Printing on Vellum....

...how long do you wait until you handle your vellum after printing.
I did some last evening and it seemed to smudge a bit.
This is the first time it happened.
I am going to print 2 pages now and I think I will wait until after lunch to cut and apply to my pages.

I used to wait overnight but found I didn't need to. Now I wait a few hours. Haven't had any problems lately.

I have printed on it and just waited for about 20 min. before placing it on page and had no problem with smudging.

I bought Strathmore Ink Jet Vellum in Staples and I don't have to wait more than a few minutes after printing.

I usually heat emboss it with my heat gun and in about 2 min it's ready. If you have a heat gun that has two settins use the lower one, some high settings caused my vellum to get a scorched/cloudy-ier look.

I always set my printer to print on transparency paper when I print on vellum. It helps.

Okay, who wants to wait at all?
Who wants to have to heat emboss it?
Who wants to use transparency setting (which puts out a minimum of ink which means you're sacraficing boldness and crispness.)

If you want your printing dark and crisp but still want it to dry almost instantly, you might want to check out "The Perfect Printing Pouch". It's made to do exactly these things and lots more to (like not letting ink bleed on ribbon or twill tape, and letting you print on transparencies and film negatives!)

Google it for more information. Scrapbooks Etc (Better Homes and Gardens) just recommended it in an article about getting the most from your printer. (Dec 2006)
