I just asked this on another thread - Is there anyone else that could care less about these things? It makes no sense to me. I'm on vacation with my family. Who am I trying to hide from?

"Honey - I need to get dressed. Would you mind closing the privacy curtain?"

I mean, I guess if you have older kids staying in the room with you, I suppose. But why just the moderates? Is there something about staying at a deluxe or value resort that makes people feel more at ease being naked in front of someone?:confused3

I go family and friends. Now, with my sister, I could care less if she sees me not fully clothed. We're sisters. Same goes for my mom. But I'm more modest around friends, as they are around me. So, I think the privacy curtain is a nice touch.

Besides, I used it to let my sister sleep a little later last time. It doesn't block the light out, but it does make it not so harsh.

We have a 15 yr son so yes, our girls including I use this curtain to dress/change clothes. We find it very handy otherwise DS would have to leave the room.

We actually LOVED the privacy curtain and wish the deluxes also had them.
We usually travel with a large group and when my mother-in-law or the neices and nephews want to come and be in our room because they are ready or just want to say good night again (kids can't say that enough) it gives me the privacy to finish getting ready without telling them they can't come in.

I guess the room safe is more important to me and the curtain kept getting in my way.

In most deluxe resorts, you are unable to view the dressing room from the bedroom. This was Disney's way to allow some privacy without spending much money. I think it looks trashy!!

Just an FYI

All of the newly refurbished rooms at All Star Music now have privacy curtains.

Here is a photo I took of the new privacy curatain at All Star Music:

It is a nice touch and a lot of value guests are excited that All Star Music has the privacy curtain.

From this thread:

Looking to take a budget trip in April. Kids and I can't decide which hotel. For anyone who's stayed at both, opinions please.

Also, looking at pictures, Calypso room had the privacy curtain. Do all values have this?...........

Thanks!

And....

Thanks for your replies....anyone else have opinions?...............

I like the privacy curtain a lot!

We like the privacy curtain because it also blocks the light from the sink and bathroom area. My husband is usually the last one to take a shower at night and the kids are already fast asleep so the light doesn't bother them when the curtain is closed. It also blocks a little bit of the noise.

It works well for DH and I because I can never sleep as late as we plan in the morning so I could get up, take a shower, and get dressed without waking him up. And the later he gets to sleep the better.

You sound exactly like me - I am always up early showering and let DH & kids sleep. Then I saw that you are from Easton, PA also. Hi neighbor!!!!!

Not everyone vacations with their family so the privacy curtain can come in handy.

And even if I am with my family, I think I will "hide" from my 23YO son and his wife and I really would like my MIL to "hide" from me.

Light blocking, yes. I'm always up a couple hours before everyone else.

Privacy, no. We all pretty much get dressed in the middle of the room. I take that back...my 8yo ds is at an age where he's getting modest about anyone seeing him naked.

Entertainment value, yes. The kids have fun pulling them open and shut and they're great for toddler peek-a-boo. :lmao:

I love them! I'm an early riser and it's nice to be able to shower and get ready without waking DBF up. When I go on my annual WDWCP Reunion we always stay at CSR and we have fashion shows of all the stuff we bought that day using the curtains. (We're a little strange...)

My DD is 13 and DS is 10....they really appreciate the privacy curtain as do my DH and I...they are just too old for the "family dressing room":scared1:

The privacy curtains were a post-opening modification. When we stayed at POR in 1996 (Dixie Landings then), there was no privacy curtain.

While I don't use the curtain for privacy, I do use it to block some of that bright light when DH is still sleeping.
And honestly, I am sure I would use it when we have children with us.

We really like the privacy curtains. We are a family of five with 3 DD's(17,13,4). It really helps in the morning because i'm usually the first one up. I can close the curtain and it helps to block out some of the light until the rest of the family gets up. Also, with 2 older teen DD's, it's nice for them to have the curtain so they can get dressed and DH isn't right there....or vice versa. I think those curtains are a great idea!:)

I love the curtain! Last year I went with my parents (in there 60's) and my daughter (10, and starting to develop). My dad definitely did not want to change in front of her and visa-versa. The bathrooms are too small and usually all steamed up so changing in there is hard.

Because of the curtain, My DD and I could get up earlier, get ready and go without waking them up. The curtain did wonders on blocking the light.

This year it's just my DD and I and I think we could still appreciate the curtain! ;)

Where exactly is the curtain located? We are staying at POR.

Thanks!

It is right between the bathroom/sink area and the bed area. If you look at resort photos you should be able to see it.:) Oh...and yes, POR has them.
