found out we can print boarding pass at 12:01am on day of departure from orlando - we are staying at AKL..do they have a pc and printer avail for guests to do this? any suggestions?

thanks.

Do you really want to get up at 12:01 to print a boarding pass?

I did this once since I was already up and the system was down. Now I just print when I wake up!

Anyway, I don't think AKL has business area. There have been stories that say the front desk will print for you, but I would think that at some point this is going to stop (plus it would just depend on the CM)

The business center at the Dolphin is avaialble 24 hours a day. You go in an put your credit card in the machine and log on and print. Not real expensive if that is all you do.

Ok, I am very new to traveling...tell me more about printing the boarding passes yourself and the reasons why you do this and why the need to do this so early in the morning, thanks for you patience with me!

Some resorts have business centers...but I am not sure on the hours of them.

I went to the Contemporary and was able to log on, print boarding passes and I was done.

The cost is supposed to be $10 for 15 minutes plus $1 per page printed, but I was just charged the $1 per page for printing...

I have also heard that the Grand Floridian also has a business center. Not sure how the Dolphin works.

Hope this helps.

One reason to print as early as possible is if you are obsessive like me and like to grab certain seats (particularly exit rows). We fly ATA a lot and have our favorite seats. Since they are exits, you cannot book them in advance but you can change to them when you do online check-in. But other people know them, too, so sometimes they disapear fast.

The business center doesn't open until like 6:30 or 7 or something.

Most resorts have those phone/web things. You can't print, but you can "pretend" to print, get your seat assignment (the important thing), then print a "duplicate" pass at the airport.

That was what we did and it worked great. We had a party of six, which was difficult to seat together, so getting up early for seat assignments was important.

Do the seats open up on all airlines? I booked a flight on Continental on September 16. The Continental website let me select seats from the seating chart, but when I finalized the purchase, I got a message that the seats could not be assigned and that I would be assigned seats at the airport. When I contacted the airline, they said that eventhough the seats appeared on the web site, seat selection was blocked by the airline. The agent on the phone said she could not assign seats either.

Has anyone ever had this experience. I am upset because I am traveling with children and obviously want them sitting with me. I might have selected a different flight if I knew I could not get assigned seats.

Do you think I might be able to get seats on line at midnight the day of the flight ?

I doubt they will assign your seats online, like the agent said, you will get them when you get to the airport.

I stayed at the howard johnsons in ca ans and I called the front desk to find out if there was a local place i could do this they said come on dawn we will do this for you. I needed five seats for two different flights and they did it no problem. I would call up the hotel ahead of time and ask what can be done.I'm sdure they will help you.

I have had this problem with USAir. After a certain number of seats have been assigned on a flight, seat assignment must then be done at check-in.

I got around this by calling and asking for a supervisor. I explained that we had a child flying with us and couldn't risk the chance of not being able to sit together. She was able to assign our seats.

Dinseymom - do you have more than four in your party?

When I booked with Northwest for six I couldn't get seat assignments. The ticketing agent was no help and we ended up having to get them at the airport. What a nightmare. Six people - two preschoolers and six seats scattered throughout the plane. Fortunately, a nice guy took pity on us and let me sit with my kids while he split from his party. AND he gave me a hint - the Northwest software books a maximum of four. So book four, looking for a row or section with two more nearby empty seats, then book the next two immediately.
