I am arriving at MCO around 10 AM saturday morning. I know there is a nasty forecast with a chance of everything from rain, snow and sleet. Could this affect my flight? Has anyone seen that happen in the past? I know the Orlando airport is probably not as equipped to deal with snow/sleet since they never get it. Help/input would be much appreciated :goodvibes

I called the local airport here in Pa once over the threat of snow and was told that it would generally take 8 inches of snow to force a closure. Of course, as you mention, MCO ain't AVP and I wouldn't be surprised if MCO had no plow blades at all, maybe some de-icing compound for the planes and runway surface.

We'll be landing at 11:18 tomorrow morning and I was wondering the exact same thing. Well, here's to both of us landing on time tomorrow!! pixiedust:

Me too, we arrive at noon tomorrow....FINGERS CROSSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The forecast looks like it calls for rain and sleet, but mostly rain. The sleet would probably be much earlier than when you guys are scheduled. I would say you could expect maybe some minor delays, but nothing too significant. Of course that can always change and is also dependent on what kind of backups they experience earlier in the morning. Pilots can also slow down there routes to arrive a bit later and allow for any surface treatment that would to be done.

I have read reports that flights coming into Orlando and Tampa are fine, but flights leaving Orlando and Tampa have been delayed because they have NO DEICING equipment. So the planes have to stay in the sun for several hours to ensure all the ice is melted.

Hey neighbor (I am also in the northeastern burbs of St. Paul) - you are so lucky to be leaving this frozen land so soon! I have 4 weeks left! Hopefully things warm up for you in FL! Have a great trip!

I don't think you will have problems landing at MCO. As another person mentioned you may have problems leaving MCO. Be sure to carry your airlines phone number with you in the event of any problems. Be prepared.
