is anyone else not able to pre-print boarding passes?? i am leaving tomorrow :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: and went on the spirit website to print passes and it said they can't and that we had to check in at the airport. is this because of increased security or i am paranoid that they over booked the flight and double sold my seats or something?? can anyone share what they think and reassure me so i can get a good night's sleep tonight!!

thanks for any help!

Why don't you call Spirit and ask? I know with SWA sometimes they don't allow you to print your boarding pass because something in the ressie skews you for further security.
Soooo, again, call them and ask, no sense in extra angst for no reason.

i did call and a woman told me that it was not a computer glitch and they are requiring check-in at the airport. :confused3 but she didn't give a reason why. i'm sure everything is fine, but the synic in me is expecting it to go wrong  ! my son is disabled and i guess it is more reassuring to me to know that we have our seats and he will not be pushing the seat of some stranger in front of him (but instead pushing my seat!!!!) the entire flight.

sorry for venting my angst, but i feel better for getting it off my chest already  ! thanks for listening and i'm sure it will be fine!

I think SW is still allowing online check in. It's not mentioned on thier site that they aren't and NOTHING on the TSA site indicates that it's been discontinued. Why should it be? It doesn't really get you anyplace without and ID etc...

Nothing to be sorry about. If it had been me and I received the answer you received I would have requested a supervisor and an explaination. " I don't know" or no explainations do not work for me.
My gut, such that it is, says it is Spirits way of beefing up security.
Have a great trip, btw. :)

That happened to us the last time we flew Spirit and it was because my husband's name was on the "watch" list. He has a very common first and last name so that didn't surprise me but it is the first time that it has happened.

Check in went smoothly. They just needed to see his driver's license and confirm his birthdate (or something to that effect).

I wouldn't worry about it. Enjoy your trip!

It could also just be that their technology has broken...
These charter airlines tend not to spend as much on the fancy toys as the biggies.

And to be honest you could easily be talking to an outsourced calling company. (You know line 1 Sprint, Line 2 Holiday Inns etc.) They may not have a clue LOL!

I was not able to check in online for my US Air flight Friday or Sunday. At the airport I was able to use a kiosk to check-in without ever soeaking to a ticket agent on the first leg, I had the agent at the counter do the printing on the way home because the line for the kiosks was long and there was no one in line at the First Class/Preferred counter.

SPIRIT is NOT a charter airline.

I would bet that the OP will get a SSS on his/her boarding pass and that is why he/she can't check in online. My guess is that it is due to a random search.

I was able to check in online on Saturday for my SWA flight out of MDW.

I went to their website and to be honest they really don't tell you which "regulations" they fly under. They do say they started as Charter One a charter tour operator that begain doing scheduled service. They don't indicate a change in license type, but it could have occured?
