Forgive my ignorance, but tomorrow will be our first time trying to print on transfer paper. Does it take a lot of ink? We are considering buying the paper then taking it to a Kinko's or Office Depot to print the designs for us.

I saw the tips on the fAQ page, but it didn't say anything about ink.

Thanks!!:thumbsup2

I thought doing the same thing when I printed my shirts, but (correct me if I'm wrong, GURU's :goodvibes) you have to use an ink jet printer with the transfer paper. Kinkos and Staples and the others all use laser type printers, which are "heat based." Hope this helps!!

It really doesn't take that much ink to print the transfers at home--no more than printing a full-color page on regular paper. I think that it would be cheapest to print at home for the transfers. I don't know what kind of printers Kinko's uses, but you cannot use the regular transfer paper in laser printers. They are made for ink jet printers.

Ah ha! This makes since... which might be why I did not find the option on their website for transfers! Thanks for the tip.

Good, glad I was wrong about the amount of ink it takes. I already need to buy a new cartridge, just didn't want to buy more then 1 if necessary. I'll be printing at least 6 shirts, I wonder if I'll need that second one after all...?

Thanks for the tips!

I don't know what kind of printer you have, but I have printed over 35 transfers plus a bunch of autograph pages without needing to replace the ink cartridges (if they started out full or close to full).

We have a HP Photosmart
Have printed several photos at a time on it, just not sure what to expect with the transfers. I only have one day to get these done as we are leaving on Sunday for our trip and tomorrow is an errand day. Saturday will be the only chance I get to get these printed, cut and ironed on! Ha... talk about waiting until the last minute...

If you have time post pictures of your finished shirts....we would love to see them!!

Have a great trip!

I may be a little late to comment as you may have already made your shirts, but I printed 36 full page transfers and several other things all on one HP ink cartriage. It lasted through a lot of printing - and some of my designs were all color - no white!

I'm ringing in a bit late too, but I *just* printed my DISigns this week for my shirts. HP Photosmart as well, and after 13 pages of transfers (started with new black and color cartridges), I still have most of my black ink and about 2/3 of my color ink. I was shocked at how much I had left! :goodvibes The transfers I used said to print the designs on the normal print settings, so they didn't use extra ink.

Good luck printing your designs and making your shirts!

I know that you all will think I am completely nuts but i need help! I had several disigners make me pictures but now what do I do? I mean do I size them do I flip them what size...I'm so lost! I am not very computer literate so if anyone can help me we leave in two weeks!

It depends on your transfer. If you use Amy's, you do not flip them. Each brand is different. It should say in the instructions.

Do I need to resize anything when they are sent to me? I have no clue once they are sent to me what to do!

Most DISigners do it on an 8.5 x 11 size unless you request otherwise. I will copy all my designs before I print them into Word. That way you can resize or move it around the paper to print. Even with photo editing programs, I still print from word.

Also, check your print settings. Not your printer necessarily, but when you hit print, before you hit ok, go into properties, make sure you print on best photo, and if there is no transfer paper option, choose matte photo paper, or thick paper.

Is Amilaisky still designing? I was looking on their 4shared account and found the coolest blank-- Mickey ears with a pirate version of Ariel in it, but I have no idea how to personalize it! Thanks for the info
