PRINCESS Palooza 2011! 9/9 Update: Departure Day

What telephoto lens do you have Janet?
BTW the shots are simply amazing. Such clarity and the action is just wonderful. I've seen the Indy show once and that was enough for me. I also agree that Indy at Disneyland is wonderful. Splash though is still my favorite ride of all time. So for the action shots were you just shooting on continous mode for certain sequences?

Thanks Mike!

I have the Sigma 50-150 f/2.8. I chose it over the 70-200 option so many have becuase 1) it's smaller and a bit lighter and 2) I thought the 50mm end would be more usable than the 70mm end of the other. My lens has been discontinued, but I think they still come up on ebay fairly regularly.

A few of those shots are cropped, but not a lot. And yes, I shot on continuous mode so I could get some nice sequences.

That show was sort of a pain to shoot. The theater is covered so half of the stage was in shadow. The rest was in bright sunlight. That really is hard to get right. Or to process to LOOK right! :cool2:

And why am I not surprised your a DL Indy fan as well? :goodvibes

I wouldn't go out of my way to see the show again, but if Drew wants to go again sometime, I'd probably try to sit closer (we were near the back for a quick exit) and get a different perspective in my shots.

Great updates! Love your shots of Toy Story and the Indy show. What did you think of the TSM queue?

And do you mean to tell us that with 22 pages of typed trip notes, you don't know if you rode RnR once or twice? :lmao: ;) (Just teasin' you.)

Aw, cute window!
I've never been through the standby line for TSMM either! I would love to see Mr. Potato Head.
I've never seen the Indiana Jones show, but I've seen part of it from the Disney episode of Full House... that's good enough, right? Great photos, as always!

Sporting tutus, butterfly wings, cowboy boots or soccer jerseys, each of these twelve little girls is ready to have a day of fun together-a Princess Palooza! And what could be better than a day at Princess Park-a wonderful playground with a castle, moat and carriage.

does the mr. potato head actually interact w guests? when we went through the line all he was saying was to move along and fill in available space or something like that! but there was no line whatsoever at the time!

I didn't go on the indiana jones ride at disneyland! I'd almost forgot about it but was reading over my notes from our trip and I mentioned that Dave went on it, and then he was asking if they had it in florida. maybe they should add it instead of the stunt show!

man those pretzels w the m&ms look amazing!

Well, school is out for our very first snow day of the year today. Wasn't it nice of the school district to wake me at 5 AM and let me know we could sleep in? Grrrr...... I forgot rule number one...... if the weather is iffy, take the dang phone off the hook!

LOL! There's a reason for that. RnR is one of the few rides I can't take pictures on. I use the pictures to remind me what I rode when I get home and write up my notes!

The TSMM queue is definitely cute. But give me FP any day. So much of what Disney has done in recent years has been queue improvement. While that's nice, it rarely excites me.

I guess I should say that I have seen the Mr. Potatohead in CA before..... just not this one. He's cute, but I'll take FP any day.

I do think everyone should see the Indy Stunt show at least once. It's a fun little show. It just seems stale after a few times and I'd love to see something new.

You know, I think he really just says things intermittently. I don't think he's like Crush, actually interacting.

There are LOTS of folks who agree that the Indy ride would be better than the show. We did that ride at least 3 times on our 2010 trip to DL. I'd do it again and again. It's really pretty cool. It's similar in layout to Dinosaur, but the storyline is more compelling (IMHO). And it has the music. The music adds a lot to that ride. I can even get past the snake thing.........

And yes, those pretzel rods are awesome. Maybe we need to do some ourselves......... Hmmmm....... maybe for Valentine's Day????? I brought some home for Drew once and Robbie ate all of them before he ever got to them!

LOL! I think we're total whimps over here in Independence. And I didn't appreciate the early wake-up either!

And sure. Strap on the snow shoes and head west. I'll buy extra pretzel rods!

I'm a little nervous this morning though. This will be Robbies first time to ever drive in snow. I guess if I had to pick a year for a mild winter, this would be it. I guess I knew this day would come though.....

Great pictures from DHS. The pictures from the Indy show are wonderful, especially since you were so far back.

Enjoy your snow day.

I hope you aren't getting sick of hearing this but your Hollywood Studio photo's are incredible!

Thank you! :goodvibes Not much enjoying on my part. I'm working while the kids are hanging out enjoying another day off. Oh, and they're out early Wednesday for a 4 day weekend. Life's rough!

I hope you aren't getting sick of hearing this but your Hollywood Studio photo's are incredible!

