Hey guys my fiance (Lizz) and I (Will) have been together for about 7 years and we have been engaged for around 2.5. we decided on a DCL wedding because half of my family was going on this particular cruise anyway and we decided it couldn't be to hard to get her family to go if we told them we were getting hitched. So we started our planning a little bit later than most of you. We leave on May 6th for a 4 day cruise on The Dream.

We are having our ceremony on board because cast away was booked but I do not mind because I am not really into beach weddings. The DF on other hand put us on the waiting list just in case. LOL.

Lizz went shopping this weekend and managed to find a dress that she really loved. She initially thought the dress she wanted was at the first place she went to and ended up finding it at the last store she visited at half the cost of the original dress. She bought a set of blue satin heals to go with the dress. We are also planning on getting the grooms men to wear blue socks with the tuxedos that match her shoes. we saw some really awesome shots where a couple did this but with yellow and liked the the idea.

On the topic of photos, we chose to hire an outside photographer because we wanted a very specific style of photographs. You can find our photographers website here
We actually know 2 couples that have used these photographers for there weddings and engagement shots and the pics they got are exactly what is posted on the website. In fact some of the shots on the site are of our friends. While they are a fairly pricey we are planning on going around nassau to take pictures and they have experience on the island at The Cloisters, the Versailles Garden, and the beaches.

My biggest complaint about DCL is the group booking process. The fact that I have to call with the a guests information and create a reservation for them is very annoying. I really do wish that I could just give our guests the group number and that they could call Disney and make their own reservation. Also the fact that DCL group sales can not email confirmations is ridiculous.

Because we decided to this wedding on such short notice I set up a website to notify our friends and family. I used google for this grabbing a wedding template from gsites. It was very easy and only took a few hours. You can see our site here.

I will try to update this as we get closer to our departure date we currently have 18 people and rooms booked. We will most likely end up with around 25-30 total.

Ok it turns out that you can have more than 30 people at an onboard wedding but you never know where it will be held. We really want a nice view so we will be keeping the guest count under 30.

Also we wanted to bring our own cake cutting set that we received as a gift. It can be done but i had to send Shanda picture of the set.

Congrats and welcome! I'm interested to hear about a DCL wedding. You very well may be the only male doing a PJ and a DCL wedding - but I know of at least two other grooms on here who have a PJ!

Congrats on your upcoming wedding.. and welcome to the boards!! Can't wait to read all about your plans.

I got this from disney today regarding the registry.

Dear William,
We apologize for the inconvenience, as we are still working on re-launching Disney’s Honeymoon Registry. At this time, we are working quickly to improve the experience for our couples and are putting the final touches on the website. Currently, we do not have a specific date as to when the new site will be available, but please continue checking the website. Any new information will be posted to the website as soon as it becomes available. We thank you for your patience, and hope you will enjoy the new features of Disney’s Honeymoon Registry.

Kind Regards,
Disney's Honeymoon Registry

Thanks for posting your budget. I think it's really valuable in the planning process to see how much different weddings cost. Our budget is hovering at a value somewhat similar, although I suspect it will rise with the welcome bags and if we add a DP at Fantasmic. I'm trying to be aware of costs though, and my fiancé is always quick to bring me back to reality when financials are concerned ;)

Love your fiancée's flowers! Those are the ones that I'm also leaning toward :goodvibes They have such an elegant, but delicate feel to them. It's hard to commit to any choice though when it's only Dec and my planning guide isn't due till Aug.

Ok guys i called the ocean club. It took 7 calls to get my question answered because they work on island time and do not call people back but here it is.

It costs $900 for a two hour photo session at the cloisters. It can only be reserved within 60 daysbecause weddings are given precedent that are occuring at the ocean club. We have a our fingers crossed that we will be able to get the cloisters reserved for our photo shoot. I will be sure to keep you guys updated.

Hey,

Its lovely to see a groom on here! hehe Congratulations! Love your wedding website... you did a great job!

Your brides shoes are just like the ones SJP wore in Sex and The City! Good choice!

Cant wait to see some more photos of your planning bits and bobs!

The Cloisters at the Ocean Club will be AMAZING!!! It's such a drop dead gorgeous background; you'll have some fantastic photos from that!! :goodvibes Hope that you guys are able to book it!

Ok so 2 months out. All of the girls have been fitted for the bridesmaid dresses and they are being altered.

W went and picked out our wedding bands this weekend. I am having a band from my father and one from my grandfather melted down and turned into one that way I have a family heirloom. Conveniently enough it was only 200 dollars to have this done when buying a new ring would have cost between 800-1500. The wifey picked out her band it is white gold with a half karat of round cut diamonds prong set. She has a 3 1/4 sized finger so diamonds go almost all the way around lol.

The tuxes are all fitted and just need to be picked up.

Our photographer has been paid in full and so has there cruise.

We finished the Disney wedding planning guide tonight and that went well but it was a serious pain picking out all of the music. It took us a good 5-6 hurs.

The wedding dress is on order and should be in at the end of March.

It seems things are taken care of for the most part. I have to call the cloisters in another 10 days so that we can book that.

2 months is going to fly by.
