Project 365 ~~ JAN 09

Ya know, I really hope taking the pic-a-day becomes a habit, and I start really looking for it! Today it was me and my 2 DSs working to take down the tree, and organize, reduce, and repack. Do you think I remembered the photo? Nope, not till I came back on here and then I was "D'oh!!!"

I didn't even try to get the kit. I did buy, at 50% off at HL, a 12X12 3 ring binder, page protectors (20 pgs) and 4X6 photo pages (10). This all came to $16. i know I'll need more page protectors but they'll go on sale again before the end of the year lol.

Thanks PN96 & Nicurn (and anyone else I missed) for the great templates.

That website was so crazy, and I had to add to the cart to get back to it. It deleted the thing I added, so I was surprised to see that I have 2 coming in the email. I guess I'll wait to see what arrives to the house. Nothing has been charged to my card yet either... but I did get 2 confirm emails.

I do love the idea of the project, but I really don't think they planned it well at all. Pre-orders for loyal customers, and opening it up on a non-holiday day would have been so much better. The site just couldn't handle all those people. I feel really bad for those who wanted to order, and had so much trouble. The comments on Becky's site were harsh!

I have all four next weeks of January ready. Background paper picked and matching cardstock cut for mats. I will probably ink these while watching TV or something.

On to getting February ready.

Hey Nan, are you doing something in between the months?

I think I'm going to put a monthly calendar page in them (I'll show you tomorrow)... it'll have the month/ dates/ and a 4x6 photo of my family so I can see how we change over the year

On page 4, PrincessNancy96 posted some layouts using 2x6 [title] 4x6, 4x4. 2x4 & 2x2, mixing them up. I ended up cutting the mats at 4-1/4x6-1/4, they will still fit, just not as pretty spacing. I will configure them as I figure what the pictures will be. As long as I have enough cardstock cut, I should be fine each week. I didn't want to limit myself right away to specific layouts.

Oh, and just incase you were wondering, no, there isn't a 4x6 for every day. Some will get the 4x4 instead.

EXACTLY!! Thanks for explianing!!!! I'm doing the same thing you are.. I have my background paper for the first 2 months bought... then when the St. Patty style comes out.. I'll buy that and the Easter/springy...

I have my March done too. I'll upload the picture tomorrow. All the pages are put in the album with their mats.
I'm not buying anything new for this other than the page protectors. I have to use my stash.

I only did background papers because they were ON SALE!!!! other than that..nothing needs bought....

our j's didn't have squat for march/april.. :(

hmmm, like the calendar page idea.. I think I'll put 2 pages in the middle of the book with calendars (those mini ones) on each side and write down all the stuff for the year... that could be entertaining in 10 yrs. :) maggie

IloveMickeymost - there is no item number that I can find. Go to the link and under Page Protectors choose the We R Memory Keepers icon that is on the bottom on the left. When that page comes up the ones I bought are in the 2nd row in the middle - 6 Up 4x6 photo sleeves for 12x12 pages.

I figure with 12 slots for a week I can fill the extra 5 with journaling - I am sure that some days won't require an entire 4x6 slot. Like the day when I have a photo of a med. sized dunkin' donuts iced coffee! :) Even today (Day One for me) is a picture of dh & the two kids and I wrote 4 lines for it.

Yes, in 10 years we'll look back and ask ourselves how on earth we were able to balance all that!!!:rotfl:

I'm so impressed that you're so organized with this. Wow!

Nicurn - love your page. I'd really like to try digital but I feel obligated to use up some of the stuff I've accumulated. I know this isn't the ban board but i did put paper back on the shelf today while I was at HL.

So...how do I stay motivated when I don't know if I have the kit, when I will find out, and when it will arrive? Blah

Nan, I don't have to wait 10 yrs to ask myself how you do it all. Every day I ask on your list.

LOL~ Me too!!!
I told DH on the way to the museum today.. I need STRUCTURE back in my life... I love the holidays..but I love when the kids are at school and I can get stuff done w/o tripping over them.. or finishing the job ~ turning around and my work being undone!!!:thumbsup2

I've cut all of my photo mats and journaling mats for the month of January! I'm not totally sure how each layout will work out, but I'm trying to come up with a few sketches to rotate through. I brought a few boxes of patterned paper here to my Mom's.... paper I wanted to sort through and use up and purge. I found a nice coordinated bunch of purple paper in that stash and I decided that purple is okay for January. I'm using white as background (mostly because I have so much of it). I'm thinking that I'll go with reds and pinks for February... I'm sure that I'll find enough at home in my other patterned paper stashes!

So I feel like I am really on a roll. I have a selection to choose from for today's photo.... I might use the photo I took as I tucked my DD in on the sofa (here at my Mom's) shortly after midnight. Or maybe the one of my Mom and the grandsons "bonding" over a game of dominoes.

How is everyone else doing? Did the kit sell out?....................P

I had one of those things happen today that just has to be the pic of the day!

I went to the grocery store this afternoon to pick up a few things. Near the entrance was a shopping cart full of candy with a sign on it the said $20 for everything but the cart, lol. I went past, in through produce and then thought I'd either better call my husband or never mention what I'd seen. I go back & call him on my cell.... "What are you waiting for? You're buying that." :lmao:

You can't see them in the pic but there were 60 Reese's peanut butter x-mas trees.... those alone were worth the $20. Among other things there were 9 bags of the fun size Milky Ways and they don't even have holiday packaging? :confused3
We picked out a bunch to keep, some will go to my girls scouts and then I'm taking the rest to the women's shelter - 88 boxes of mini gingerbread cookies will be a few days of snacks for the kids there.:)

Susan, I'm sure you have one. Becky has a message on her site saying,

"$0 total
I appreciate your continued patience.

As of this very moment, we are not sold out. Keep trying. It's working better now, just a little slow for some.

For those of you who have placed your order and your total says $0, that's because your credit card will not be charged until the product has shipped to you."

I just read Becky's blog and I really feel bad with how harsh some of the comments are... As a retail nut I can easily see how they prob couldve handled it better but when demand outweighs supply AND the supply chain- No amount of organization can prevent the collapse...

I guess I don't totally see how one *needs* the kit to do the project and by not having the kit ruins the project- I still say that come mid year there will be a HUGE amount of this on ebay because statistically how many people will even make it to Feb?

Well day 1 is posted :)
I decided to start a new blog to keep me accountable and motivated but I also found its a great way to journal (as when Im ready to scrap all I have to do is cut and paste)

and I'm even bribing myself.. If I can do this all year I will get my DSLR :) I will have monthly awards too (simple minds simple pleasures)
