Princess Weekend 2022

Just a guess, but I’d imagine that transportation would be provided just like the races. I’m not planning on registering for it (I love the idea of it, but yoga and I just don’t mesh lol) but I wonder how check in would work. For races you print your waiver and bring it to the expo before the event. It looks like yoga is the same day as the expo, so what will they use as your registration confirmation that morning?
Can they load it on your magic band?

I can’t believe how many registration options for Wine & Dine are still available! I know Princess is typically a crazy registration, but I hope this is a sign of good chances for each of us!
Well all of this W&D conversation made me go check it out and now I'm signed up for that one! I hope princess HM works out, but if it doesn't at least I get to do one live disney race this season!!

I just came here to say this...I can't believe there are still options at 5:30pm, but it has eased my panic some!
I received an email from one of the participating charities (ACS) stating that there spots were anticipated to go live before marathon and princess registration at the same time they post Wine & Dine...which I think will be in a couple weeks from now.
I'm hoping to do the yoga...even though it poses some weird logistical things. Yoga used to really annoy me. I'm not flexible, I'm not good at it, I can't into that stillness mindset. However, I started doing it at least once a week over the last year and do a couple moves daily. I'm still not bendy, but I do have better mobility. Also, I just want to be in the park at dawn. Even though I plan to dawdle through MK during the half I feel like that part just goes too fast. Namaste right here on this mat and watch the sun hit the castle. Which means I'm probably going to have to travel with a mat.

I noticed the F&W “after party” is included if you do the half or more. Those tickets are priced the same as Princess yoga. I wonder if yoga is included in the half price? Should be, Lord knows the half and up is expensive enough!

It sure would be nice to get that bonus, especially since yoga is on the Thursday prior to the half and now I have to shell out for an additional room night if I do it! I still expect them to charge for it though because they can! I think it's only been held for cast members in the past for international yoga day.

It’s definitely good news that is wasted too bad to register for wine and dine.
Of course, I’m looking to do the Princess 10k with my daughter so still nervous about that.

Glad to see the 5k hung around. I want to sign up 2 for the 10k and 2for the 5k. 🤞

Still trying to figure out travel plans and now we might just be doing the 5k as a family and flying out Friday.

would it be cutting things too close to book a 12:30pm flight on Friday?

I’d be a little nervous about possible flight delays if it were me. I’m not sure how late the expo is usually open (I’m the crazy person that braves the crowds on the morning of opening day lol), so hopefully someone else can chime in!

I totally wasn’t clear! We’d run the 5k in the morning and leave MCO at 12:30pm to head home. Any thoughts on whether we’d be done the 5k, back to the hotel, and off to MCO in enough time?

You could probably do it time-wise but I’m not sure it would be worth it. I would be thinking about the flight and what time we have to leave the entire morning and would probably have a hard time enjoying the races day. Not to mention the crazy early morning and how tired I usually am. That is not the state I would want to be in to deal with an airport. Maybe it’s worth it to you. I’d at least push for an evening/late afternoon flight.

Race starts at 5am. Assume you start last = 6am. Assume max time on course = 7am. Assume walk through finish area and get on bus back to resort = 7:45am. Assume back at hotel = 8am. Assume gather items, shower, check-out = 9am. Assume drive to airport = 9:45am. That gives you approximately 2:45 hrs before your flight leaves. So it seems doable from a logistical standpoint. Just a matter of whether the total experience is worth it to you.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts - that was my gut feeling. We’re trying to use points, and 12:30 is the only option we can make work with our current # of points.

While I don't know if I will get the 10k spot, ever since Princess was cancelled last time around, I stopped my 10k training and only focused on the 5k distance. I'm currently at a 34 minute 5k - all running. I need motivation to start upping my distance. I had done Galloway to get to the original 10k length, but honestly didn't love my podcast getting interrupted every 30 seconds (maybe it was a minute - don't remember). I'm wondering if I run the first 5k, then do Galloway for the second 5k. Is that a thing??

When I ran my half in May I did intervals for about the middle 1/3 of the race after doing all of my training as continuous running. While it wasn't "galloway" from any sort of a formula standpoint, it helped me over the mental hurdle of being basically alone on the trail for an hour. Do what works for you!

You can also run-walk-run through the length of the 10k if you want! No pressure to perform, the runDisney races are available to all types of runners

I wouldn’t call it a normal approach or anything you’re likely to find guidance on, but any technique that helps you complete the distance is a “thing”. I use some form of interval or another for my longer races and am constantly reevaluating to see if I need to change things up on the fly. I don’t see why that wouldn’t work for shorter distances, too.

Like others have said, it's a thing if you do it! I agree with @azrivest that one of the things I find the most enjoyable about rundisney races is the lack of pressure. They are more about enjoying the experience.
One of my friends does ironman and uses a marathon strategy that I am thinking of implementing for the W&D HM to see how I like it (and I'm worried I won't quite be ready for a HM by early Nov) - running with walk breaks at aid stations. At disney races there are regular aid stations (9 total in 2019) so I'd get nice breaks and there is always a bit of a bottleneck there anyway.

Oh my goodness I’m sorry! Clearly I wasn’t awake enough when I responded! :rotfl:
I agree with everyone that already responded. The race starts early and the distance isn’t too long. I ran the 5K in 2020, went back to the resort (via race transportation), showered & got dressed, and was inside the Crystal Palace for breakfast taking a character photo at 9:51am. I’m not fast, so it can definitely be done as long as you’re okay with ending your trip that way!

thanks so much for this perspective!!
