far, I really like these designers: Laura, Kayne, and Robert.

I love Laura's aesthetic. Beautiful, classy, timeless. Kayne is great. I really like Robert as well. He seems like he is very talented and he is funny. I hope they keep him around for commentary.

I'm neutral about these designers: Alison, Jeffrey, Michael, Uli, Malan, and Bradley.

Alison is very young, hip, and modern and I think she'll do well. I also liked Jeffrey (the neck tattoo guy.) He has an edgier, hipster look, which I think has been lacking in the previous two seasons. I'd like to see Alison and Jeffery work together this season. Michael has a good eye and while I didn't like the coffee filter dress, I think he will do well. Uli's dress was okay. Malan seems to have some talent, even if he is a big phony. I think he needs to work a bit harder and stop relying on his "exotic" background to get him through. I think Bradley has potential and I hope we see it soon.

I don't like these designers: Vincent, Angela, and Katherin.

I predict Vincent will be around for awhile. His dress was actually not that bad (minus the hat.) More importantly, however, Vincent brings the crazy and the crazy is important in reality TV. I can't stand Angela. She seems really arrogant and pretentious. Her design was one of the worst. Katherin is just too young and inexperienced.

And, of course, Stacey was out.

I'll miss the next episode because I'll be at WDW!
