We will be first time users of the dining plan in about three weeks (yahoo! ) and I have a question about using the credits-- if there are four of us eating at a sit-down restaurant (DH, 11-yr-old & 7 yr-old), do I have to order four meals? Or for example could I order 2 adult meals and one kid meal and share one of the adult meals with one of the kids? I know my youngest has to order off the kids menu, but I'm not sure about sharing.

Thanks! I'm a long time DIS reader but a recent joiner...appreciate the info!

No, you don't have to order 4 meals and yes sharing is allowed.

Have a wonderful trip :wizard:

Yes you can share at table service and save credits. You can use them at your leisure.

Only exception: at buffets a credit will be taken for each person eating.

With appetizer, entree, and dessert at table service meals we too did this with our two children as there was a lot of food for 4 people - especially when 1 of the kids ones might not be too hungry at that moment.

Ordering two adult meals and a child meal should be no problem. The only cases reported where folks had problems sharing were where patrons weren't ordering child meals and sharing adult meals with a registered child in their party.

We always shared when allowed(not at buffets and fixed price dinners, etc.). The CM's were usually really helpful and even brought us an extra plate. We have 2 "disney adult" children and 2 "under 9" children and it really was a waste to order 6 meals. We still had leftovers.

We left a little extra for each server who was really helpful. I think it is a win win for everyone.

Every guest has to pay (or use a credit) at buffets, restaurants that serve all you care to eat as well as dinner shows and even dinner packages such as the Fantasmic Dinner Package. That includes all the character meals.

The brochure says every guests will be charged two credits at signature restaurants. That possible policy isn't being enforced.

subscribing...was wondering the same thing. Here's our plan (all dinners):
Hoop Dee Do (2TS)
Liberty Tree Tavern - TA advised us to pay out of pocket
Le Cellier
H&V with Fantasmic - again TA advised to pay out of pocket
Wolf Gang Puck
Chef Mickeys
Norway Akershus - Princess
CRT (2TS)
We are in Disney for 8 nights, 9 days. :woohoo:
Any thoughts?? :confused3

I think your TA is steering you wrong. If you paid OOP for CRT it will cost you less money OOP. Using 2 TS credits on CRT "saves" you $105 (plus tax and tip). But to use those two TS credits on CRT you are paying $129 (plus tax and tip) OOP for H&V and LTT. If you pay for CRT OOP, then you can use those two TS credits to pick up H&V and LTT.

Hoop Dee Do (2TS) $50.22 $25.43
Liberty Tree Tavern $27.99 $12.99
Le Cellier (varies depending on what you order)
H&V with Fantasmic $23.99 11.99
Wolf Gang Puck (varies depending on what you order)
Chef Mickeys $27.99 12.99
Norway Akershus - Princess $28.99 13.99
CRT (2TS) $39.99 24.99

:thanks: I didn't know the prices! It seems more convenient as well to pay OOP only once instead of the two dinners! :sunny:

If I can ask a related question:

We are going to HDDR with 4 adults and 2 kids. At $50 each, I think 2 TS is worth it for the adults. But can I pay OOP for the kids there, and use credits for the adults? I could save 4 TS credits that way. (I wonder why HDDR isn't 1 TS for kids and 2 for adults.)

I am not interested in breaking any rules...I'm just asking what the rules are.

The rules are: "Meal entitlements can not be shared between Guests ages 10+ and Guests ages 3-9."

So I cannot pay OOP for the cheaper kid meals and use their credits for adults later in the trip, right? It makes sense. I have heard of people doing this though and saying it is allowed. Maybe that was in the beginning year of the DP. :confused3

A more likely reason, I believe, is because Disney typically relies on the integrity and sensibility of their guests for things like this. As you noted, "It makes sense." ::yes::

Yeah, when are they going to learn not to do that?! :teeth:

We'll be honest on our trip next month, but I'm sure many others won't be.