Not sick of it at all. Many thanks! :goodvibes

I love your Indy Pics...I now need to go see the show just for picture taking.

Brook said the Indaina Jones rids at DL is the best Disney ride of all too.

Thanks Jen. It really is a great show to photograph. But then I love shooting ALL the Disney shows.

And tell Brook she's right! We had a hard time scheduling that last trip of ours to DL in 2010. And just when we had it all worked out, reservations made, etc........... I found out Indy would be closed for refurbishment. So we did the only thing we could do....... we completely rescheduled again! I can't think of a single ride at WDW I would reschedule the trip over.

Anyone wanting to add Lightroom3 to their collection..... Adorama has an awesome deal today only for 79.99.

KCMike....... I hope you see this! This is cheaper than the student discount I got a couple years ago!

Lightroom3

Surprisingly, I have never been through the standby line for TSM either! Although, even with the amount of trips I've taken, I've actually only been on it twice! Both other trips we were park hopping, and didn't want to "waste" a fp on something we might not use! If the lines ever not bad though, I'd totes jump through to see Mr Potato head.

RnR is something else I have yet to do, but I think I have convinced myself to do it on our next trip. I dunno, it's the one that frightens me the most haha, could you compare it to something else in the parks? :confused3

I know what you mean about the Indiana show, again, something I've only seen twice, and that's because we had new people with us who wanted to see it.

I agree about the Indie show. Once you've seen it, it just isn't as good the second time. We've seen it twice now and I don't care to see it again. Your pictures are great though!

Thank-you for not getting too far ahead, it's hard catching up! :lmao:

AWESOME pictures of the show! This is my DH's favorite show as he's a big Indy fan. I enjoy trying to guess who the "fake" audience member is!

Glad you finally got to see Potato Head in all his spudiness! (new word alert!) I enjoy the queue, it's fun to get a photo in front of him every time we go through! Lovely photos, so clear. Makes me want to jump inside the photo!

I hope yo enjoyed your snow day! We haven't even got enough snow yet this year to cover my lawn, so I'm just guessing I won't be as lucky to get a snowday!:sad2: How'd did Robby do in the snow?

Off to a good start here this morning. I had my long overdue mammogram today and got the all clear. Twice before I've had issues to check out following a routine mammogram, so I get quite freaky about going. But I went. Overdue, but I went. And ..... shall we say.......... quite happy to move forward again. :goodvibes

Time for a little catch-up then on to work........

Well, I HAD seen the Mr. Potatohead at DCA since there is no FP line there. And while he's cute, he's not worth doing standby at DHS unless the line is short. I know Disney has put a lot of effort into their queues .... trying to make them more interesting and all..... but I'd rather they add more attractions to spread the crowds out more.

There really isn't anything to compare RnR to. It is an awesome ride. And I'm not a big thrill ride junkie. Yes, it goes upside down. But honestly, it's so smooth that it probably won't bother you. And you're so well secured in your seat that you don't feel like you're going to fall out or anything. Take my word for it. Just try it once. Otherwise you're missing out on one of the best treats at Disney!

Thansk RTT! I need to get caught up on your TR. I've been catching back up one at a time. I know you're back on solid land, but I need to get over and see the photos of CBR!

Indy IS a fun show to photograph. Lots of action and intersting shots.

Thank-you for not getting too far ahead, it's hard catching up! :lmao:

LOL! Glad to sandbag for you! And seriously...... I'm so relieved for you that Sam is on the mend. And I bet her teachers will be great to work with on catching up.

I do think I'll see the Indy show again just so I can sit closer one time. It seems like we're always in the back row. I think deep down inside my husband is afraid they'll choose him.....or that I'll volunteer him!

The snow day wasn't that interesting. It was snowing pretty heavily in the AM but was mostly gone by afternoon. And we caved on the Robbie issue. I ran out to get some milk and slid all over, so suggested he might want to miss a day since he only had one class that day. His met with his teacher yesterday to go over what he missed. So I don't think it was a big deal.

We've had very little snow here too. This was the first time this season we got anything of note.

Glad to hear all clear on "The Girls" :lmao: Sam is doing very well! She itching to get driving again (Sat) and Sunday will be going back to school. Her pain is almost gone, no Tylenol today! She just hates that she is too sore to sleep on her stomach. I hope her teachers will be decent, so far her advisor seems to think so.

I tired to get Sam to volunteer on time, she almost tried to get under the bench!:rotfl2:

Even though we haven't had much snow at all, it's just enough (as it melts the same day!)so make the driveway wet and muddy:mad: I swear if I find one more mud track through the kitchen, heads are gonna roll!
