11-01-03 (Part 14) – What is “Pocket Cookie”? <Magic Kingdom – Going Home>
We had just turned off the lights and the biggest animal racket erupted from outside and it was strange. I couldn’t identify the sounds. There were loud clicking noises and some whirring noises. I got up but as soon as I opened the sliding door, they stopped.

I go back to bed, I’m just about to go to sleep when it starts again. I whisper “what IS that?” – it stops. Dead. I get up and try to see what is making the sound. I can’t see a bloomin thing. I wonder what sound otters make? I close the door. Damn otters are trying to keep me up. I have a dream that night that I go down to the otter pond and Tigger is there as well. There are two otters down there and they are BIG. Tigger has picked up another one and is carrying it around. I freak out and tell him to put the otter back. My last night at the Lodge is getting freaky.

The next morning we go through the sad and painful experience of packing and looking at the bill. We take one more look at our room before going down to the desk to store our luggage. I try to take in all the details of the Lodge until I can get back again. We head out to the boat dock for our day at the Magic Kingdom. I try not to make the day a downer. Must squeeze every last bit of fun out of the next 4-5 hours. MORE FUN!

We decide to first to the ride we couldn’t do at the Halloween party so we are off to Splash Mountain. There is no line to speak of so off we go. This Splash is different than Disneyland. It has more outdoor areas and is longer. All of us that are old enough to remember “America Sings” get a kick out of seeing the gospel singing chickens and foxes on the ferry boat. Anyone that says “America What?” – go back to watching Yu-Gi-Whatever.

I need to Dole Whip and I need one NOW. We head over to Adventureland but the stand is CLOSED! This is just not fair. I must now wait a whole hour to get a Dole Whip fix. To kill time we head to the Mansion again and on the way out I look for the ring. A cast member sees me staring stupidly at the ground and says, “Are you looking for the ring?” “Why Yes I am” He kindly points it out to us.

Tigger is not impressed. It’s a bit small for him. I know, men and size. But we all know it’s not the carat count alone but the cut and the clarity that counts.

I stop into a Smuckers store directly to the left of the Mansion exit and IT’S A MANSION STORE!!! It’s so cool. We buy some great gifts, including a purse for Dot that looks like a black patent leather coffin with purple lining. My other friend D wants new antennae balls so I go on a ball hunt. There is a GREAT Mansion ball that has bat wings on it and the phrase “Haunted Mansion – its your funeral”. It rocks!

We tear ourselves away from the store and head over to Fantasyland where I drag Tigger on Peter Pan (Come on, how can you NOT get into a flying pirate ship?) and the Pooh ride. He admits that the Tigger bouncing part was pretty fun. He then drags me to another show of Mickey’s Philharmagic. It was still great the second time around.

On our way out I had forgotten about Pocket cookie. You are now saying, “What’s that?” Well, 4 years ago I bought a Snickerdoodle cookie. I ate half of it and wrapped the rest in the plastic wrap it came in. I then put the left overs in my pocket promptly forgot about it. Later that week, my friend Lisa was complaining that she was hungry. I put my hand in my pocket, found the lump, pulled it out and offered “Pocket cookie?” She looked at the week old cookie and turned me down. It went back in the pocket. Skip ahead one year. I am rummaging through my bag in front of Lisa and what do I find? Yup, Pocket Cookie. It is now hard as a rock. This continues through the years. I can’t throw pocket cookie away. I just can’t do it.

Lisa makes me take Pocket Cookie with me to WDW. She wants me to take picture of Pocket Cookie with Disney characters. Now I must admit that I was having so much fun earlier that I forgot about pocket cookie. In fact, if I would have brought him to Dolphins in Depth, Calvin would have been the end of him – all that water splashing around would have done him in for sure.

There were no live characters to be seen BUT there were some other characters made of some sturdier stuff so we took pictures:

With that task done and Pocket Cookie safe in my pocket we are now hungry. Time is running out and we are running on empty. It is the noon hour and most of the restaurants have waits. I then remember that I made PS at Tony’s. Thought it would be good as a fall back measure so off we go. Tony’s is the Italian place at the front of the park named after the restaurant in Lady and the Tramp. It is very cute and more open than I would have thought. They have the Lady & the Tramp movie playing non-stop on a TV in the lobby to keep small children entertained. The sound is not loud so it doesn’t disturb other guests or drive cast members to murderous distraction.

Now I have heard good and bad things about the food here but it wasn’t bad. Tigger did mention that a seafood dish that went past his nose “smelled like ***” but our food was actually pretty good. The strange thing was our dining room companion – it was THE TROLL GUY! Remember the guy from Norway that looked like one of those troll dolls and we kept running into? Well, there he was eating at Tony’s. I mean what are the odds? I would have bought a lottery ticket but we were in Florida.

We need to catch our town car so we bid goodbye to MK and catch the boat back to the Lodge. On the way back as we crossed the water bridge, two teen girls on water mice thought it would be funny to speed ahead of us and cross back and forth in front of our boat. These are girls that need to be eliminated from the gene pool. We (the lot of us in the front of the boat) are yelling at them to stop it but they just laugh. Just then, here comes the Mouse Patrol to the rescue! Now it is our turn to point and laugh at them. I feel like Nelson from “The Simpson’s” – Ha HA!

We relax in the lobby for a few and order our luggage brought out. Rob from Your Ride is out front in a nice black SUV but we have no luggage. Hmmmm, then they call me name but this is NOT our luggage. They have lost our luggage. Great. We wait and wait and wait. Finally Tigger and I tell the bell guy that we are going back there to look for our bags ourselves. I look, Tigger looks, its packed back there but no bags. I decide to go talk to Rob and leave Tigger to hunt with the cast member. They FINALLY find our bags stuck in a corner. How our label got on other bags, I don’t know but we are loaded and off to Orlando Airport for our uneventful trip home. This was the best trip ever and now all that is left to do while Tigger snoozes in the car is plan my next trip back to the Lodge.
