I think in the fact that this is not an issue that a man is directly involved in, it will never involve his own body, so it shows a larger percentage of men saying that the law should control a woman's body.

The man is involved in it if he helped create 'it', is he not? I mean, he was involved, quite directly...

I would say that a man is directly involved in it, it would be impossible for him not to be.

Saying that men think the law should control women's bodies is like labeling someone who is prochoice as pro-abortion. Doesn't fit.

Right, but the embryo/fetus is not dependent on his body to survive. That is why it is the woman's choice.

I'm a woman, I believe abortion should remain legal, but I am strongly against abortion due to religious reasons. However, there are people that don't share my religious beliefs, and it would be unfair of me to impose my beliefs on someone else. How's that for a long drawn out explanation...

I think it is an excellent explanation! :thumbsup2

Should be legalize prostitution?

Yes, but in many cases the women don't have "choice" in prostitution they are forced into as teenage girls.

I wonder if there are statistics available on how many men support/oppose Roe Vs Wade. I'd be curious to know how close to the national average this poll is, if at all. I find it really disturbing how close the numbers are between support and oppose on this poll for the men. I would have expected more women were pro-life

I agree. I would think that there are more men and women on the national average that are pro choice. But then again, more women voted pro choice than I would have thought for this board.

As I said before, the way the DIS men voted is not surprising to me. I doubt this is anything what the national average would be for men.

Should be legalize prostitution?

Yes, between adults. What two consenting adults do with their bodies is between themselves.

The countries, such as the Netherlands, that have legalized prostitution have made it much safer. Prostitutes have medical benefits, so lessening the risk of disease. There is oversight in the industry, lessening the risks.

Should be legalize prostitution?

It could be. But the problem with prostitution is the spread of STD's and things like forced and underage prostitution and other criminal activities that often go hand in hand with it like as drugs.

That was a really bad sentence, huh? Too bad. I'm too lazy to change it.

Female, mom of 2 and adamantly pro choice.

I believe i used the word EVER. Should be self explanatory.

But, I'll explain. Yes I've known rape victims. No I don't believe abortion should be legal for them. Neither did they.

mom's life in danger: I think the baby should be delivered by c-section. Ever seen Birthday on the Health Channel? They can go pretty fast when they need to. Some of them have taken 5 minutes or less. You can't tell an abortion can be performed quicker. If the baby's delivered at least its been given a chance. I'm not so heartless as to let the mother die. That would just be insane.

Your opinion is your opinion. But your arguments don't wash with me and never will.

Definitely pro-choice. I have seen far too many kids who would have been better of had they not been bron into the awful cicumstances they live in.

How can you claim to be "pro-life" if you don't believe that a woman who may die if she delivers the baby or carries it to full term should not be given the opportunity to live?

Hypothetically speaking . .
What if the mother gets cancer? A pregnant woman can not go through treatments and have tha baby. What if the 9 months is too long of a wait, and it would be too late for her to fight and survive the cancer? She chould carry to term, and allow the cancer to progress? Thats pro-life?

And a young girl should have to carry a baby for 9 months after rape or incest? It just doesn't seem fair to her, why punish her further?

Right, but the embryo/fetus is not dependent on his body to survive. That is why it is the woman's choice.

True enough.

Personally, I am pro choice, but I believe the choice lies not just in the woman, but the male (or other 'creator'), also. That's just me, though. To each their own. :)

My brothers girlfriend found out she had advanced uterine cancer when she went for her first check when she got pregnant. Unfortunately for her, and the baby she was only 14 weeks along and the baby could not have lived even if delivered and she had to have an emergency hysterectomy to save her life. This was her first pregnancy and now she will never be able to have children.

It's not always black and white, there are shades of gray.

When a man makes the choice to have sex without a condom or doesn't abstain from sex until he was ready to have children, he gives his permission over to the women.

I believe if I don't want a child I protect myself. If the man doesn't want a child HE protects himself.

That's not a fact, but an opinion. I disagree. It's not just the male's choice, in my view, not to wear a condom. I believe the woman (or male, or whatnot) has a say in that, also.
