Probably silly but I'll ask anyway...

As a long time WDW visitor and a DVC owner (and a fairly new one I might add,) I will say that I totally see where the OP is coming from and can even somewhat agree with her thoughts. I didn't buy DVC for the space or the luxury at all. I bought in because it seemed like a great deal and a good way to lock in the next 50 years worth of what we already knew we wanted to do with our vacation time anyway. We also think having points is cool for booking a GV now and then for our extended family to join us since they've supplied with awesome vacations for my 32 years of life!!! I will say that my first trip home was great, but I'm a pizza and burger kind of girl and I miss that from the values. I miss the over the top theming now and then too (although I never stayed in them myself.) I loved POFQ the year before and the room size wasn't an issue. We enjoyed walking the grounds more there than anything. We're one of those families that goes by the whole "when in WDW, we're not in our room anyway," but our GV actually made our trip TOO laid back that we didn't do as much as I was used to doing. Reading this and going over some of the prices and deals has made me think time and time again, and the only thing keeping me connected to my DVC is really the ability to provide vacations to my family too. I know they could pay for their own trips, but I love being able to "repay" them for the years they've provided me with amazing trips. Don't get me wrong, I do love DVC rooms and everything that comes along with it, but I'm finding that I could "do" WDW just as easily without it and I'd still be going 50 years from now because I DO love the place that much. And to think for less than $100 a night I could be getting my bed made daily, :rotfl: at no extra cost.... and with no MF! OP, I've only heard a rumor once or twice of DVC villas at POP and if that ever happens, I can assure you, I'd be right there with you, and we could split a pizza and a pitcher of rootbeer!

:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes It's a date!!!:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

I had been thinking about it a lot since we got back. I wasn't sure I should post but I am so glad I did. It made up my mind for me. I know I will go to Disney for years to come, it makes me tear up everytime I think about the magical vacations we have had there and can't wait for more, but we will either way, so we're sticking with what we love.

PLUS, like DH pointed out. I love getting a deal, researching the free dining, the codes, it's part of my fun. But IF that value ever happens...:woohoo:

And both times that rumor started here on DIS as speculation, not even a rumor heard from a guide, bus driver or CM of any type if I recall.

:lmao: Exactly, so one can wish, those with Poly DVC Dreams will have better luck! But if they should ever make a value DVC, I'd go for it in a heartbeat too. :rotfl:

OP - If I had to pick the biggest convenience of having DVC, I really like just being able to call in and book with my points without having to pay for anything (vs paying per trip.) I also like knowing that I can (like I mentioned before) bring my parents and other family members along if I choose without asking them to pay for anything. I know I'll book nights at values for my son as an extra night here and there and even moderates (that pirate room looks so cool) because I want him to have the "over the top theming" experience too. Like I said, I never stayed in Values myself, but I know the feeling of them, and I like the moderates myself, but DVC was right for us for a few different reasons. I'm not a "high class" or luxury sort of gal. I prefer beer over wine, burgers instead of steak, and I was actually a little upset when I realized that SSR didn't have the typical Disney Burger that many people hate so bad on their menu - I love it! I'm glad this thread has helped you to decide what to do. DVC isn't for everyone, and WDW is more magical than the resorts themselves. You seem to know what you love about WDW already. Sometimes I think the entitlement DVC carries with the whole "owning a piece of the mouse" thing just makes people feel like they're missing out on something. You're really not though unless you LOVE king beds, space, booking at 11 months, MFs, No mousekeeping.... (Hey, I do  love:love: my own DVC membership, but I'm just sayin'!:goodvibes )

Carefull what you wish for, you might not like the final product or the way it interacts with the current DVC. I would guess if they did this it would be somewhat to completely separate from what we have now with limited crossover at best.

We initially stayed at Port Orleans back when the French Quarter was called PO. My wife and I loved the dixieland atmasphere and decor. When PO was being rennovated we tried POP. We saw one big advantage to POP over PO. The HVAC system at POP (it being the newer resort and having just opened a few months before our visit) is integrated into the room. I didn't realize the importance of that until we went back to the French Quarter after a few POP stays. The HVAC in the FQ rooms (window units) was very noisy - irritatingly so and prevented both of us from sleeping well.

We just stayed at AKL - savannah view and were so impressed that we became DVC members with AKV as our home!

Are any of the moderates young (new) enough to have integrated HVAC?
