Princess Weekend 2022

Yay!! And UGH to the POT. I’ve got a half on 10/31, and this might be a sub-2:00 half back on the goal table….

There is no way I could ever reach 2h before December. My HM PR is 2:14...

I'm so super excited. Pumped. But I'm also sad that TAs aren't getting bibs. I'm still going to rebook a room through one to toss a little business her way.
I'll just set 3 alarms on my phone registration day and have a mild panic attack as the wheel scrolls and scrolls...and this time, I'll plan to be at my desk and not at the podiatrist's office with cruddy wifi like I did for Princess 2020 :) I can't remember how fast that race sold out...but this will certainly be different. With so few groups qualifying for early registration, it's going to be everyone all at once. Maybe reduced fields, too. A friend is hopeful for a spot in the 10K, I feel like those are gone in a blink.
POT...yeah, I'm not going to hurt myself trying to get a 9 minute mile or whatever. I haven't turned anything under a 10mm in a 10K.

Could you do a 1:31 10 miler, 1:24 15k, 1:06 12k, or 54:33 10k? Those are my estimates for a 2:00 HM POT cutoff. Traditionally submitting a 10 miler or Marathon for a HM POT is the most advantageous based on the conversions they seem to have used in the past.

Here is the 2021 thread starting at registration opening (link).

10k sold out in 20 min. (link)
Challenge sold out in 23 min (link)
Half sold out in 26 min (link)
5k sold out in 28 min (link)

ETA - There was a belief this had reduced registration available though. Here is 2020:

Start (link)
5k and 10k sold out in 97 min (link)
Challenge sold out in Sept 2019 when registration was June 2019 (link)
HM sold out in Dec 2019 when registration was June 2019 (link)

No, considering my PR for 10k is 1:00;40, and that's okay.

Just being able to cross the starting line on Feb 27th will be enough for me, even if I'm in one of the last corrals. I won't stress about my corral placement just yet hihi

Just based on the numbers, I'd agree. Don't stress about it. Historically only about 8-10% of runners will have a POT submission based on past marathon weekend data. With the wave starts, I'm positive everything will be mostly fine.

Yeah, the new POT I just laughed at it there is no way I can get that. My goal was to run 14 min milers....
I am just happy I got to delete my place holder reservation on my dvc and got my points back. Also I am happy it is NOT presidents day weekend.
I am sad that I will not be able to do early registration. with my DVC.

I will be log in to all my computers and phones on registration day and I will get into our race. I will try for challenge but if cannot get in to it at least the Half seems a little easier to get into, Also good news is that there will be 2 full Disney races before ours, so hopefully that helps ours be less popular.... hopefully.

We'll also be able to gauge a little on how fast the others sell out as to how fast we can expect ours to. If it's a blistering pace for WD and MW, then hold on.

In my being overwhelmed by all the changes released this morning, I totally didn't realize until just now that they gave us the weekend logo i.e. the Princesses for the races! No idea who is going to be which race, but at least we have a preview of who to expect for medals:

Ohh you are soo right! They are some of my fav princess, I love the take charge ones. Hmm do they go in a certain order normally, so like left to right mulan 5k, cinderalla 10k, moana 1/2, tiana challenge?

The logo for the 2020 weekend was l-r Pocahontas, Cinderella, Moana, and the three fairies. Which translated to the 10k, half, 5k, and challenge. So if the 2022 logo is being used the way 2020's was, then it would be Mulan 10k (she was the 10k in 2019), Cinderella half (as she was in 2020), Moana 5k (as she was in 2020), and Tiana for the challenge (which I believe she was for 2021). All speculation on my part, of course, I'm just comparing one logo to the other.

If those are the princesses, it's a bit disappointing. Would like to see some of the princesses who haven't been used as recently as these. And if they are reusing those recent princesses, at least put them in difference races than the last time they were used. All my opinion, of course.

I'm in love with the Princesses they chose but I agree that they should mix up the distances. I don't need a "repeat" (for lack of a better term) of the medals I already have.

I didn't realize they had given us the logo/Princesses either. I assumed it was sorta placeholder artwork until they reveal the medals. Maybe because it did feel so similar. Huh. I don't really care though it does feel a little soon for a repeat Cindy half. I have no idea what logic they use to pick their star princesses for each year.

Remember these courses are almost totally flat….you can do it!!! (I say, as I finished a 10-miler this weekend in 1:57…🙄) But I’ll bet you’re better than me!

I feel the same way. At first I was upset about the POT change, but then when I realized how far out of my reach it was it became a relief to not worry about it anymore.

Princess is historically a difficult race to register for, so I am a little nervous about registration. Before 2021 turned virtual I registered for the 5K on early registration day (if I remember correctly I tried for the challenge first but it sold out). On regular registration day I lined up multiple devices and got into the challenge. Not having that second chance is tough, but we’ll give it a try and hope for the best!

Agreed! Same with Wine & Dine, even though I didn’t run those races last year. I was disappointed that Tiana finally got a race medal and it wasn’t live, so I’m excited for the chance to experience that live this year! I’m just hoping that they will come up with a new medal design so we don’t have the same medal twice with a different year on it.

Whew! Big news day on a day I wasn't glued to my computer. What exciting news!
I edited the first post in this thread with some basics. It seems like some details are unknown/in flux so I kept it brief. If there is more info you think should be in the first post let me know.
We may need the help of a fairy godmother to get into this ball on registration day! Good luck to us all.

OK so now we know that it's happening and when... What's everybody's plan? What race(s) will you try to sign up for? What's your registration strategy?
I really want to run the Challenge. That's my first choice. If that gets sold out I'll try for the half. We plan on being at WDW anyway because it's the start of spring break for us, so, as long as we are there, I'll try to get anything at all if I can.
As for registration, I was counting on TA bib availability, but that looks like it is not happening. And registration is happening in the middle of a first class meeting of the semester for me, so there is no way I can do that. My supportive DH said he would get in the fray and register me. Frankly he is more competent than me in most things so it might be for the better. He managed to get us Rise of the Resistance boarding groups twice during our last WDW trip so I have faith!
