Princess Weekend 2022

Let's discuss costume ideas now! I am just too excited and have been thinking about it all year.

What are you costume ideas?

So first how strange would it be to wear the same costume for two runs?

My first costume idea Vanellope von schweetz princess dress from Wreck it ralph. I want it to be over the top so thinking to save money to just wear that twice.
My second costume idea I have a simple Elsa outfit so wear that and save money buy not buying a second costume.
Love the Vanellope idea! I don't think wearing the same costume twice would be strange. For me it might be more anticlimactic to not have a new costume to put out each day, but if it's over the top it might be exciting! And who knows, maybe the second day the perfect character will be out that wasn't there before!

I cannot wear the same thing two runs in a row, especially not in the Florida weather… I sweat too much!

I usually like a small add-on to my regular running attire: Headband, socks, decals or little plush well sowed on.

If we run Princess, it would be a combined costume for DD and I: Rapunzel and Pascal, Pocahontas and Miko, Belle and the rose, Anna and Elsa, Ariel and Flounder, Aurora and Maleficient… with the current understanding that I would be the princess 👑😂

My daughter and I haven't settled on our costume quite yet, but the current idea is to be old school Wanda (Scarlet Witch) and Vision. We plan to use it as our Halloween costumes and then the 5k costume. That way I can justify doing a little "extra". For the 10k and HM, I'll be in my race kit since the goal is to be fast and possibly win/AG. But it remains to be seen.

I’m not sure yet…I’ve certainly thought about it, but haven’t landed on anything. I sorta want to wait until I’m sure I have a spot.
I can’t have too much extra wackiness on me for 13 miles. I did Snow White for 2020, and Mabel Pines for the virtual this year. I might go for Mabel again, despite her lack of Princess status.

Ha! I always have too many costume ideas so my list of things I've wanted to do, but haven't done, is long. I had a Gisele (from Enchanted) "curtain dress" running dress my mother made for me, which I wore in the Disney Marathon 2017. As I complained on many other threads here, it was very cold that day and had to wear sweats with it the whole race and couldn't do it justice. So I might wear that again.
If I can register for the challenge, that leaves another race. Hela from Thor: Ragnarok is a princess, right? Of Asgard?

I may not get through security with that headgear. And actually running may be a challenge :teeth:

I’m so glad I found this thread! We just returned from a fantastic WDW trip in mid June. Already started thinking about our next 2022 trip. I’m currently training for a 7.2 mile race in august which I’ve done twice in the past 12 years but I am NOT a competitive runner. Then I saw the runDisney announcement today and it was like a lightbulb went off! I could do a half! And Princess weekend is at the end of my DDs school vacation week, which is also BOTH of their birthdays (feb 22 and 23) so this can be our 2022 trip! Fast forward a few hours and I now have our trip booked with my TA. Yacht club for 3 nights (we are big pool people) and 1 bed villa at bay lake tower (my favorite) for 4 nights. I originally wanted an Epcot resort for the race weekend but then I read that you still need to use the buses, and BLT was only available for the 2nd part of our trip, so I flipped it.
I have so many questions but I’ll be following this thread carefully for the next 6 months!
I’m so nervous about getting a spot. Is it worth it to pay for the gold club runDisney membership to guarantee a bib? How does the charity option work? That’s a good alternative option for me.
And I didn’t even THINK about a costume for the run?! Omg how fun. I’m a huge ears person, it’s a bit of a problem actually. ;)
Thanks!!

Yeah and welcome!

So even if it is worth it to pay for gold club, it is not even open for new members right now :(
Charities link is here https://www.rundisney.com/events/di...rities/disney-princess-half-marathon-weekend/ The major issue is if you do not fundraise enough money to cover you min, you still have to pay it. But it is nice that at least the money is going to a good charity. Click on the charity you would like to run for and it shows the min you have to raise.

I'm a costumed maniac but I've drawn the line at tutus. They look like they would chafe like crazy.
This is my concern as well. I sewed a couple of sparkle skirts over the winter, but after wearing one on a treadmill run, I think i need to pin them to my leggings so they don't ride up, and that I also need to shorten them. Tutus are SO intriguing though! I just can't get over all the tulle and how scratchy it looks......

I just wear leggings under them and solves all chafing issues. I wear high waisted ones so it does not rub on my tummy either.

Question: how bad is it getting to race starts from offsite? We think we’ll Uber it, but I’ve always stayed onsite and used their transportation and now I’m at a loss on how to do it any other way

For costumes, if Mulan is indeed on the 5k or 10k medal, my daughter will reuse her Mushu costume from the 2019 race. I'm not sure what I would dress as, I'm trying to figure out how one dresses as a dishonored cow. :) My daughter has curly red hair similar to Merida, so we have done a race with her dressed as Merida and me as Queen Elinor. If Cinderella turns out to be one of the themes, I may do Suzy Mouse.

The list of charities has been removed. Guess they're updating it in the coming days? I heard back from a couple of charities that they'll have more info soon.
Wow I literally just checked it this morning. I guess that is good that they are updating it.
Wow! I just looked earlier too, I even sent an email to ACS to request to be added to their email list. Their website had 2022 information already, but it did say it was subject to change.
