Problems with ME... (long)

We just got back this Sunday and I didn't have any direct problems with ME, but someone else that was staying at our hotel lost their luggage for a little. On our arrival night about 10:30 we got a knock at our door and Dh answered it was someone saying that were delivering one of our bags from ME. DH told them we had already received our bags, but it had our name and everything on it and the CM insisted it was ours. DH took it reluctantly, it was late and I think he was still half asleep. He laid down and just thought he should do something about it. So he took it to the front desk and told them the problem, they said they would take care of it and he came back to the room. We got another knock at the door and now someone was trying to repair our door?!?! We sent them away and about 5 minutes later the phone rings, they try and tell us our bag is at the front counter, DH explains we just returned that bag it's not ours. So again DH goes to the front counter to sort things out. He said they had our room number, flight number and his entire name on the bag that was not ours... While he was gone someone else called our room asking if we were missing a bag, I was pretty upset at this point, it was our first night and 11:30... I had two young children that I didn't want to wake up and we were going to be getting up early the next morning for early entry. The CM apologized and said no one else would be calling us. My DH came back and I guess sorted things out because we were never contacted again. So if you were at POFQ on December 2nd and your bag was missing for a while they were trying to give it to us...

This just worries me because if they would have delivered our bags to someone else, would that person have done the same thing and returned it. I wonder if this happens a lot??? anyone else have a similar experience?

Were there other (non-ME) tags on the item? Did you (or could you) open the item and look inside for a name tag?

Did you remove any tags with your name before surrendering the bag?

Next time call the front desk and have them send someone up instead of your going down.

Next time, next morning ask for some extra fast passes (or some Disney Dollars if you are daring) (1) to make heads perk up to prevent recurrences of this problem and (2) in exchange for the lost sleep and inconvenience.

I don't believe DH removed the tags from the bag. Having DH go down to the front desk probably worked out better since I didn't want to have the kids woken up again by another knock at the door and conversation over the bag. Honestly it was late and after a long flight with the kids we just weren't thinking... I'm guessing that someone at the front desk must have evently looked through the bag to see who it actually belonged to. My biggest concern was and is what if this happen to my bag and it fell into the hands of someone not so honest. Would they have gone through my bag and taken things out or worse yet kept it?

And we were actually compensated for the matter. They put a $75 credit on my room card, which was very nice and I was very thankful for that. But if I were the person who actually lost my luggage (if they even knew it was lost) I would have been very upset to find out they delivered it to the wrong person.

If it had your DME tag on it then where did that come from .
Were any of your missing from your bag or did that person get yours by mistake and put it on not looking at it.

This might have also been some one that checked-in after you at the ME deck at MCO that didn't have any tags at all and DME might have printed your tag in stead of updating and thats how the tag got on there.

I know this was a pain for you but they were going by the info on the tag and thats what they are suppose to do.I would have pulled the tag off upon returning it in front of CM that I returned it to.

We had a CM call us on the day we arrived at the BC to say they had delivered someone elses bag to our room. We had two connecting rooms and 10 bags between us. He claimed they delivered 11 bags. I guess there was another guest at the hotel with my name (which is not a common name). We had already unpacked our bags so I knew we didn't have an extra bag. He asked if he could come up to our room and look for himself. He looked around each room and I showed him the DME tags on each of the 10 empty bags with our names on them. He just stood there and said their records showed we had this bag. I asked him if he wanted to look around again just to be sure, but he said no and left. I hope that person eventually recovered their bag.

We, on the other hand, thought DME was great. Walked right onto the bus, minimal wait before we left the airport, very funny and informative driver. Returned back to the airport timely with all luggage accounted for. :flower:
