To all of you who have done the princess or DW 1/2 marathon before, I'd like your advice.
I have 3 day park hopper tickets and am doing the run.
On what days do you suggest walking around the parks, but not tiring yourself out too much before the run.
I'm coming in on Thursday morning and attending the expo that day.
Then flying out on Monday afternoon.
I do love to do the rides at the parks!
But I don't want to overdo it.
Thanks!

First, I would point out that according to the website, the expo doesn't opne until Friday. Now, to your original question, I would partly ask whether or not this is your first half because if it is, you may want to just hang around your resort on Saturday and take it easy all day, opting for parks on Thursday, Friday, and Sunday.

If not, then I would probably opt for no parks on Thursday, all day on Friday, parks on Saturday but returning to your resort no later than 6pm then back to the parks after the race on Sunday.

I too am coming in on Thursday, but since we are AP holders, we are headed to Epcot for dinner on Thursday (unless we head over to Cocoa Beach for the shuttle launch). On Friday we'll head to the expo when it opens then to a park. Saturday parks until about 3 or 4pm then meet friends for an early dinner. Back to the parks after race, shower, and brunch. Monday we have an early AM flight so we won't be at the parks too late on Sunday night and we leave that morning well before the park opens.

I would go to the Park on Thursday. The lines aren't long during that time usually so you shouldn't have to stand in line a ton. But, listen to your feet and wear good shoes and take plenty of sitting breaks. In other words, get snacks often and stay hydrated (water only). Ditto for Friday. Saturday, Maybe go to DTD and do a tiny bit of shopping in the morning, but maybe plan to take a break in the afternoon and go see a movie or something like that. Go to bed early! Or at least relax in early - as it is kind of difficult to sleep that early for most of us...just take it easy, and get everything together for Sunday morning! It is important to move after the race (considering you aren't sore or injured which I hope no one is!) so I think it is good to go to the parks after the race (after you do the cool shower or bath, and stretching) and show off that fancy medal!! Get some lunch and stay hydrated and don't get stuck watching a parade - run from them! (sorry - personal bad experience during last years princess, I got stuck in the middle with a parade going by and my mobility decreased!)

Good Luck and have so much fun!!

we have the same itinerary, but we arrive towards the later afternoon. We're doing Epcot on Friday, MK on Saturday and park hopping and DTD on Sunday after the event. Saturday evening we've planned dinner at the contemporary's california grill at like 7:30 or so and will go right back to the hotel to go to bed for the early sun hours.

I think you are the only one that can answer that question.

I hear numerous times that people walked so much at Disney that their legs hurt....I don't get it :confused3

We have been to Disney many times and I have never complained that my legs hurt and we will be at the park all day every day.

Now I am an avid runner so all that walking is nothing to all the running ;)

We are getting in the Sunday before and we will be at the parks Tuesday to Friday and then Saturday after the 5K and the kids race and then we will be doing the park after the half and I will probably be a bit tired on the Sunday but that's it!

So again you know your body best!

Yes, silly me, the Expo starts on Friday. :rotfl:
Thanks for all your good advice!
Keep it coming!

One thing to keep in mind is that it is the end of President's Week and the crowds are predicted to be VERY high all week. I believe they should taper off on Saturday and be much better Sunday and Monday. With that in mind, our plan is to hit the Expo on Friday after our plane arrives. We are going to chill on Saturday and park hop after the race and Monday morning.
